I heard about FA Salon from a friend in Chester and decided to give it a try today. Unfortunately, my first experience was not that great. The stylist who cut my hair did a good job, but the blowout was terrible. Frizzy, curly in the root. I told her I wasn't happy and even suggested her what type of brush to use for the sides and other tips. She said she was going to fix it with a flat iron. Any hairstylist should be able to smooth your hair using a blow dryer and a round brush unless you have frizzy, kinky or damaged hair. In my 50 years, I have never asked another stylist to fix someone else's work so this was a first for me. The next stylist did a good job but I feel I left the salon with a fried head. Please note that my hair is thin, not corse or curly. This could have been avoided. I am not disclosing their names and I might not go back. Frank Anthony Salon is truly exceptional! I always get a great haircut by Cathy and color by Billie. But what truly makes them stand out is the genuine love they have for their customers. I'm an idiot for trying any other place. I live about an hour away and tried a new salon and to say they butchered my cut and color is an understatement. I went back to Frank Anthony and they made me better then ever. They are professional, clean and so nice. Myself, husband, mother and aunt all swear by this salon. They also own 7 West in Denville. I usually go elsewhere, but was recovering from major surgeries, and I tried Kaitlin (hope I'm spelling her name correctly). I was so pleased. The only problem is the bathroom is up a steep flight of stairs, and not accessible for me, otherwise, I would have gone back in a heartbeat. The color and cut (after surgeries my hair was so tangled, and there were bald places where they pulled it out because it was so bad) were superb. I would totally recommend her and the salon if you can manage the steps. read more

After 2 years of going through 6 other stylists, I FINALLY found her! Please note, today was my third appointment and due to experiences at other salons, I hesitated writing this review until after 3 visits. This was to allow a true, not one time experience review. My hair is light brown, not espresso nor blond, but brown. For reasons unknown to me, other stylist could not seem to get my color the right shade. In the past two years, I have gone from Pamela Anderson blonde to espresso brown. Anytime they have come within a few shades of my color it screams brass. Laura at this salon got it right on the first go and has repeated herself two more times. Today, was my first cut and she did a fabulous job. Yes, it's hard to get an appointment if you don't plan in advance. I have realized this is what happens when stylists are good, they book up. These stylists are awesome! Hands down best client experience you will get! Been coming here for about a year..... was referred by many and my only hesitation was- a 40 min ride from my house. The entire team from the owners to the front desk make you feel special and absolutely are experts with any service you need!!! My daughter needed corrective hair service completed (after she thought coloring her own hair purple was a good idea)- and they made her feel comfortable, and reassured her they will get it back to the way it was! Very disappointed with my first experience getting highlights (and lowlights) there. Besides the fact that I waited an HOUR for the stylist to start on my hair, with hardly an apology, I was there a total of 4+ hours. And left with my hair wet. The color does look good, but has been exceptionally dry since. I don't mind spending $220 (plus tip) for getting my hair done, if it's worth it, but definitely not for that experience. read more

I wanted to dye my hair pink, so I went here to get in professionaly done. I go there and all seems normal. They dye my hair this nice bright pink and I leave. They didn't bleach my hair because I didn't want them too. They said the dye would come out in 4-8 weeks. I go home and go on with my day. I go swimming, not messing with my hair or doing anything to it. I let it dry and brush it later that day. Oh my goodness, it is gone. My hair is back to its normal blonde state. There is no pink in my hair. I am so disappointed that I spent $100 dollars to color my hair, wait for an hour, and watch in turn back to my regular color. I am never going back here again. Also gives bad haircuts, my husband hair was a wreck when he came home after getting a haircut. read more

The reviews on here are definitely not an accurate description of this salon. I went to Frank Anthony for the first time today and had an absolutely wonderful experience. I received gift certificates for Christmas for a European facial, pedicure & manicure. I called for an appointment at noon today and they were able to get me in the same day for my facial and pedicure which is all I wanted today. I checked in & was taken right away for my facial with Wendy. I've had many facials when living in Princeton & Manhattan at high end salons at much higher prices and I would highly recommend Wendy & Frank Anthony salon. Wendy was amazing and a lovely person..my skin feels & looks fantastic. My pedicure was wonderful as well with Shay who was ready and waiting for me as soon as my facial was finished. Very happy with my experience. Had old extensions taken out, got a super short cut which will take some getting used to I needed it, a lot of breakage, my husband loves it. I'm still looking for my ponytail. ;-( I went back the next day for lowlights and a glaze. After being in the Florida sun, chlorine, and salt water, my hair was extremely bright white blonde. The staff was wonderful, actually listened to what I want, where I want my hair to be, looked at my Pinterest photos. Staff explained alkaline vs. acid so far as hair goes, suggested products but didn't push them, I feel like I'm in great hands. it's important that the person cutting your hair knows what you want to grow it out to- I want to grow mine back to a shoulder length bob, eventually get a perm, so the wonderful woman who cut my hair took that into consideration when cutting my hair into the cut I wanted. I have very fine, thin blonde hair which is starting to go white (not grey, white). I guess I don't have that much pigment to lose. Colorist said no highlights, you have natural ones, we work with them and tone them down. In the past, my hair was damaged by stylists using color to make my hair darker than putting in highlights to make it lighter. No more. read more

Wanted to get a quick blowout. My hair is curly and my regular hair dresser at a different salon has no problem blow drying it straight. However this hair dresser basically dried my hair about 90% of the way first into a frizzy mess and then tried to blow dry it straight. Pretty sure you're supposed to blow it out straight while it's still wet. Anyway it turned out horrible and I will not be returning. Not sure who taught this girl to be a hair dresser but she sucks. read more

I just went for my first time to this salon. Kim did my color and readily accepted the challenge. I have multicolored hair and it's very vibrant, so it takes some real patience and effort to get just right. Kim, and about half of the other colorists, shared the task at hand and did a really wonderful job. I'm really happy with how the color came out and completely impressed with how much time and effort they all put into making it happen! Faith did my hair cut and for the first time in almost a year, I'm in love with my style. I've been trying (several trips to 2 other salons) to get my hair cut a certain way and no one could really "get" my vision. Faith got it right on the first try and in a big crunch. Thanks to my lengthy color process, I was the last customer and no one whined a bit about staying after hours. The entire salon helped out in making sure I was taken care of, got coupons for my next 2 visits, referral coupons, free samples - the works. I have been to Frank Anthony for foil highlights three times since spring 2014. I will not be returning. Though I never asked for very pale blonde hair, my hair got progressively lighter and lighter and more and more ashy looking. By the second and third time, I did mention that I wanted my hair darker but she still continued to use a lot of blonde and every time I left the salon I felt the color was too light. I have now been left with hair that is very damaged and dry due to the over bleaching. It feels like straw and I'm losing alot of it. I have no choice but to keep cutting my hair shorter to get rid of the damage. It's such a shame that a professional colorist would not foresee this and would keep bleaching hair until its completely ruined! read more

I am new to the area and have always gone to salons. This salon was one of the nicest salons I've been too (offered me coffee, beer, tuna fish sandwiches). The person who cut my hair was Danielle and she did an amazing job. Most people struggle with my hair cuz it seems to have a mind of its own, but she took her time and made it exactly how I like it. Pleasantly surprised at how happy I've been at Frank Anthony. I've been going to lighten up in Budd Lake for years and I've been unhappy with the terrible scheduling going on in there for some time. I could never get an appt when I wanted. I always had to accommodate them and that's not how you should be running a salon. Enter Frank Anthony's...called the day of and they squeezed both my sons in for a same day hair cut. The staff and stylist were so So friendly and polite. Accommodated my ever wish. The salon was run very smooth and was very clean. As I was checking out I met Brianna another stylist who absolutely charmed me with her amazing personality. I've seen her three times and have never been so happy with my color and cuts. I feel so appreciated and well cared for whenever I'm in the salon. I was a loyal customer of this salon for over 10 years. Recently, I tried to go from dark auburn to blonde hair, and my hair was completely destroyed by their salon. It was orange and broke off 4" from the scalp. When i called to complain, I was informed that the stylist told me "she informed me of the risks" - which was absolutely NOT true. After repeated phone calls, I was also told "the owner, Frank, is not interested in refunding (my) $300." Nor did they offer to fix it. I had to cut off 14" of hair, and it is still very damaged. When I posted 'before' and 'after' pics along with my (very diplomatic) complaint on their Facebook page, it was deleted immediately and I was blocked from their page. At this point, I am stunned that they are still in business. Horrible customer service and very unprofessional. Mistakes happen, but businesses should be accountable for those mistakes. read more
