Mister Gee Burger Truck - Truffle burgers x 4 with dirty fries

So far, the Mister Gee's burger truck has been tucked away in a car wash behind the Burwood…read moreWestfield. It is quite simply good food mixed with an element of surprise. Mister Gee confirms their location, opening time, and the one burger they'll serve for the week, sporadically on their Facebook page, and are only open Thursday to Saturday (for now). I have had the good fortune of tasting their Truffle burger yesterday, and it is one of my top beef burgers. With meunster cheese, rocket, drizzled with truffle mayo - This burger definitely knows how to look after you. Their chicken burger on the other hand, was tasty but forgettable - don't get me wrong though, it was still very good. Order up with the dirty fries and you're set to be satisfied.

Let's put something fatty and heavy...on something else that's fatty and heavy but super sweet which overpowers the burger. Anyways if you like brioche bun burgers more power to you...but I hate them. That being said, Mister Gee's burgers work well with their buns and don't overwhelm the burger itself, so good on them for that. By the way if you didn't know, Mister Gee's only showcases one burger each week out of their 4 burgers: The Truffe, Fatboy, Cheese Boogie, and Chicken. Rocked up on a Thursday and the line was already 30 deep around 645pm, so the wait was roughly half an hour. Not a fan of queues, but they're there for a reason. This week was the Truffe Burger, and I naturally had to order a double. This burger is supposedly the favourite one among the staff, so I had expectations but I tempered them too. The dirty fries were also on showcase, so had to order those as well. The dirty fries were decent, but whoever made them didn't salt them properly as the salt was distributed unevenly....mega salty in the middle and barely salted on the edges. Not sure I'd order these again unless they fixed that up. The Truffe was pretty good...I wasn't expecting it to be, but I had no qualms with this burger, especially at $13 for a double. The truffle oil with the mayo and cheese went well with the grass fed Tasmanian beef patty. Did I enjoy this burger more than the Bronx at Five Points? Yes I did...I'm definitely keen to try the Cheese Boogie and Fat Boy now. My only gripe (besides the fries) is that this place isn't the most accessible if you live by the CBD, but if you live by inner west you should by all means go.

There are some really good and well known food venues in Summer Hills (and a marvelous IGA), but we didn't want anything too fancy and nothing we had to go and find somewhere to sit eat. Some places we had been to and some were just full, so we were surprised to see Burgers on Broadway with some space available. The burgers were lovely, fresh and tasty, although they came in different sizes. We enjoyed it enough to say we would go back. The only gripes I would have in the ambiance of the venue. There was a potty mouth movie on the television in the restaurant (which they turned it off for us) where you need to up upbeat music. There is a cloth between the front counter and the servery window area from kitchen which takes away from the concept of the business. Traditionally American burger joints the burgers are places in the servery window and then dispatched. Having the cloth there made us think the kitchen must be pretty dirty and not well keep. And finally, the tables and chairs. They were just generic tables and chairs put around the place. Sadly, customers can move them, but this comes with a whole lot of screeching noise and a messy restaurant. Burger joints need booths and banquets. These things aren't enough to stop us returning, but some considered theme changes would make this place more authentic and better presented.

The service was below par too with cashier and cook a group of young guys who don't seem to care. The onion rings were so so with the batter not sticking to the onions and are an ask at about a $1 each. Shame... I was hoping for something at least close to Five Guys in the U.S.A.

They had the Beyond Burger 2.0 Patty but I wanted to try the fried chicken. I got the Portuguese Fried Chickens and a few extra sauces. It comes with Jalapenos but it's not spicy, just adds the perfect amount if flavor. The party looks and tastes amazing. It's crispy kind of like a chicken katsu on the outside and tender and surprisingly juicy in the inside. It came with a brioche bun (vegan of course) which was good but not as good as a egg based brioche. However, there was so many great flavors going in that this is forgotten. The best part however is the slaw it comes with. It just ties everything together, especially if you use the extra dips (I'm a sauce guy). I'm planning my next visit already. Most important thing: the chicken burger was great, but the milkshakes are even better! I got vanilla bean and it puts dairy based milkshakes to shame. Highly recommend this place whether you are a burger lover of not, plant based it not.
