Even the bun had been greased. I had to wonder if this was the normal or if they made is special for me. When I ordered I got the feeling they would have rather been serving anyone besides me. I can't remember how much I paid, but for me it was too much. I couldn't eat even half of it and didn't even let my dog eat it. A few hours later I began having explosive diarrhea. I figured it was because of all the grease. My husband got a fish and it was really tiny. He said it wasn't too bad. I waited to write this review because I didn't want to write it out of disappointment and frustration. I have nothing more to say except I took photos of the food and you can decide for yourself if it's your kind of food.

The buffet is the obvious choice, though. The buffet itself is extraordinary. On Friday, you can usually have frog legs, and that is a treat. There is also a vry good shrimp and rice dish usaully there, and fried fish, along with other entrees. I've usually seen about four different vegetable sides, but the green beans have meat in them, so if you want meaty veggies, you're in luck. There is usually corn and some greens. There are plenty of sides to choose from. The salad bar is very good. A lot of options. Caesar dressing isn't one of the four or five available ones in the containers, but they do have Caesar and other dressings in packets. The desserts are not that great, although they do have some very good soft serve ice cream. The blueberry pie is that mush in a packet. Here is where you can tell it isn't really authentic Amish, but it is still a very good restaurant. The service is good and friendly. They dress Amish, but it is more Americanized than real Amish places. I do recommend it. It's pretty expensive, but worth the price. You are treated to a good view of the lake, if they let you have a window table, but those are often taken. The other tables sit out in the open, and I never feel comfortable that way, but if that doesn't bother you, you'll be fine. There are expensive store items to buy, too. I never tried them. things like soap, candles, the usual restaurant store items. It's almost always very crowded. Often, there is a long line. The food is very good, and it is a popular place. Restrooms are dirty and sometimes out of order, which is why I don't give this five stars. I hope that they address this some day.

The views of the West Boggs Lake were nice. Water was very green but beautiful. Food was delicious Fried Chicken, Roast Beef, Tenderloin, Mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, green beans, stuffing, noodles, carrots, homemade bread/rolls and if you're into it they had chicken livers/ gizzards. The salad bar had a solid fresh selection of items. The desserts were tasty as well. Ice Cream and Pies. We got Pecan and Peanut Butter pies and they were fantastic. So good we forgot to take pictures. A nice place to stop by if you're passing through or visiting the Boggs camp ground. Could have been a 5 with more options but that is really the only drawback. However....my mom was an excellent home cook - healthy, well-rounded meals that included some fried, some bacon fat, pies & cobblers & shortcakes. Chambers is all of that. It fills not just my stomach but my soul. Good old home cooking -- fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans with bacon fat, homemade bread, pan desserts. All I can eat. The place is clean. The staff is friendly & keeps the glasses filled. I don't feel rushed like I'm a mere commodity like so many Indy restaurants. My only request is that they rent cots in the parking lot for food-coma recovery. But it's worth it to me.

The Cobbler is hot and oh so tasty. Melts the ice cream in just the right way. Yes, I also had a Banana Pudding. It was piled high. Nilla Wafer bits, and whipped topping too of course. Order at the counter. Magic happens in the back behind the curtain. Just breathe and wait for it. Then indulge!! Hope you try these!

We had her come up with some retro-bowling designs for our son's 3rd birthday - it was held at a bowling ally and I feared wouldn't have the same amount of love put into the event as in past years (full-time working mama who is also in grad school and was away for said school the weekend of his birthday - this helped take away some "mom guilt"). This would also be amazing for corporate events! Can't recommend these cookies enough! We got so many complements and at least 2 orders were placed by friends (for their own events) because of how crazy-awesome these cookies are. My only recommendation would be to offer a few different cookies bases (like snikerdoodle or ginger). A full 5 stars are well-earned.

I think one of the positives has been a renewed emphasis on discovering and really supporting local. One of my discoveries during this time has been Monastery Baked Goods, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Indiana offering baked goods that are sold in support of the ministries and mission of the Sisters of St. Benedict. If you've never been to the Ferdinand, Indiana area I regard it as a rather holy place. There's simply a sacred feeling being there and I've come across in my life a couple of the Sisters of St. Benedict including one teacher who was key in finding out how I learn best. She almost single-handedly guided me as I went from a C+ student in high school to a college valedictorian. So, when I discovered this way I could have tasty treats and support the Sisters of St. Benedict I was all about it! Monastery Baked Goods began as an outreach by the Sisters during Christkindlmarkt, an annual German festival held in Ferdinand. They started making and selling springerles, a German cookie. From there, they experimented and began making the almond-based almerles. They then began offering a cookie in honor of the 12th century mystic St. Hildegard. Simply Divine Bakery was formed, but in 2015 the name changed to Monastery Baked Goods as a way to truly identify a relationship with their monastery. They have an online gift shop that includes bourbon-soaked fruitcake, springerles, Hildegard cookies, St. Hildegard Crunch Mix, Hildegard mini-cookies, Simply Lemon cookies (these are wonderful), gingersnap cookies (these are wonderful), chocolate shortbread cookies, shortbread cookies, buttermint with chocolate cookies, prayerful pretzels (these are awesome), and a bunch of other options. They also offer gluten-free options and recently introduced mint julep cookies. They offer bundles and specialty options. They offer their products wholesale and in Indy you can get them at A Taste of Indiana at 65th and Binford. Prices vary, though I've found them incredibly reasonable and, of course, they also support a good cause. While many religious communities continue to suffer in terms of numbers, it seems like the Sisters of St. Benedict continue to do well. The Monastery Baked Goods website is a page on the Sisters website and it's inspiring to see new Sisters commit to monastic life and to see all the ministries of the Sisters of St. Benedict. I'm inspired by this ministry and I love the products. While I don't get to Ferdinand often, it's nice knowing that I can still support the ministry as I live only about 10 minutes from A Taste of Indiana and can pick up my Monastery Baked Goods there.

The vegan flavours are somewhat less interesting than the some of the dairy flavours, but still offers some variety: they always carry vegan vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and grasshopper. You can also get any of the vegan flavours in your sundae/blizz/whatever, so this is actually a very good place if you can't or don't want to have dairy. Having tried all of the vegan flavours, I thought the chocolate was actually too cloyingly rich and sweet, but I really liked the others. The vegan ice cream is oat-based, which I prefer over the more common coconut. They also have a rotating selection of soup (with a few meat and a few vegetarian or vegan options available at any given time) in what I assume is a bid to stay relevant during the winter. The ice cream is still the main attraction for me at any time of year but the soup is worth getting if you want to make a meal of it, and it's nice to have something healthy to balance out the ice cream. I have tried the cream of asparagus and carrot ginger. The carrot ginger had shredded carrot in it instead of being a totally smooth puree, which I actually really liked. There is also some summery Americana food like hot dogs and mac and cheese, but I haven't tried any of that so I can't comment. The place has lots of seating inside and outside. It seems like they generally get very busy in the evenings but it's usually quieter during the day. The staff have been friendly in my experience. When I ordered a soup and sundae together, they offered to make the sundae and keep it in the fridge for me until I was ready to eat it, which was nice and thoughtful.

They also had chocolate chip cookie sandwiches, frosted sugar cookies, cake pops and slabs of frosted cake to go. There was just so much sugary goodness everywhere I looked. We picked up a variety pack of cupcakes to go, and my kids loved them. The cupcakes are more on the smaller side, which is great with me because they are so rich -- you really only need two or three bites and you're satisfied. The frosting on the cupcakes tastes like it's a buttercream base. The cupcakes are meticulously decorated -- all of them had a sprinkling of edible gold, so it felt that much more elevated. Fancy cupcakes! If you want to make a big impression on someone, gifting a cupcake or two from this place will do the trick.
