I recently had to replace the shower doors in my bathroom. My contractor recommended using Franciscan. I have used them in the past but didn't realize that they now were experts on shower and bath glass. Everything went very smoothly from measurement to installation. It all happened in a timely manner and it was very clear that they really understood their business. They answered all of my questions and everyone I spoke with was courteous and pleasant. Jeff and Steve did the installation and did an excellent job. They were very professional. The doors were custom so it wasn't a simple installation. I could not be happier with the result. My contractor told me that if he had to deal with the installation, it would have cost at least as much or more than using Franciscan. That would have been with recycling the old doors so the choice was an easy one to make. I highly recommend them. I only wish I knew about this earlier as I had to get new shower doors for another shower and am much less happy with the result. read more

I needed a local shower door company to make an adjustment to my shower door. I was quoted a 2 hour minimum charge and a 50% deposit on that. Fortunately I used another shower door company. They charged a minimum of 1 hour and the job actually took about 30 minutes. They responded quickly and did a great job. Franciscan will not get my referrals. read more

DO NOT USE - wrong measurement resulted in shattered glass. We called Franciscan based on a contractor recommendation, they were polite and came to take measurements. The glass came and they replaced our sliding glass door glass, but then just 2 weeks later it shattered. I had another company measure and confirm the sizing was incorrect and they failed to place padding near the door handle. Franciscan would not offer to replace despite their faulty installation so we needed to go with another vendor who did it correctly and faster, I would not recommend Franciscan. read more

I grew up in this neighborhood and we always used Franciscan Glass when ever the need arose. Yesterday I needed a replacement pane for one of the windows in my rental house and knowing that many other glass sellers have closed over the last 15 years, I went back again. The staff was great as always and the glass was ready first thing this morning. Yes, the prices have gone up, but the last time I bought glass was about 20 years ago. In September 2022, as part of renovating two bathrooms we chose Franciscan Glass to provide a new Shower Stall as well as sliding doors for the bathtub. My contractor had wanted us to go with a vendor in the South Bay. But being a long time resident of San Antonio Road & Palo Alto I wanted to get a quote from Franciscan Glass though I expected them to be too expensive for me. Surprise! they were very competitive and I knew their quality would be better than any south bay shop. The service, starting with Laura at the office to Jesse who came out to measure, to the installers, was excellent. They were clear with what they would do and did exactly what they said they would do. They also use top quality CR Laurence hardware. We are very happy with our choice. My contractor was surprised too ... and I convinced him to ask Franciscan Glass for a quote next time. If I had to do it all over again, I would take Jesse's advice and get the factory applied coating for the glass. Would have saved us a lot of glass cleaning in the years to come. read more

I called Franciscan Glass after my sliding glass door had been smashed in due to a break in. The woman who answered the phone told me that they were very busy, and would not be able to help me until the following week, but after I explained my situation, she kindly said she would send someone out within the next couple of hours, and she did! The glass man removed all of the broken glass, including what was on the carpet and the patio, and made it very easy for the plywood to be installed until the glass could be delivered. He spent at least 2 hours making sure that everything was done well, no rough edges, etc. Within 6 days, the glass was replaced. Y'know when you find a shop that does exactly what you need and the people are really helpful? This is one such place. This place has a great showroom with lots of neat samples to look at while you wait. I want to put more glass on more things because of this place :-) I needed some pieces of glass trimmed on one side to fit a project. I tried Tri-City Glass, who told me it'd take two hours to "grind down" and practically hung up on me, and I tried A1-Glass in Sunnyvale, who looked at it and were afraid that it was tempered and that they'd break it. A1 referred me here and I couldn't be happier. The woman at the desk was nice and helpful, and the other guy, Danny Bibo (I got his card) helped as well. They made sure it wasn't tempered (they borrowed my polarized sunglasses) and said, sure, we'll run it through the polisher on both ends. Danny did so, measured it for me, and I was happy. Ten bucks. Awesome. The woman was happy to quote me on a custom-cut piece of glass in case mine *was* tempered, and the price was indeed reasonable. They also cut plastic (acrylic or lexan, not sure) but only in rectangles -- they don't do patterns. read more

I was moving some furniture and nicked a picture which caused it to fall and break the glass. I took out the picture and damaged glass and took the empty frame to Franciscan Glass for a replacement. This way I would know I got the correct dimensions which as always would save me a trip. The nice lady that waited on me gave me some glass options for the replacement. I chose to go with the most inexpensive option which only cost me $8.59. They cut the glass and wrapped it up in nice brown butcher paper for me. So I had rather large hallway mirrored slide door (1of3) and a bedroom wardrobe mirrored slide door (1of2) both mirrors had cracks. I used Ezequiel Reyes (408-469-1263) to help me work with the company and contracted him to help repair the doors. He is well known to them and gave us a discount thanks to him. My mirrors were ordered and installed in the old housing at Franciscan Glass onsite shop within 2 week time period. My son kicked a ball though our garage window. It was privacy glass and the first quotes I got to fix it were over $300 for someone to come out, match the glass and replace it. I took a sample of the broken glass to Franciscan glass. They quickly identified the right replacement, and cut a piece exactly the right size. They came out to quote my place - 5 bathrooms.- worked with them on a revised quote as we narrowed down what we wanted. Right before we finalized it, I Noticed they missed a section of one of my bathrooms even though we spoke about that section and I saw him measure it. I asked him about it. Sent 3 follow ups after , called the store and left messages etc . No response. Waste of my time. I was on a tight timeline too, just having to constantly follow up was disappointing after I spent so much time with them already but I can't imagine the service if I did buy my glass from them and something went wrong. read more

The people here are super duper helpful and friendly to boot. I was looking for a (hard to find, it turns out) glass sweep for my sliding glass door. Called Tri-Glass and they were incredibly rude to me. Stopped by here, described my problem, and the woman behind the counter told me they didn't have exactly what I needed, but that maybe they could provide something else? She gave me a sample of a shower sweep that I could test on my door. What I ended up doing was using double stick tape and taping two shower sweeps together to get the width I needed for my sliding glass door. When I was purchasing it, they told me the best way to put on the hi-bond double stick tape (it's really sticky). They were awesome. read more

I broke a small glass panel off a old fashion louvered window. I knew it was a small job and I was expecting either attitude or to be put on some backlog while bigger money projects took precedent. Franciscan Glass found the glass in their inventory and cut it to the size that I needed, all within 20 minutes of arriving. The price was very reasonable as well. The young woman was very nice and had excellent customer service, not only with me, but with other customers as well. She checked up on some previous customer to see how they were doing in the another room before tending to me. She excused herself and said she would only be one moment. You just don't see that level of customer service these days. Franciscan Glass has been around forever and I hope they stay around for another 25 years. My contractor recommended Franciscan glass to replace the glass in our old bathroom windows. Their store had lots of samples to choose from and we found one that looked great. The installation was a little tricky, but their installer did the whole job in a few hours and left the site clean. The windows now look and work fantastic. Minus one star for scheduling (I'd take off 1/2 a star if yelp would let me). Most recently, I requested a quote for a custom piece of glass for a table top. After asking a few pertinent questions I had the quote in less than five minutes at a very reasonable price. About a year ago we were remodeling an upstairs bath which required a large piece of glass that could not fit up the stairs so it was hoisted over the balcony. In the process a small chip occurred on the corner. They immediately returned it to the shop, performed an expert repair and installed the glass later the same day.
