Beautiful ocean view with nice ocean breeze . Very nice and relaxing.

Nice campground with restrooms and showers. Alot of scenic ocean views. You can take a walk along the beach and enjoy the view of plants, sunset, sunrise, waves etc.

Awesome place to camp if you can find a spot. Most sites have electric hookup. Except the best sites (tent only) 36 & 38. 37 is a bit back Hot showers (quarters) nice beach. Can get really windy during the day.

What a beautiful place! Plenty of parking and areas to have a picnic. Wonderful trails for walking/running. You can explore around and walk all the way to the local restaurants /coffee shops. Pretty close to Ritz hotel. A lot of people close to the parking lot but if you walk a bit further, more likely you will be on your own. So peaceful and recharging. Overall, it's one of my favorite places!

Camp is set up. Relaxing weekend.

Weekend getaway We are from Sonoma county and thought we would venture camping at this location. We loved the Panoramic ocean views and lovely sunsets. Also enjoyed the Coastal Trails that pass through the park. Several walking and biking opportunities in either direction (with many inviting spots) to take in the views. Only negative not used to the crowds and everything it brings! Note: Dogs are not allowed on the this particular beach and never have been. However, just down a mile south -you will find --Poplar Beach, which is dog-friendly! Use this link to view other local dog friendly beaches we found. https://www.bringfido.com/attraction/beaches/city/half_moon_bay_ca_us/ We worked around the dog beach limitations at camp: walks and biking. We rode our bikes down the beautiful extensive stretch of bike trail along the coast. Luckily we brought our dog caddy -for when our pup got tired running along side of the bikes. We intended to visit the beach by our camp but ended up biking (on a daily basis) to get to the dog friendly beach. Our daily outing ended up a (perk) because we rode away from busy and loud day use section located next to the camp location. Perk: The campground offers electric hookups to 40 of its 52 sites. Note: book early and camp away from the day use section! It is crowded and you do get day use people walking through the camp sections and at times --your camp!

Perfect camping spot! So close to the beach! With easy access. Stores close by which makes it very convenient

Francis Beach Campground in Half Moon Bay is a lovely campground and the perfect spot to watch the sunset. The Francis Beach Campground is very close to the downtown of Half Moon Bay. It is less than 5 minutes away from driving. You can find many restaurants and stores selling some featured items you can only find in the area. The campground itself is immaculate and well maintained. The campsites have a lot of space between RVs. The campground is not very big, but right next to the ocean. You can bring a chair set in front of the Pacific Ocean and watch a gorgeous sunset with your significant other or your friends and family! The only thing I have to say is this campground is very windy most of the time. Make sure you bring enough clothing, or you will have a Half Moon Bay jacket when you're going home! Lol!

Very nice little state park. Bathrooms very clean. Park is quiet at night. Dogs allowed at campground. Dogs cannot go onto the beach at this spot. Drive in and walk in camping both. Some drive ins have electricity Very windy during the day.

Francis Beach Campground is part of Half Moon Bay State Beach, so one can reserve a spot by going to the State Park website. Reservation fee is $7.99 and the weekend rate is $35.00 per night. The showers are pretty clean , there are four shower rooms in each building ( there are two separate buildings). Restrooms are pretty clean also. Campsites 36, 37 and 38 are right on the beach front which means the views are spectacular but it can get pretty windy and cold especially at night. I personally prefer sites that are not right on the beach front at this particular campground because of the chilly nights. Camp host lady is friendly and helpful, she had no problem giving us changes (quarters for the shower) for $5 bills. You can purchase firewood from her as well. This is a very well maintained campground in my opinion, the ground is well kept , fire ring is a good size and facilities are clean. I also absolutely love the Tuolomne Campground in Yosemite but there's no shower there. (But the views are spectacular) Just like at the San Simeon Campground, you can hear the sound of the waves inside your tent here as well. So far this place is one of my favorite campground. My other favorite campgrounds - Tuolomne at Yosemite San Simeon State Beach New Brighton Beach Big Basin Redwood Costanoa at Pescadero Mammoth Lake

Awesome campground right by the beach in beautiful Half Moon Bay. Enjoy the sound of the ocean waves all night long. Sites are spacious, level and have picnic tables. Electric hook up is available but no water or sewer. They have a dump station for $10. Bathrooms have toilets on one side, coin operated showers on the opposite side of the buildings. One of THE Best campground to enjoy the sunsets by far.

Close to beaches, but no direct quick access from the park grounds.

Lori, the manager, is…read moresuch a nice women and is extremely kind and helpful, we had no issues getting a long term spot for my husband due to his constant change in jobs so he is constantly changing locations for work and they were able to get us a spot immediately for long term stays. The location is great, near downtown and close to everything you need like shops, grocery stores and gas stations. The bike trails that lead to the ocean from the RV Park are INCREDIBLE, we went on bike rides everyday! Side note: I grew up in Half Moon Bay, our family currently doesn't live here anymore but I have a long history with the town and the people who live there. Secondly, At the end of our families stay, we were informed by the park that they were getting complaints about our children... saying they were being too loud, people would occasionally hear them crying, we were playing music (during the day) and they could hear our kids running around inside the trailer.... Our children are 4 and 1 years old.... They were being KIDS!! So someone near us, was that bothered by our children, they had to make a huge deal about it and report us to the front office... My husband has not lived at home in almost 4 years due to his job so when my children and I would come see my husband it was for a week at a time, and that is the ONLY time we get to see him. We have to travel to him, otherwise we don't get to see him AT ALL. I understand nobody knows our situation, which we dont expect people too, but it also made us feel extremely unwelcome after that phone call we received, it made us feel extremely uncomfortable and we felt like we were now being watched because our kids had a couple "bad days". Being from Half Moon Bay, I took this news extremely personal, it made us feel like we were getting "kicked out" or "warned" that if it didn't change, they were going to ask us to leave. All because someone can't handle children being children. My husband has lived in 8 different trailer parks all up and down California and Nevada the last 4 years and we have NEVER had complaints towards our family. There are a ton of retired, working and older tenants who live there full time and apparently some forget what it's like to have kids, or they've never had kids themselves. Unfortunately, we did decide to leave the park. At that time my husband had already lived there full time for over 3 months. My husband was not comfortable having us come visit him if we felt unwelcome and felt like we were going to be watched each time we came. Especially telling our children they can't be themselves while they're there because some people have issues with kids. We genuinely enjoyed our stay there, we had such a great time creating memories as a family, until we didn't. I do recommend staying here if your doing a short term stays because you're gone in a few days so it's not enough time to create an issue, but if you have children and are looking for a long term place, I would not recommend it unless you "KEEP THEM ON A TIGHT LEASH" which is what was told to our new tenant by the park when moving in. And to the front office, I did not create this post to have you reply or feel like you need to "stick up" for your RV Park, it's a GREAT park, I just don't think it's GREAT for children which is the focus of my posting. Thank you for allowing us to stay there for the time we did, but it was time for us to go.

April 18-21, 2025…read more Thought I'd update my review, since it's been almost 8 years! since my prior review. We stayed in one of the sites with water and electricity. I believe there are only 10 or 11 sites with hookups; the rest have no hookups. Even though they don't have hookups, I prefer the sites on the bluff overlooking the ocean, but those are almost impossible to get these days. It's competitive out there when trying to make reservations. We were very happy with our large grassy site with beautiful trees and lots of birds. The sites at this campground are a nice size; it's great to have your own space. Unfortunately, our luck was that there were several big groups of campers here together, and they tended to gather at the campsite near ours. Lots of kids, scooters, bikes, barking dogs, etc. Just families enjoying each other, but it was rather lively. The campground seemed like a different world after these groups departed. Peaceful, even. There is a bit of road noise that you can hear from some of the sites depending on their location; but at night it is quiet enough to hear the owls hoot. There are two trails down to the beach; the one that was closed on my prior visits was open. It's quite a climb, but worth every step. Dog-friendly beaches are always a huge plus in my book. Also a plus is that there are four dump stations ($10). I'll definitely come back--I'll keep trying; someday I might actually get one of those premium sites on the bluff again. Note of caution - if you have a tall rig, some of the trees on the road to the campsites were in need of trimming, so you need to watch carefully. Easy does it. Also, the garbage trucks come through at 6:00 in the morning. Really? At a campground? ....... So if you like to sleep in...forget it.

We were able to find our spot immediately when we arrived. The Sf rv is older and has basic amenities of a heated pool, laundry on site facility and on staff day management M-Su. There are long term tenants at this location mixed with Thousand Trails members and public bookings. This is a older resort with limited space in each site and it can be a tight squeeze due to the size of someone's rv or trailer. People keep to themselves and it's pretty low key. You can walk right out to the gated fence to see the ocean and smell the sweet breeze. You are right off the freeway HWY 1, next to a grocery store and several restaurants.
