Been here many, many times we have walked down to the beach where it is gorgeous, over to the stunningly spectacular Ritz Carlton where we have eaten lunch in the clubhouse toured both the hotel and walked along the golf course a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. As others have said there are stairs to get down to the beach and it is totally worth the walk! Very few parking spots close to beach. The hotel allows beach parking so don't be shy, for such a fancy pants place they are surprisingly accommodating... This particular visit I walked just to see the ocean and smell the salt in the air and snap a few quick photos. I love this beach it's clean and family friendly and gorgeous! Well back to Highway 1where we are going up the coast to see more scenery while keeping our distance until the beaches officially open we are just looking...

Love this beach, as does our dog. It's beautiful and somewhat small, but when it's not crowded it is wonderful. The other dogs we've encountered have all been friendly and they each enjoy running up and down the beach together. The surf is rough, however, and we keep a careful eye on our dog, as we would not want her to get trapped by a sneaker wave.Parking is limited when you come down the road towards the beach initially, but there are 25 spaces allotted by the hotel for beach use. The walk is longer to get to the beach but it's worth it. There is an out house on the walk at the top of the beach path.

Perfect place to go on a rainy day outing. We came to the Ritz Carlton beach on a rainy day inland, but there was no rain at the coast. The coolest thing about going on a rainy day is the beach is empty. You can let your dogs off leash and they can run around and have the best time. at 10 am in a rainy Thursday, the waves are pounding. Afterwards go inside the Ritz- don't need to dress nice- third floor- complimentary hot coffee and tea. There's a fire with warm chairs where you can sip chai tea and chat. Really civilized place!

Nice beach at the end of the Half Moon Bay Ritz Carlton hotel. We park further away where there's a free hidden parking lot, then take the hiking path through the hotel grounds around the golf course. Beach has some stairs to get down to the sand but there's handrails and a landing halfway. Either way, about 20-25 steps to the sand. Beach itself is very quiet and set in so it feels very private. Very few people here, and the hike there was paved and had beautiful views to watch golfers or overlook the water. Watch out for golf carts.

I love this beach we come to this one every time because it's such a beautiful and clean beach me and my husband always bring our chairs and two doggies and find our spot and start relaxing enjoying the view and sipping on a nice bottle of wine it's my favorite thing to do so Cheers e

Nice, clean and quiet beach. The beach is behind Ritz Carlton hotel. The parking lot attendant will give you a gate code to park your car in a covered garage that's only for the beach. Parking shouldn't be an issue because I saw several open parking spaces available. I went in the middle of the day on a weekday. In order to get to the beach you have to walk along a path to the left of the hotel by the golf course. The walk is less than ten minutes and you can see the beach as you walk. It wasn't a lot of people there, which I loved! The beach is pretty big/long which is good for a nice walk. When looking at the water you could see the different colors, dark blue, turquoise then light blue. The water comes up high on the sand. I almost lost my flip flop because the water caught me off guard, lol.

Super long, beautiful beach next to the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay. Staircase leading down to the beach is darn helpful vs. climbing down a bluff, thank you to whoever installed it! The beach is right by the RC's golf course so don't wander off into the green and get hit by a ball. Many folks were there taking pictures with their telephoto lenses. We were simply enjoying the ocean, beach and view. Seashells were scarce. Restrooms are at the top near the small parking lot.

Located next to the Ritz Carlton, this is a beautiful beach! Lots of people with their dogs walking around. A little hilly, but worth the hike! Lots of fresh windy sea air, and photos turn out amazing here. Small parking lot, but we parked at the hotel nearby. The waves were pretty high when we came on New Year's Day, and although there's a lot of people, it is quite peaceful and not too noisy. Loved it!

Very nice beach. Parking is annoying considering there are only like ten spots. And the walk is a bit lengthy with stairs involved so just know not to carry a ton of things.

There's a $10 honorary charge for parking your car where you deposit $10 in cash by the bathrooms although the print is so small I'm pretty half the people there didn't notice at all. Dunes Beach also connects to the rest of the Half Moon Bay Beaches including Venice Beach. Here are some of my observations and things that I liked: - I appreciate that there is both a beach area but also this small park area where people can just watch the views without getting sand on themselves. - As you walk further south along the beach, there becomes a split between the areas vertically along the beach. I'm not sure what the technical name is but there's a running water strait between the sand area which is then kind of hard to continue to walk down the beach as you have to cross the water strait. - The wind is crazy and it is COLD, wear a parka - yes, even when it's July. Okay maybe that's too much but at least bring the option of a parka in case you get cold. Overall, great beach. It does get busy on the weekend though but if you decide to cross the strait, which not many people do, you get to a have a semblance of a private beach.

Talk about a great day at the beach with pals! My friends and I ventured up to Half Moon Bay on a…read moreSaturday afternoon for a beach escape. I recommend driving through Woodside, despite it being a longer route, as the views along the way were stellar. Once you arrive, there's a sandy road leading to a parking lot. The parking lot was mainly full, so we had to park on the side of the road and walk the distance to the parking lot. The parking lot has some horses next to it. It can be a bit confusing once you get to the parking lot.If you want to stand above a cliff and look down, then being at the parking lot is perfect for you. But, if you would like to feel the sand beneath your toes or hop in the ocean for a dip, be ready for a trek down a large cliff. It did feel very scary, intimidating, and dangerous - especially since my friends were carrying large bags down - but it's a necessary evil journey down to enjoy the beach in its full glory. I do not recommend wearing flip flops if you're planning on going down to the beach, as it can be easy to slip down the cliff. I also wouldn't recommend going down if it was raining, as it can be very slippery due the large incline and pure height of the cliff. The beach is really long and was relatively empty when we had climbed down. There aren't any benches to sit on, so bring some seats or blankets to enjoy the view. The water is very cold, like many NorCal beaches, and there weren't any people swimming in it. Despite it turning gloomy, the views from the actual beach were beautiful, and in my opinion, worth the hike down. Also, like other beaches in NorCal, there was a windy breeze so bring a layer! We stayed until dark since we wanted to watch the sunset. If you thought it was hard going down, imagine scaling the cliff, carrying our own bags and trash bags, and in the dark. We had to use our phone flashlights to light the way, as there was no lighting around the beach or any of the cliffs other than some near the parking lot. I recommend just watching the sunset from the top to be safe. Overall, if you're okay with hiking down a cliff to access a beach, or even just admiring the view from the parking lot, Redondo Beach is a viable option for you. It's a bit hard to access and dark at night, but we thought it was totally worth it for the view, beach vibe, and good times with friends. We'll be back for another outing!

Great for a stroll or go biking on their trails or hanging out at the beach and watching the waves from the top cliff or on the beach. Good for mountain biking as there are some rough patches of trails you can use as well as flat. Love the white soft sand on the beach. Parking here can be scarce so come early but at least, it's free. [61R,2024]
