I paid the New England regional rate since I do not live in Massachusetts, but it was still quite reasonable.

I decided to do a career shift during and after COVID which lead me to Mass Bay Community College…read more This was a horrific decision to attend Mass Bay Community College. It is true that trying to find the college tends to be quite a challenge as one reviewer alluded to on February 10, 2017. I wish that I had actually read the reviews about this institution before taking the time and energy that I expended to attend this institution of Higher Education. Firstly any person who is a parent especially of a student with special needs, I urge you to read this and to make sure that if your child takes classes at this institution you must be diligent to help and make sure that everything that the student needs to succeed is being supplied and that the instructor is not taking any short cuts or lying to his upper management about the work that he is doing. Hold the staff and the instructors accountable when need be. After this experience at Mass Bay Community College with instructor Michael Ifel, and the Dean of Students, and the President of the College and many others in between. I have been left overwhelmed with Mass Bay Community Colleges's inability to perform a simple investigation of the problem that I was faced with caused by their own instructor who was not performing up to standard. In the classroom when I explained that I had a learning disability and how I am most likely to give effective responses to the questions that were being asked of me. The instructor blurted out loudly in front of all the students in the classroom, "I DON'T CARE HOW YOU LEARN" When I brought this to the attention of Michael Ifel's immediate supervisor, she pretty much dismissed me and I received not even a minute of an apology. Now if that is not disgusting coming from an institution of Higher Education! Then there came time for me to complete the class with an assigned provider for my 400 hour required hospital learning experience towards completing my class and subsequently completing sufficient hours towards becoming certified in my new vocation. What happened? Michael Ifel assigned me to go to a Hospital facility. I went to this facility after a few days of going I discovered that not only was I not receiving training but my health and safety for living were being put in jeopardy. How is that? When I showed up I was told that I needed to clean out case carts that would come back from the Operating room, Emergency room, day surgery area's etc. these carts were filled with blood, bones and untold amounts of diseases. When I explained that I did not want to go back there based on the fact that I had not been given proper PPE nor education around this issue. I was then given permission from the instructor Ifel to not go back to that placed of which he had placed me. Then I was told that he would find me another placement. It took him some time to find another placement that I could agree to because I did have to travel there and I needed to take everything into consideration. The instructor then conveyed to myself and a few other people in a meeting that he had found a place that I could do my 400 hours and they were willing to have me. After this meeting I spent a few months and completed my 400 hours going back and forth to the medical facility. I started my hours usually by 7am and finished sometime in the early afternoons. I did this without fail and without any complaints to the school or the instructor. Afterwards I reached out to the instructor as he had not come at all to visit my new cite to see how I was performing and as he had told us in the classroom that he would. I told him I completed the 400 hours. He congratulated me. I then asked about graduating he followed up and told me what I needed to do to retrieve my grade and graduate. I did everything that he had asked of me to do. During the classroom portion of my learning experience I was told that I was looking at an A- When it came time to graduate and receive a grade. He never told me anything, nothing at all was a problem that I was aware of. After consistently reaching out to him and asking the registrar's office and numerous others at the college. I finally found out in 2023 or 2024 that the instructor gave me an F and I could not get my certificate. I reached out the President of the college David Podell in writing to convey what had happened to me. I never received a response back until my second attempt. I also reached out to his Executive Assistant, I reached out the registrar's office, I was in constant communication with with the school and over and over I was ping ponged over to someone new. Or in the case of Joshua CheneyThe Associate Dean of Students I was told over and over and over that he would speak with the instructors supervisor staff. In fact he kept putting me off asking when I reached out if anyone had contact me when I said no, he would let me know that he would reach out to them to find out what was happening.

I recently checked out Mass Bay as a possible place to apply for nursing school. I attended one of…read moretheir info sessions, and this review is based off that experience. First of all, this campus is one of the tiniest campuses I've ever seen. Blink and you'll miss Mass Bay in its entirety. Perhaps I missed some buildings? but it appeared there was only one main building, which had four floors, plus a student parking lot outside of it. The "main building" (in the event that there are others) is extremely confusing to navigate. While it's a cool example of 1960s brutalist architecture, it's not fitting at all for student use. If you're planning on visiting Mass Bay (or attending here), be sure to familiarize yourself with how to get to each one of the different floors. Believe me, it's more convoluted than you think. Perhaps it was during off-peak, but it seemed like the place was completely empty. If you get lost, there's a welcome desk right inside the doors. Re-start your search there. The staff that I encountered (for the nursing program), were literally the best and worst examples of professionalism. Dr. Collins was a wonderful, informative lecturer, who I could tell, would be an excellent professor, if she taught any classes. She was incredibly helpful and stayed to answer a whole slew of questions I had, even encouraging me *not* to apply to Mass Bay, because it wasn't the best school for me. The other staff member we interacted with was Tony, who apparently, was in charge of admissions. During the entire info session, Tony sat slumped in a chair near the doorway, on his cell phone, completely oblivious to what was going on for over an hour and a half. The info packets he provided us did not contain any of Dr. Collins' power point slides (despite her requesting it), and any questions that were asked of him were met with blank stares and "we can talk about it later"s. He never actually got up to discuss any of these questions. If he is any indication of how Mass Bay runs their admissions, I'd be concerned for your application (and education at Mass Bay). What I can recommend is that you set up a meeting with an adviser in your preferred major, go over your questions one-on-one, and be sure that you have a good understanding of whether or not Mass Bay is the right fit for you. On a side note, they also have a Wellesley campus, which looks much more like a traditional college.
