This…read moreis the school I ultimately graduated from, and looking back, I can honestly say it was a fantastic place for me. At the time, I didn't always appreciate everything the teachers and staff were doing for me. There were definitely times when I felt like they were too hard on me or pushing me more than I thought I could handle. But now, years later, I understand that they were trying to help prepare me for life after high school. The teachers at Colebrook challenged me, supported me, and held me accountable. They saw potential in me, even when I didn't always see it in myself. They helped me build confidence, develop important skills, and understand that having learning challenges doesn't mean you can't be successful. Today, I own and operate a successful plumbing and heating company with 15 employees, four of whom are on the autism spectrum. Running a business comes with challenges every day, and I still use many of the lessons and skills I learned at Colebrook. I don't know where I would be today if I hadn't attended Colebrook High School. The education, structure, support, and guidance I received there helped shape the person and business owner I've become. To the teachers and staff who worked with me, thank you. I probably didn't always make your jobs easy, and I didn't always appreciate everything you were doing for me at the time. But I appreciate it now more than you know. I know I'm posting this way too late, but I hope all is well with everyone. Colebrook was a fantastic school, and I'm grateful that it was the place where I graduated. Thank you for believing in me and helping me become the person I am today.

While driving…read moreto an appointment in Waltham I encountered a Case Collaborative Transportation Van who's driver was in an apparent hurry. Tailgating the vehicle in front of her for approximately 3 or 4 miles and breaking hard, I was apalled at the way the driver would operate a school bus van with its school bus and red lights sign in the raised position. I know not every driver for Case Collaborative operates in this manner however I would personally never allow my child to be seated in one of their vans. I opted to make a formal complaint with their transportation department out of the safety for the children and other commuters. With my wife driving I opted to take a picture of the vehicle in question and would post it to this review but out of respect will refrain from doing so.

Since I'm driving again, I only use it for times that parking is a nightmare, like the airport or to the State Fair, but I found out that I could use similar service while visiting other cities. Bonus! After doing some pre-leg work to get an account, my husband and I were able to call ahead and schedule The Ride to pick us up and take us anywhere we wanted to go in Boston for TWO BUCKS each ride! We never had to take a bus or train, and the longest we ever waited was five minutes. Forget taking a trolley ride of the city, we had tour guides wherever we went-local drivers that were happy to give us the scoop! It was much more organized that the system in Minnesota-professional, courteous, and made traveling with a disability much easier than it would have been if I had to take buses, trains, and taxis, or if we had to rent a car in order to see the city. This way I was able to focus on having a great trip even though walking long distances is hard for me. This was a great service!

They are firing many of the drivers if they have the slightest, routine health defect (which is just about everyone). They have too few drivers and are routinely half an hour to 45 minutes late. I have been late for many appointments. My driver Thursday told me they just have too few drivers now. When you call to ask where your ride is, they are told to say it's just around the corner. When you call in another 15 minutes, they routinely lie again. It's really a shame that handicapped and mobility impaired people are treated like this. But, we're not the 1%, so many feel we don't deserve anything.
