The process of interviewing pole building construction companies was daunting, to say the least. Having no knowledge to begin with as to how they are normally constructed and best practices, etc. we relied heavily on online reviews --- which, can by down-right frightening. Based on a few of the major competitor's reviews, at one point we even thought maybe we should just avoid a pole building and build a giant garage instead. Unfortunately, and understandably, most online reviews will be negative by nature. Most people who feel they have gotten a raw deal will, simply by virtue of human nature, will only speak up when they have a complaint. That being considered, we forged ahead and did as much of our own research as we could while interviewing sales reps from four of the major players in the pole building industry here in SE Wisconsin. We chose Lester mainly because of the sales rep and his awesome efforts to answer each and every question that we came up with, as well as the fact that he treated us with complete respect. He never once made us feel like we were unreasonable or that his potential paycheck was most important to him. He showed genuine concern for our needs. The other major deciding factor as to why we chose Lester was because of their superior roof system, their framing system and post construction as well as the quality of their exterior wall panels. The quality of the building materials and building process were important to us because we wanted our building to be air and water tight! To make a long story short ... the entire staff at Lester were super! Lester's staff exceeded our expectations: Brad Hovden (our sales rep), Sandra Dierauer (our project manager), Bob and Martin (warehouse & delivery), and finally, and most importantly, Luke (and his whole construction crew) - We are so glad that we chose Lester Buildings to construct our pole building --- we thank everyone at Lester Buildings and we would highly recommend them to anyone considering a pole building!

I don't recommend buying a Lester Building at all, I bought one and just weeks ago I had to pay an…read moreAmish Crew to come in and fix all the problems with my Lester Building. Lester shorted me things like dripstop for the house portion of my building and exterior plywood, they engineered the exterior plywood to only go up to the bottom of the soffit, even though I told them I wanted it on all the exterior walls. They should have engineered it up to the bottom of the trusses. Lesters Bldgs. Regional Manager provided me with one of their Lester Bldgs. Dealer/Builders named C&C Construction, Willis Childress is owner, Lester advised me that their Lester Dealer/Builder C&C Construction could build my building in my time frame and also told me that they do "Good Work", which turned out to be a lie. When this Lester Bldgs. Dealer/Builder built my building, the owner told me that if he had to come back for any repairs it would be a $500 minimum and then left town. Just weeks later we had our first rain and I found that I had 25 leaks in my roof. Well I wasn't going to pay this Lester Dealer/Builder $500 to come back and fix his screw up, so I ended up fixing them myself and when I did I found that this Lester Dealer/Builder had installed screws in my roof that had missed the Purlins. It took me 2 years to finish and move into my building at which time I found additional problems which were, some nights it sounded like my roof was going to blow off and a lot of rattling that I thought was the soffit. I finally decided that come warm weather I had to have these problems fixed, so I called in an Amish Crew from Graber Bldgs who found several problems. Before I paid this Amish crew to fix my building I called Lester Bldgs Regional Manager out who, after I told him about the problems, was shocked, and I asked him for help fixing my Lester Building, but after he spoke with Lester Upper Management, he said Lester Bldgs doesn't feel responsible for any of my building issues. I even asked Lester Bldgs if they could at least give me a discount on the soffit materials I needed for the repairs and they again said no. So I went ahead and paid the Amish Crew from Graber Bldgs to come in and fix my Lester Building and the following is what they found: (8) Roof Purlins not nailed, not one nail holding them in place, which would explain why it sounded like my roof was going to blow off. Soffit: They used vented soffit all the way around the building, even on the gables which should have been solid soffit, and a lot of the soffit only had 1 staple holding it on which would explain the rattling I was hearing. The staples used only penetrated 3/8" into the facia board. Facia Boards: Some facia boards were barely on the trusses and the nails had missed the trusses. Facia Cover: Facia cover not cut to fit and dropped down almost an inch on ends. Gaps/Openings in Valleys: There were gaps/openings in my roof valleys that allowed wind to blow in that had blown my insulation away in those areas and was allowing cold wind to blow into my furnace plentum/duct work. I'm sure rain was coming in too. After I turned Lester Bldgs into the Better Business Bureau they responded by putting most of the blame on their Lester Dealer/Builder, C&C Construction, but Lester Buildings is at fault too. Lester Bldgs. shorted me dripstop and plywood and engineered the exterior incorrectly, and provided me with their Lester Buildings Dealer/Builder, C&C Construction. Lester Bldgs. told me that their Lester Dealer/Builder could build my building in my time frame and that they did "Good Work". Yes, the Lester Bldgs. Dealer/Builder did poor workmanship on my building, but I never would have even known this Lester Bldgs. Dealer/Builder even existed if Lester Bldgs. had not provided them to me and with a reference. I paid the Amish Crew from Graber Buildings a lot of money to fix my Lester Building, but I should never had to do that, Lester Buildings to this day excepts no responsibility for anything that has occurred. As I said, they put most of the blame on their Lester Dealer/Builder, but I would bet that this Lester dealer/builder is still a Lester Bldgs. Dealer/Builder to this day.

This started a back and forth where he claimed that I wanted it for free, and he wouldn't move off of that. Every other vendor seemed to understand, kind of offensive to basically be called a free loader. I just wanted some advice, and would pay them to do the work. YMMV, but I thought the whole exchange was very telling. Stay safe out there, these are crazy times. Edit: Option D. None of your business how I ended up here, but implying a potential client may not have paid is a reflection on you and your business. How you got the "lead" is irrelevant, I am pointing out your response. But keep adding, I'm sure potential clients will be thrilled with the prospect of working with you and your attitude.

in life, there are three criteria for people putting up with you and your work; being on time,…read moredoing good work, and being likable and easy to work with. as long as you have two of these things, you'll stick around. at master framers, i did not have two of these things. i came into the shop with a print i wanted framed for a christmas present shortly after thanksgiving. i was told it would be ready by december 13th at the latest but probably on the 10th. i walked in on the 17th assuming that would be plenty of time, but the pieces of the frame hadn't even been called in yet. i left and received a call the next morning saying it was ready... that was quick! it didn't seem to take too long once they remembered it had to get done. unfortunately, that was my last chance to drive to st paul between my jobs before christmas and i wasn't able to pick up my package until a few days after christmas. not during the ordering process, nor when i was told it was very late, or when i finally picked up the finished product, not one smile. out of the three times i was helped, customer service was not. great. i was not offered even a small complimentary refund as an apology for the inconvenience. the only thing i can say for master framers is that... well, it got done. eventually. and it did look great. i wish i would've shopped around more for a better price. i will not use master framers again.

But I could not be happier with the finished product! Your network refers people for a reason, just have to trust it sometimes! The owner, Ron, is highly responsive- takes a ton of pride in his work. His crew is efficient, friendly and work together like they've been together forever. I was amazed how fast the crew worked, and how much pride each of them took in the project. They cleaned up daily, used quality materials and the quality of the finished product is amazing! We purchased an older home, built in 1921, in the Summit Hill neighborhood of Saint Paul. It was in…read moreterrible condition -- a "fixer upper." It was the ugly duckling on the block. One local news celebrity who lives nearby described it as the "outlier" on the block. Gee thanks... It was in bad need of new siding and windows throughout. We knew about Hoffman Weber (HW) and Jason Iwig from previous dealings at our old house in Bloomington. (Those dealings resulted in a separate five-star review on Angie's List). So, when HW's estimate for windows and siding came back in the same ballpark as a couple of other very reputable companies, we immediately retained HW as our contractor. Jason met with us immediately after we committed to the project. He's extremely knowledgeable when it comes not only to the various siding products available but especially with respect to customizing design and aesthetic, with great attention to details like jut-outs, standard siding for lower and shake siding for upper, and decorative corbels etc. He was also able to provide several financing options from cash to a ten-year loan with relatively good rates. He was able to approve us on the spot. Jason then handed the project management over to Pete (for windows) and Tim (for siding), who served as the foremen of their respective projects by making regular visits and ensuring their crews had more than enough material on site to get the job done. Like Jason, Pete and Tim are extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, and professional, and always available to answer questions or address concerns, always in a satisfactory (reasonable) manner. Our installers were meticulous with attention to detail, right down to the replacement of cable tv cords along the house. Everything had to be perfect with the siding and windows. Yes, this meant a somewhat slower completion time, but I'll take slightly slow and meticulous over fast and sloppy any day. Our satisfaction always seemed of primary concern for them. Our 1921 house at 1116 Saint Clair Ave was an "outlier" in the neighborhood when we moved in, for all the wrong reasons. Now it's an outlier for all the right reasons. With Jason's help and artistic flair, we decided to use Hardie siding in the color Countrylane Red, with Arctic White trim. But we chose Birch Bark for the shake siding up on top, with a jut-out supported by corbels. We're happy. Our new neighbors are ecstatic. And passersby on Saint Clair stop to tell us how impressed they are. We really couldn't be happier with the job Hoffman Weber did for us, and we very sincerely hope those who read this review consider them for their project. Big thanks to Jason, Pete, Tim, and Boris, and all the administrative staff at the office who stayed in close touch throughout the entire process, with very accurate timelines etc.

Spent around $120K on siding, windows, gutters, soffits, facia, and other remodels. In less than 2…read moreyears, I had siding and trim fall off the house and my windows leaked water last winter causing well over $50K worth of damage. Hoffman Weber won't call me back or honor their warrranty! Beware!
