Excellent cooperative art gallery! Lots of fine works that are well arranged and reasonably priced…read more(for art). Your choice of paintings, jewelry, sculpture, wood prints, photography, etc. The artist of the day was Phil and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. I came away with an interesting print (redacted photography by Tom Saknit) and a couple of nice cards by Stephanie Johnson.

Nominally priced, handmade and one of a kind...like all of the art in this very fine waterfront cooperative. I try to go by the gallery three or four times a year. My visits are as much about chatting with the artists as they are about looking at (or purchasing) art. Each artist is in charge of the gallery for two days a month. So...let me tell you a bit about what I know. The PT Gallery is not voted number one gallery in town. That distinction would go to Gallery 9 which is at the other end of Water Street. But the Port Townsend Gallery *should* win an award for having the most varied art available for purchase...probably in all of Port Townsend. On this visit, I found some unique lifesized "people" made out of various types of cloth. Absolutely amazingly beautiful. Spoke with the "cashier" of the day, who makes wonderful silver chain jewelery. And is also the coordinator for the local food bank. Checked out various paintings. Had I extra cash, I would have bought several...although I'm gonna need to put up some more walls in my house if I keep coveting paintings! The "garden" was open despite the mildly bracing weather, so I went outside outside to have a look at new treasures there. And, tah-duhh...there was the stone carved vase I'd been looking for forever. Only, I didn't even know such a thing existed until the moment it caught my eye. Its now in my stairwell as I have mentioned. Enjoy the Gallery. Enjoy its artist-participants. And if you really want to experience the place, plan to pass through on an Art Walk evening. The first Saturday of the month...refreshments served at the Gallery on Art Walk evenings aren't shabby either.

Called the week before the 2nd and was told they would be closed from the 4th of July through the weekend opening up again on Monday the 8th. I said I would be in on the 3rd to pick them up. We don't live in Port Townsend but have a summer home there and come up on the weekends. When I got there early on the 3rd the prints were not ready. Was told they would try to get them done before closing that day. Stopped by at 5 pm and they weren't ready. Was then told that the assistant would come in on the 5th and do the framing and call me when they were ready. No call, nothing. Stopped by on the 5th and they were closed up. I called again on Monday 8th and was told they aren't open on weekends at all (which is the only days we are up there) and they offered no solution at all on how I was to get these other than me taking a day off of work and driving up. So then I had worked out a deal with my real estate agent whose office is just up the street. I asked if the frame shop could drop them off at the real estate office and I would pick them up that Saturday. Got to their office that Saturday and the prints were there. But my real estate agent had to go and pick them up!! The frame shop couldn't seem to find any time between Monday and Friday to drive the few blocks up the street to take them in so my agent was nice enough to pick them up. Completely unprofessional and lacking in all customer service skills. The prints look great but they were expensive and coupled with the major hassle of just getting them back I would never recommend this place. Lots of frame shops do great work. Find one that knows how to treat customers. This one does not.

Mandy literally worked miracles for me the week before my wedding and I cannot recommend her enough…read moreI ordered a dress from an Etsy shop online (not Mandy) because I wanted something colorful and non traditional. I knew it was risky and the timeframe was really short and long story short it ended up being a bad choice - the dress I ordered was awful! With only one week before my wedding I rushed to Davids Bridal to try to find a dress off the rack. Obviously though, going to a bridal shop, non-traditional dresses are hard to come by and the best I could find was a cute ivory tea length, A-line dress. I really wanted something colorful and floral still so I found some floral tulle at JoAnne's and then searched for a local seamstress to see if anyone local could figure out something to do with my boring ivory dress, and in just a matter of days! Oh and the shoulders needed to be taken in as well!! Mandy was quick to respond, invited me to her home-based shop and said she could do it and would have it done by the next day!! It was even better than I expected! Like a whole new dress and fit like a glove!! I felt absolutely beautiful and received countless compliments! I highly recommend Mandy! Not only an excellent designer and seamstress, but also extremely kind and great to work with! Thank you Mandy for saving the day and making me feel so beautiful on my special day!!!!

I have some experience in the building trades and was impressed by what I saw both in the quality of work and by the simple fact that unlike many Contractors/Subs these days, when Spane's crew got started, they didn't stop until the project was finished. In early 2025 I decided I wanted to build a 30'x32' shop at my house for my own use. I got bids from 5 different contractors and I decided on Spane for three main reasons: First, in my initial and subsequent meetings with Michelle, their designer and estimator, I learned she was very knowledgeable, personable, and very easy to work with. She took me through the entire design/build process from the beginning to the end, cheerfully answered my questions and put up with me changing my mind several times during the process. Because of her thoroughness, there were no surprises from start to finish. She made it easy. Second, Spane's bid came in the lowest, but I thought it was reasonable as I had done my own estimate of materials and labor based on current costs. (Unlike some of these Contractors around here who jack their bids up to try to make a years profit from a 2 month project...) Third, and most important, over the years I had seen for myself the quality of their work and at the end of my build, my new shop is exactly what I expected and exactly what I wanted. In today's world, Spane actually understands and pursues customer satisfaction and I can't recommend them highly enough.
