This was my first time trying Pilates. The instructors have been great. So glad I decided to come here!

With the lack of photos/good reviews, I was skeptical to try this place-- but it's close to home so…read moreI tried it out anyway. The studio was clean & the hot yoga was HOT which is all I look for! Keep in mind, every studio practices differently. This studio mainly offers a "Hot Yoga Class" & does the same 26 poses every time-- I tried different instructors & it seems they all follow a script. The instructors helped me out by correcting my form & some explained the health benefits of certain poses during class which I thought was nice!

Holy hotness that was an experience! I like to experiment but I don't think I'll be sticking with…read morethe hot yoga again. Regardless of my preference, Barkan Hot Yoga was wonderful to me. I was treated with open arms and kindness. The studio is very clean and they have strict but reasonable rules that patrons follow (see their website). I highly recommend a heavy towel, water and a mat. There is 1 bathroom and it includes a shower, which is spotless. When the class begins it seems innocent, a little sweaty and the instructor starts off easy. By the end of class I was dripping like I walked through the splash zone of an amusement park. The word 'hot' in hot yoga is an understatement. I'm pretty sure hell is only a few degrees higher. I knew I could leave at any time but momma didn't raise a quitter. I made it through! My body felt rejuvenated compared to its normal self, but I can't put myself through that heat again. Wow, that was HOT.

As someone who's gone to this gym from time to time, there are a few pros & cons that I will list…read moreout in detail to help you better understand as to whether or not this gym is for you! Pros: The gym has a LARGE amount of amenities. There are two basketball courts (which are also used for pickleball), an indoor lap pool with hot tubs, an outdoor swimming area with slides (at an extra charge). There are classes, a ton of different machines for both cardio and lifting, and a really clean and upscale atmosphere. People tend to mind their own business and the staff have on average been helpful, at least in my experience. There is also a kids "daycare" if that's what you call it. A lot of parents will use this so they can have time to work out and actually work. There's a little area right next to the cafe that has tables and outlets. I see a lot of people with MacBooks doing work. They probably work remotely. Who knows. Cons: The price point for this gym is definitely the highest of them all coming in at $220.00 a month per person. IF you are married or you can prove cohabitation, you can add an additional person on your account for around $100 a month. This gym definitely has a crowd that is very gymcentric. This isn't a bad thing. But some people who are looking for a more chill or less intimidating atmosphere may think twice. I was one of these people until I decided to just not care. But that's easier said than done. The gym can be exceptionally crowded at peak hours. So if you plan on going daily I'd do my very best to avoid late afternoons on weekdays and nights on weekends. I was hoping the bathroom situation would be a little better but, there seems to be 2 bathrooms for ladies and men of course (from what I've seen). And with the amount of people there sometimes, it can be a little bit hectic. The locker room is fine and the showers are just average. At the price point of $220.00 I was expecting some futuristic pod shower than also does your taxes but, we all can't have what we want. The outside swimming area is an additional monthly charge, by the way. Conclusion: So take it or leave it. The price point is HIGH, but there are a lot more amenities and options for machines than any other gym out there. Is that justified? I don't really know. So three stars. Until they have a robot that does my taxes, then it might go to 4.

Honestly, it seemed insanely crowded with the usual suspect machine hogs and the perma-tanned preening that you can enjoy for free on South Beach. Pro-tip... you can probably outfit a fairly decent home gym for six months of dues. But what do I know. Three stars for the grins.
