I went as part of a new Meetup group for those of us who want to go to cultural actives with others…read moreand not alone. Wonderful choice for the first event. The art house worked with Maybury State Park to have a group of local artists go for 3 days and produce paintings that shows the beauty and places in the park. Most did 3 or 4 paintings in different type of mediums depending on the artists strengths. The group went to the Live @ 5 Reception that opened the exhibit. Tickets were $35 for non members. Appetizers, 2 drink tickets, and live music from a harpist and a flute player from the Michigan Philharmonic. You also got to look at the art, shop the gift shop, meet some of artists and see the awards given out for the top pieces. A pleasant way to spend part of an evening talking to other art lovers and enjoying a cool summer evening while helping out a local organization that supports the arts. Looking forward to the event in September.

Viewing the exhibit is free of charge but donations are welcomed. The current exhibit is "Art That Pushes Boundaries" featuring the work of local artists. In addition to the exhibit, I noticed that a painting canvas kit was available for donation. The art house offers in-person classes including visual art training. Wouldn't it be nice if every town had an art house with exhibits and art education programs like this one? This is a wonderful community resource and I will be stopping by whenever there is a new exhibition.

These tiles which were the focus of my trip can be used as standalone art pieces, high end artistic back splashes, accent pieces and the list goes on and on. I am considering buying a beautiful Calaveras tile (Mexican Day of the dead celebration represented by colorfully decorated skull) for the tequila station I have in my basement bar. This is just one example of the some of the uses for these artistic tiles as they can add beauty in so many ways to your home. Overall I am a big fan of this business. Seemed simple -- but then I had to remove this floor to ceiling blind and bring it back to them. No warranty! And it is going to cost upwards of $150 for a repairman to replace a cord. When I contested this issue, they said they are no longer a Hunter-Douglas authorized repair center. I asked why -- they said to take it up with Hunter Douglas, as they had no idea why. I then called Hunter Douglas and they said that Windows & Walls knows why. Anyway, Hunter Douglas referred me to Times for Blinds who is an authorized repair center for them. Major runaround, and it would be good to know what the process and warranties are - before you buy.

The owner did return the collection only to be thrown into bags and boxes like trash. All of them that were in the original boxes were returned in bags,now the value is greatly depreciated. It was bad from the start,first we were not properly informed of the auction or given the chance to see the display,which was horribly thrown into piles for auctioning. I expressed my concerns and the owner had his goons buy out the auction,which is illegal to do I'm sure! They did not even display all of the collection,he said they were broken or damaged! We have pictures of how they left my home in the owners care,when we finally picked them up there are over 1500 pieces broken and some unfixable! My grandfather collected these for over 70 years to be thrown around like nothing,he knew the sentimental value as well as the dollar value! I was consigning this collection to save my grandfather's family home and now this experience has left me with half the collection good and half broken due to their negligence and disrespectful business ethics.worst experience I've ever seen.
