But a vivid memory. I remember LOTS OF color and lots of beauty. This store has that too!! There are SO many cute and affordable gifts in this store. I got my son a wooden glider plane because even though he's 10 he still LOVES making paper airplanes and flying them. I also got him a change purse, one of those cute sandwich plastic coin purses we all had as kids that says "candy money." I bought quite a few cards there and I got myself the line a day memory journal, which is the "One Line a Day," for 5 years. For ME. Everything about this store is curated so well. Adults have plenty to choose from: Fred items, funny and kitchy cards and beautiful gifts. They also have so many beautiful tissue papers and gift wraps and bags. Not to mention that the store ITSELF is beautiful! I really need this woman to come and design a space for me. Because it was so beautiful, well curated. Asthetically pleasing, and inviting. I will be back if I'm in NOLA again. Otherwise PLEASE visit this adorable store!!

I went across the river came back at 2:15, waited in line since 2:30.. While in line cooking in the sun, watched at least 8 employees walk around the store, watching us wait in the line in the hot sun. There was a line because of these new lil dumpling squished that are trending and only Five Below supposedly have the authenic squishes..A sign on the door all day said, Dumpling Squishes, 3 per customer per person. The doors open at 3 and we walk in I asked the first employee I saw where the Dumplings were and he said, I know yall wasnt waiting on those because we dont have any. Everyone that was in the line faced dropped We were hoping they were telling us a joke.. Some ppl dedicated their entire day to grabbing at least 1 of those toys. Fighting in traffic, leaving work and so on.. Why would they have a sign up if they were out? And why didn't out of 8 employees did not 1 come to the door while we were sweating in the heat and waiting to tell us they didn't have the dumplings. 1 of the employees said with an attitude and frown, in their defense they didn't know what we were standing in line for. Yeah right! When does Five Below ever have a line outside the store?! This is bad business. Unprofessional and inconsiderate.

Think about it, in the big scheme of things, $5 is essentially nothing. And I think that's the idea behind this store. Stopping in to get a $5 phone charger, is easy-peasy-lemony-squeezy... that is until you see the phone charger and so much more. Get what I'm saying? At anyrate, this review is about the store and my experience, not my marketing analysis. Lol. We stopped in to spend a $5 gift card to 5 Below and left out having spent an additional $195. I couldn't believe it, but yes, it happened. We got phone chargers, LED light bulbs, toys & toys & more toys, workout equipment, beach towels, insulated bags and... so much useful stuff to choose from until, I totally understand the money we did spend. Anything that you can think of is here and for just $5 and maybe a few more pennies. The gentleman, whose name I didn't get, was sooooo helpful & involved. He assisted us on every request. He provided larger bags for the full pirates booty of goodies we purchased. He is to be commended!!! It would be amazing if all employees possessed the tenacity, kind-spirited, customer centric attitude... he was stellar!!! Ooohhh to be noted, some items are less than $5... I purchased some 3 for $1 Now-laters!!! Love the candy selection merges the old with the new... Zeros & Gummi lunch boxes!!!! Yesssss!!!! Of course, I'll be back, but until then... $5 Below is the GOAT!!!!

This past year I've had a thing for purchasing copper jewelry- most bracelets from South Korea, Mexico City, Tijuana and Mt. Charleston. Wondered if anyone ever made copper necklaces. I saw a few vendors that had thick linked chains. I bought the medium $45 length- tax is high in New Orleans. Far cry from dainty but copper is supposed to be good for arthritis and health. Ok let's see.

Congested with wandering tourists, most of the vendors sell items that could be found at any flea market in the country. A lot of the souvenirs and clothing fell way short in reflecting authentic New Orleans craftsmanship. I was hoping for a market more along the lines of Barcelona's La Boqueria with bounties of fresh produce and appetizing edibles, but there was just a row of fast food kiosks beyond the beignets at Cafe du Monde. Without a doubt, the highlight of the market was the strolling groups of musicians randomly playing jazz to enraptured tourists. RELATED - Exploring New Orleans?
