I found a 5x7 inch negative while going through my grandmothers belongings after her death. I don't know what it was like to be a small business owner in the 1920's and 30's But my grandparents did. I remember listing to all the stories about Chicago; fighting with the unions, or the power authority when the area went electric. My Grandmother passed away some years back and in going though her belongings I found an old negative. It appeared to be of my grandfather in the machine shop he owned in Chicago. I was surprised to learn how problematic finding someone, Anyone, to make a traditional Black and white print from an 5 x 7 negative. Finely, a friend at work told me to check out North Bay Silver Lab in Napa. I talked to Manual the owner, and he quoted me a fair price and explained the process clearly. When I received my prints back I was stunned, The quality of work was suitable for a museum. My only regret is that I did not have North Bay Silver Lab mount and frame my prints. If you have negatives and you want something that will last generations, You should contact North Bay Silver Lab. I highly recommend!

My wife and I had a very disappointing experience at Virtual Framing in the Solano Town Center. She…read morefound a poster she liked, displayed in a clear plastic holder with multiple copies, and began pulling one out--assuming, as anyone might, that they were available for purchase directly from the display. Instead of a polite correction or guidance, the owner abruptly stormed out from the back and shouted "WHOA WHOA WHOA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"--startling both of us. My wife apologized immediately and tried to explain we weren't aware there was a specific process, but that didn't stop him from continuing to raise his voice and snatching the poster from her hands. He then gave us an unnecessarily condescending lecture about how "it's really just common sense." Even after my wife apologized again and said she would remember for next time, he kept going. His tone was rude, patronizing, and completely disproportionate to the situation. We decided to leave without buying anything because we simply didn't want to be treated that way. To the owner: if you don't want customers touching merchandise, that's completely understandable--but then clearly post signs asking people not to handle items without assistance. Don't assume people know your process, and definitely don't talk down to them when they make a simple mistake. Your behavior was unprofessional, and it ruined what should have been a simple, pleasant shopping experience. We won't be returning, and we sincerely hope others are treated with more basic courtesy and respect than we were.
