I bought an original acrylic on canvas in 2022 from an artist I have known since 1976. It was a 40"…read morex 40" painting on a 2" x 2" pine stretcher, a standard he had been using for decades. I showed it to Craig at Kay's Place who gave me several frame moulding options. He gave me a price and I left the painting. Then without my consent, he removed the canvas painting from the artists wood stretcher and re-stretched it on a narrower 1" x 2" stretcher. I didn't know about this until he called and said it was ready. I came and picked it up, then hung this on the wall. The following day, a ripple in the canvas could be seen in the upper right corner. I returned with the painting a day later and asked that he fix the problem. I got it back a few days later, and soon after, the ripples returned on both sides now. More than a year later, I still see rippled canvas from a poor framing job.

I didn't know that there is a pocket of stores tucked away on the south side of Kingston Road. This Michaels looks fairly knew compared to my local one in Markham. I parked practically in front of the main doors and walked in. Normally, I get lost in Michaels. I do well finding areas such as jewellery, yarn, and picture frames. I also managed to find the washrooms, which were clean. The best part is that you hit the women's washroom before the men's, which was a nice change. My true test visiting any Michaels store is to find calligraphy pens. I have the worst time finding such a specific, small section. Guess what? I found the section in a heartbeat. It has a decent selection of calligraphy pens with felt nibs that are like markers, pens with nibs that you dip in ink, and pens that you need to refill with ink. I was happy! I had a good time researching what yarns and simple projects I want to learn to do. It's interesting that I am fine with loom and cork knitting, but give me two knitting needles and I need help! We both went searching for my purple fabric dye. We finally found it. As with most Michaels stores, it takes me longer to find what I need. She managed to find a decent mini garden rake that was on sale. I also wanted to look at the calligraphy section, but we couldn't find it! The cashier was cheerful and polite.
