A large family pub with a kids soft play area inside. There is a travel lodge attached but I have never stayed there so can only review the restaurant/br/play area.
I have been taking my son here on and off for the last 4-5 years, and I used to be a big fan - but of late the standards have slipped markedly.
It gets really busy and you cannot prebook which can be difficult.
The food generally speaking is very good and they have alot of specials and offers so as long as you are not really fussy you can get a main and a desert, plus a drink for around £12. It tends to be the usual pub fayre, steaks, chips, burgers, scampi, chicken and wraps, although they have quite good veggie options too.
Service at the bar is quite quick and friendly, and the food is ordered here too, then delivered to the table. The last few times I have been I have found that the tables have not been left with enough cutlery, we had items missed off our order and the condiments were not full sets. The waiting staff seemed uninterested and unapologetic, and in fact down right grumpy.
Still my son loves it there and we end up going back inspite of all this. On the plus side he has had several parties there and the team who organise these are excellent, really making an effort to ensure the kids have a great time. The soft play area makes a welcome place for them to burn off energy anytime and is one of the better areas I have seen being spacious and with a well planned parent viewing area. Also the gated system they have in place makes it very secure, so it does mean you can sit and have a pint without having to watch where they are every two seconds.
'Fradley Arms' is part of the 'wacky warehouse' chain if you are familiar with them. DO NOT come here unless you have wee people in tow - its very noisy and geared specifically to this market. read more
