From the first day when we met, when he picked me up on campus during my welcome weekend visit and drove me to a wide variety of his properties, I was impressed by his care and his desire to make sure I found a place to live where I was really happy. The apartment I rented was exceptionally well-maintained, and I lived there the entire 3 1/2 years I was in Ann Arbor. Every time I called Bob, he answered the phone. And anytime I needed a repair or regular maintenance, his warm and friendly staff (the wonderful Al and Tony), arrived within the hour. Whenever I called Bob, he asked how I was doing, and it took me a while to realize he was really asking and really wanted to know. And once, when I was horribly sick with the flu and I had to be on campus until 10 p.m. and I had a flight at 6 a.m. the next morning and my car was snowed in, I called Bob to tell him of my predicament and ask if he knew anyone I could call for help, and he sent over his crew to shovel me out, just out of kindness. I felt cared for and taken care of by the folks at Arbor Properties. I'll miss them, and I give them my highest recommendation.

I am writing this long overdue review for J Keller Properties. My partner and I have been with J…read moreKeller for almost a year now, and it was one of the best and luckiest decisions we made. We had previously been with another property management company for ~5 years, and we lost A LOT of money while with them. We are very trusting, but over time we couldn't trust them, as they're accounting was horrible. Hey couldn't understand the simplest of requests. They used antiquated systems, and we would get statements 1-2 months late. It was just horrible. We knew it was time to change, and to be honest we didn't think there would be a huge difference between management companies. We interviewed 5 places. One place has been in the business for a long time, but he was too arrogant, and the others were nice but didn't seem to do anything extremely special. We settled on one, not J Keller at first, and then Jon convinced us to just give his company a shot so we switched last minute. We were impressed by his motivation and professionalism. We can only thank Jon tremendously now for convincing us to go with him because for the first time in years we are in the black. He is honest, organized and uses updated technology for accounting. His team is excellent at communication, and we trust them 100%. We were at API t where we couldn't afford the losses we were taking when with the other management company, but we have now decided to keep the properties since with J Keller they are in excellent shape, and we finally have cash flow. You have to be crazy not to go with J Keller, and I say this after being a landlord for over 10 years and having worked in the Ann Arbor real estate business. I know who the other companies are, and J Keller is head and shoulders above them all.

One star is generous…read more Our experience with Linda -- who, oddly enough, is a co-owner of the agency -- was beyond disappointing. We hired her to sell our late mother's home, during an already difficult and emotional time. Initially, she seemed compassionate and competent. But the moment we signed the contract, she vanished. We went weeks without communication. When we finally brought it up, she responded with an offensive and insensitive excuse that I won't repeat here out of basic respect -- something she clearly lacks. Even our late mother was disrespected in the process, both in her words and in her complete lack of empathy. At one point, Linda even confused our property with another client's -- her own buyer's specialist had to step in and correct her. That showed us how little attention or care she gave to our situation. Referring to our mother's belongings as "junk" was another degrading moment we'll never forget. Accessing the property became a struggle because she refused to give us access without a code -- and since she never answers her phone or shows up, that became a nightmare. All of the actual work fell on her buyer's specialist (who, to be clear, was the only professional one in this ordeal). Linda didn't even bother to attend the closing. Excuse after excuse, absence after absence. What hurts the most is that we were grieving and needed someone reliable and respectful. Instead, we were treated like an afterthought while she collected a commission check she barely lifted a finger to earn. If you want to be ignored, disrespected, and treated like a paycheck instead of a person, hire Linda. Otherwise -- for your sanity and dignity -- look elsewhere.

Not to mention, she has a great personality and was fun to work with. It was also nice to know that we were supporting a local business with our home sale. Whether buying or selling in Ann Arbor, I would highly recommend Trillium!

Katie stepped up when my assigned property manager left me out in the cold (literally). Not only did Katie take on someone else's duties, she met with me, gave me facetime, gave me her number and was accessible after hours and helped me find a solution in the interim and she will never understand how much that means because I cannot put it into words. The other property manager that was assigned to me should literally be directed to shadow Katie, and though you cannot teach certain things, I'm sure just a bit of her training will rub off on that manager's ability to meet people where they are. Keep up the great work Katie, Oxford should give you a promotion you need to be in leardership. Oxford seems to have a justified bad rap overall, but I truly appreciate you Katie! - NB

The maintenance team truly care about your happiness and will often follow up on request after complete to ensure you are satisfied. The people that work here make me feel valued and appreciated. After coming from a Singh property where they did not maintain their units or show compassion for their tenants this company is truly refreshing. Every time I've emailed with a repair request, it's been fixed within 1-2 days. CMB is very responsive. Another plus is that FedEx and UPS have keys to the outer apartment door, so even though there's no one around to sign for packages, they will leave them in the lobby or outside your door - very convenient! The building is fairly new and still feels nice. The carpet and furniture is "college friendly" - pretty nondescript, but in Ann Arbor it's hard to expect otherwise. One potential downside is that the rent seems to have been raised quite a bit. I renewed my lease at my initial rental price, but I think they're charging $200-300 more a unit now, which seems a bit overpriced for what they're providing. The tenants are mostly young college kids, so it can get a little rowdy, but I've rarely had trouble with noise. Sometimes on Saturday and Sunday mornings there's evidence of undergrads in the form of trash in the common areas, but it's always cleaned up quickly. Overall, I've really enjoyed my time here. The management is nice and responsive, and you do feel like they care about the building and tenants. And the location is great!

CMB used to be a good company but degraded significantly in recent years. Since they hired Jenny…read moreresponses have been unprofessional, snarky, and just plain rude. The buildings are old and moldy and the rent is high. Maintenance request are not handled in appropriate time frames and Michigan law is regularly ignored. Maintenance staff has even gone through personal belongings and eats resident's food which is extremely disturbing, an invasion of privacy, and leads me to not recommend college aged women live in these units. The heat is turned off before the winter is over which lead to inside temperatures of about 50-60 degrees. Additionally water will be turned off for up to 72 hours without much notice. The trash is also always overflowing as CMB outsources it management to high school students which regularly miss pickups. They are often cited by the city for this issue. Lastly there are only two laundry machines (and one of the two is usually out of service) for buildings of 15 units with multiple residents in each units which leads to confrontations among residents. Despite many emails these issues are not addressed. Overall I would recommend potential residents find another place to live.

We had emergency maintenance issues at one point, and in addition to the company themselves coming to take a look, they would contact third party companies to resolve our issues as fast as possible. I recently secured a different unit for the fall and again, this company has been so accommodating to scheduling conflicts in regards to the showings and has been all around a joy to work with. As someone who's lived in the Ann Arbor area for years, I find it very refreshing to have a rental company that's so easy to work with.
