Just about as bad as it can get! I rented my apartment in Limehouse for two months while I was away via Foxtons to a corporate client. It was trouble from day 1. I had specifically said "No smoking". I was smugly told: "Don't worry madam none of our tenants are allowed to smoke". On the first day my tenant moved in I had to go and collect some stuff and it stank of smoke. They had clearly not told the tenant of the rules.
I was charged a check in and check out fee. Which included lots of detailed photos of my place and details of the contents. Despite considerable damage to two saucepans and awful stains on my hardwood ash floor including photos on the check out form to prove it. The tenant refused to pay and Foxtons told me I should speak to the tenant myself. Apparently any damage is NOTHING to do with them. What exactly do Foxtons think a managed service is?
Eventually after about 30 emails and several calls Foxtons sent "their expert" round to review the damage. Not only did he quote 895 to fix it but he said the floor was laminate.. What sort of an expert was he???? I eventually found a quote for 100 GBP which did not completely fix the problem but made it bearable without having to have part of my floor replaced.
This went on and on and on with the company who rented the place and the tenant refusing to pay and Foxtons saying it was nothing to do with them.. Eventually I threatened to take them to court. Finally they coughed up.
I would never use Foxtons again. Their staff are rude, limited, will say anything including not telling the truth to get the deal. Clearly have no understanding of the service they offer and have no desire to deliver a service past taking your money. read more
