Located in the Melby Hotel in downtown Melbourne. Really good quality coffee. Service can be a little slow.

As a tourist who loves coffee (but not a total connoisseur), Foxtail's espresso flavor is absolutely the bomb.com. I'm spoiled back home with several great roasters and shops but Foxtail is right up there with the best of them! Absolutely loved my iced cinnamon honey latte... so much so that I tried out another location and ordered the cinnamon latte with honey cold foam. HONEY COLD FOAM= made from my dreams! Begging a coffee shop from Cincy to see this and take note! As for this location, it's connected to the Hotel Melby which provides a few more seating options but the shop itself has just a couple tables. Outside has a few nice/shady places to sit and parking on the street or public garage is ample. Will be back again!!

Today was a study day, foxtail coffee looked intriguing and so I went. I choose the outside seating it was a shaded area that felt secluded and quiet. Drink wise I went with a classic cold brew, the coffee tasted fresh and strong. My only complaint would be that the cafe is kinda small.

Indoor Seating

THE GOOD: They have some strong coffee and chai lattes! Good location, always pretty easy to find street parking nearby. Super nice atmosphere, variety of seating options (indoor in the hotel lobby, the long bar tables shown below, and outdoor seating!), relatively quick service, and mostly friendly staff! And FUN FACT: This is currently the only coffee shop in Downtown Melbourne that is open 7 days a week. They also open before 9:00 which is fantastic for those of us needing coffee on our way into the office! THE BAD: Drinks are kind of pricey. I don't mind pricey if it's consistently good but my experiences here have not been. The drinks are super inconsistent, some of the baristas make the drinks wayyyy too sweet. Then other days they're great. But you just never know what you'll get. And when I'm in a rush taking my drink to-go, the risk of it not being right the first time isn't one I can always take. And their food/snacks aren't very good. I've wanted to like them and keep trying different things but, at least from what I've tried, they're small portions and bland and not always heated up consistently. I thought maybe the "quality consistency" thing would get better the longer they were open but it unfortunately still hasn't improved.

Very cool location, they share a lobby with a hotel. Friendly staff. I got an iced latte and a piece of pumpkin bread. Latte was great. Bread was reminiscent of a pumpkin-ey sponge.

Delicious drinks, great service, very lovely place where you can enjoy your time and your coffee.

Lavender Honey Latte

I tried out Foxtail after a Causeway walk with the family. I got my typical black coffee with two espresso shots and my wife tried out a lavender honey latte. Both options were great, and could tell they were fresh. My wife thought her latte was a little rich but I thought it was just right. She didn't hate it, but said she wouldn't have added the honey or gotten something else. There was a nice selection of pastries, nothing that seemed out of the ordinary, but we didn't try those. They did have a cooler where you could purchase a large craft of iced coffee which I thought was pretty cool. What I think was great about this spot was that it would be a perfect "office away from home" with all the people coming in going in DT Melbourne and through the lobby of the Hotel Melby (where it's located). There was a really cool vibe and tons of natural light that made this place stand out, in my opinion. I would definitely suggest this place to others and will going back myself.

Super chill vibes on the inside suitable for lounging & good seating with a nice scenery of the busy downtown traffic on the outside. I got their iced lavender coconut tea which was tasty & refreshing. My friend got the hot caramel cappuccino which she said was good as well. There was one barista at the time we visited , she was fairly sweet but just wish she would've shown a bit more enthusiasm! Great spot overall! Will be returning.

coffee was good, not the best ever but it was definitely good, couldn't really focus on getting work done because it's connected to the hotel melby and is a bit loud at times

Mocha was very good and served in a reasonable amount of time. The location in the hotel lobby of where we were staying was convenient.

Villon Coffee - Merchandise

Villon Coffee

(9 reviews)

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more For me, Historic Downtown Melbourne has become one of my most-visited hubs for socialization, especially in south Brevard County. Thanks to the brilliant people at DTMB or Melbourne Main Street, the area has been improving. I definitely like the new businesses coming in, taking a slice of history in their own sake. Once such place is Villon Coffee. Originally, a "food truck" as the are more of a coffee truck, Villon Coffee (which I will shorthand simply to Villon for the remainder of the review) has expanded to the point they now have two brick-and-mortal locations. The one I like to frequent is, of course, Historic Downtown Melbourne. Now to be fair, they are an a-okay coffee shop, but mostly because of how management runs it more so than the vibe and staff. The vibe and staff: excellent! Definitely have a lot of good things to say about Ally. However, how management (whom I never seen onsite whatsoever) runs the location, is no bueno! Though an address is given, Villon is located on the southside of New Haven Ave. that runs though Historic Downtown Melbourne. If it helps, they are more on the eastside of the town stretch just west of the train tracks. Villon is a smallish location consisting of a main serving room and a "waiting" room that showcases their wares for sale. The waiting room also has an island table and couch, which works well as board games (though most of them are incomplete) are available for guests. The pinball machine, Godzilla, requires 50 cents to play. The main serving floor has bar seating along the storefront window, serving counter, and the side window. As for decor, a lot of yellow, black, and greys in modern art triangles and flowers that highlight their color scheme. Also, the restroom is gender neutral, which is fine as it is a single-person restroom. Usually clean and stocked, but not the best looking restroom. Ever seen a grungy warehouse look in a restroom but was still clean? That's what Villon here has. This is where things are critical. For some reason, management usually has only one person on staff. Now to be fair, most of the day only needs one person, but during rushes, you'll end up waiting. This is not a food truck which is understandable why there is a wait, but an actual brick-and-mortar restaurant. And given its small size and menu, you'd think they would be able to keep rotation on goods up to par. There have been times I came in in which Ally has said they don't have something or another. This goes for their food which I am unsure is either premade or storebought. Needless to say, they don't have the space to cook anything from scratch, so everything is "heat and ready to serve." There is a couple of coolers with bagels, and oatmeal bites ready to eat, though. But the food that really stands out is the wares made by Chef & Summers. They are delicious, but sometimes, they can be sold out. Villon is also quite innovative in their drinks, more so than any other coffee shop I can think of locally. Ergo, they get the hit-or-miss judgment a tad bit more, but because they are being bold more so than being either good or bad. Overall, Villon, as mentioned earlier, is an a-okay place. The staff does the best they can with what they have and what they are given. But I guarantee you they'd be better with more management support. Since I have visited this place numerous times prior to my initial review, I can definitely give Villon a solid three out of five stars with the aforementioned points above. If management helps improve this location, then maybe, just maybe, I will give them a fair shake and update my review. Until then, good place to stop by if you are in the area and you just need a stop to go to, but definitely better coffee shop options out there. My suggestion: The Sun Shoppe at the west end of Historic Downtown Melbourne or Apocalpyse Coffee Roasters heading north on Babcock St. right at the intersection with US-1.

I know I know matcha tastes like you slid into outfield and ate grass but hear me out. It actually isn't so bad I topped it with vanilla foam and although it made it less healthier it's way better than a wheat grass shot! Pricing is reasonable and they have these muffins that was pretty much the same price as my drink but they are big enough to share. Service was quick and the staff friendly. Since you didn't get your Starbucks bear cup protest by going here instead: you won't be disappointed! J/k Oh, I forgot to mention my friend grabbed this cute shirt for me because I packed all long sleeves for my trip and it was hot. Leave it to me to pack for a cold freeze and then fly home the day before it happened! Anyways, if you're in the area or just passing through make a stop here.

**UPDATED REVIEW**…read more The last time I reviewed The 905 Cafe (which I will shorthand simply to 905) was early in my Yelping career. I don't even remember if I earned RED yet, but I surely enjoyed being honest about where I partook my patronage to. 905 received my highest rating for an initial review for a local business, and unless you know, that is always going to be four out of five stars because my fifth star is always earned for consistency as in "consistently being good/great/amazing!" I will stress that I haven't been back to 905 as much as I'd like simply because of work, but now that I have finally made many returns, I can happily say that after eight years (which is way too long if you ask me), I finally made enough visits to write that 905 is consistent and thus have earned their fifth star in which they are one of the few - after I have organized my reviewing style and detail - to be a perfect score local business. In general, all the details I described in my previous review are still effect, but there are some changes that need to be noted. Firstly, 905 is no longer located at 905. It is across the street at 908. They moved back in 2020 during the pandemic. Secondly, there are now more wares inside from local creators, and even a small book and media purchase area. Finally, I must stress how amazing the soups are. Take note that like any other place that makes one pot for the day and finishes that pot in said day, depending on the time you go and how much soup is left, you might get a "flavor bomb" at times. For example, if I show up just an hour or two before closing, my soup will be loaded with flavor because flavor settles over time, even if you mix the soup every so often. That's just the truth. Finally, the ambiance still has the feel of going to grandma's house, but a bit more modernization, too. Nothing too bad but it should be noted. And I don't think I said this last time, but the restroom is gender neutral and very clean. Only place in the entire restaurant where profanity is shown and I don't mean graffiti on the walls because they don't have that. You'll see if you go. Ultimately, they deserve their five-out-of-five stars and it has been a pleasure eating there. I always go back for their soups so I will definitely be around.

As cozy, kitschy, and warm as though you stepped into a midwestern grandma's kitchen :3 Very cute…read more Though the coffee leaves a bit to be desired, I can appreciate the charm of this quaint little cafe, and the friendly service makes up for the mediocre brew. COCONUT ICED TEA: Like a sweet tea, but with a light coconut flavor (made with coconut water maybe)? Simple & refreshing. My bf's 905 Signature was... Sugary! Very sweet. Other drinks we ordered met the same fate... Maybe better if you're a bigger sweet tooth.

Service was kind and very helpful and let us customize our drinks to our liking. **INITIAL REVIEW** I…read morefind it amazing that over the past five to ten years, coffee microbreweries have suddenly boomed in popularity. Though I can mention plenty of such businesses that fit the criteria of such success, the one in Florida that I have a lot of love for is Foxtail Coffee. Foxtail Coffee (which I will shorthand simply to Foxtail) is only eight years old. Founded in 2016 in Winter Park, FL, Foxtail has grown to have over 50 locations in Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Virginia, and Georgia, with the majority of branches in the Sunshine State (Florida). The one I went to was located in Melbourne, FL, on Babcock St. Though an address is given, it is best to say this Foxtail is next door neighbors to the original location of another Florida coffee microbrewery (which is of course local to Melbourne, FL since I stated it was the "original location"), Apocalypse Coffee Roasters. Foxtail's business locale is kind of small-ish, but cute in a cozy kind of way. The northside of the building has a covered patio decored with Christmas lights. Numerous outdoor tables and chairs are available for outdoor seating. The southside of the building has a beautiful mural painted on its wall. You definitely know it panders to Foxtail as it surely shows off its logo and stylistic use of rainforest greenery. If you think the outside looked cozy, go inside and you'll notice how tight of a space the place is. The two female workers in the bar area were really kind, and I enjoyed a coffee and a chocolate muffin. Overall, it was a good experience, but nothing that stood out compared to going to another coffee house. I cannot simply highlight the coffee alone as I have had Foxtail on its own before. I got myself a bag awhile ago, ground the beans myself in my grinder, and enjoyed a cup. And to be fair, anyone who makes their own cup of coffee should know how to make it the best for themselves, right? Ergo, my initial visit to this Foxtail, I will give it an a-okay rating of three out of four stars. It was definitely good, but it also has that "corporate chain" feel that places like Starbucks also has. If this Foxtail stays consistent, however, I will make sure to give them their fourth star. Until then, a good place to go, but if I could, I would defiitely opt for something considered more local to support small businesses in the area... especially Apocalypse Coffee Roasters right across the street.
