This park is located in downtown De Pere, and consists of paved walking/strolling trails that wind around the Fox River. The riverwalk extends to a pier, where you can look out onto the river and see lots of birds, including pelicans. The pelicans seemed to like hanging out by the rushing dam -- they were catching fish in the river. Humans were catching fish too. There were several people fishing, and one person that I saw caught a huge fish. There's a sign on the pier that tells you what kind of fish live in the river: walleye, sturgeon, carp, perch and others. Apparently, you can kayak in the Fox River, and there's a lock here that takes you down the dam. I didn't get to experience that, but supposedly it's a very cool thing to do here.

The lighthouse hole is the hole from hell. If you overshoot the net, your frisbee could easily end up in the lake. I have fond memories of this park from when I was a kid. We used to go to the south end of the park and shoot our 22 rifles. But this is a different age, don't try to do that these days. Silver Creek has the best beaches in Manitowoc. It has areas that are wild enough to do some serious birding. I find it a bit amusing that people have stopped playing disc golf. They are now obsessed with Pokemon Go, so the park is very quiet these days. But today I picked up a bag of trash. Apparently "Swinus Americanus" (my name for litter bugs) are still present there. Red Bull cans, and broken bottles on the beach. It always mystifies me why "people" trash out places of beauty; and what kind of knuckledragger breaks glass on a beach? All that aside, this is a premier park. It is a wonderful place to spend a few peaceful hours. It is surprisingly unused, or, at least, underused. Take a picnic, lay out on the beach and, if you're brave enough, swim in the lake (brrr!). Did I mention that I saw a hooded merganser today where Silver Creek meets Lake Michigan...nice.

There were a lot of trout in the pond. There is no catch and release in either of the ponds. Probably we dont even need a fishing road. Just putting a small net is enough to catch the fish. I caught 3. The store lady was nice. She cleaned it well. I just had to take home put some spice and bake/fry it. Fish tasted real good. In fact I saw others stopping by and just catching 1 fish per head and leaving. I guess they are just trying to make a tasty dinner. It was a really fun experience.

They clean and gut all of your catches for $5 which is nice. You get long sticks with string attached and are given corn kennels for bait. We each caught a fish within 30 sec to a min and were only there for like 15 minutes lol. But it was fun! We cooked it the next day- tasted fresh!
