We have two cats and one dog, and all three were adopted from here. The place is clean, well lit, and big. I cannot speak for the animals themselves, but I probably feel like they are comfortable here while they are staying there. Their adoption prices are fair, and they always make sure that you know that you have a free donated vet visit within a certain amount of time after adopting an animal. The staff is always very courteous, knowledgeable, and makes sure that you understand everything. They really do have the animals' best interest at heart. I have seen so much love and patience come from these people. I am always impressed. A few times before we adopted our dog, which was our most recent adoption, we came in as a family to look and browse. Even after telling them very specifically that we would not be adopting that day and were "only looking", they were still so very courteous and kind and made sure that we had any and all questions answered. It was about maybe a whole year and a couple of visits later before we actually adopted. They treated us with respect each and every time. I have no doubt that they treat the animals with love and respect, as well. I liked my experiences so much here, that I actually recommended that my niece (who lives in Green Bay) adopt a dog from here. She just did last week! read more

This place may be good at adopting animals out, but when you surrender your dog not so good. We surrendered ours they said they would try to rehabilitate him. He was not aggressive, he was scared, alone, in a place where there was more noise then he's ever heard, so he was quite intimidated, by everything. What dog wouldn't be? He was very protective and with just a little bit of help, and room to run after being adopted out. After a week I called to see how he was, and was told he was no longer with them, they put him down. It takes more then one week to rehabilitate any animal, but they didn't give him the chance to settle down, get use to the employees, and noise of all the other dogs. If giving any animal a chance it takes patience and time. He never got that! He never got the chance to show them what a great dog he really was. For a no kill shelter they sure do jump on the killing band wagon really fast. I would advise never to take your pet to the Fox Valley Humane Society. We only wanted the best for our dog, what we couldn't give him at the time, and they didn't give him a chance. I don't know if the employees are lazy or if they just don't care! read more

We have been searching for a dog for months now, we were waiting for the right one for our family. I had filled out an application and it's been in their files. When a dog comes in with a description of what we are searching for, one of the staff members, who I've gotten really close to, shoots me a message to let me know! They don't hesitate to let me come see the pups one on one. They are a very clean, respectful shelter. All of the workers put their whole heart and soul into those pets and make sure they find the right homes. I've never seen such dedication at any shelter I've been to. I'm proud to adopt a pet from them, I'm proud to support them, and I'm proud to help any chance I can. The amazing staff is what makes this place as great as it is! Our young cat when missing this week and was turned into the humane society by a wonderful neighbors but it took us 4 days to get our cat back. I called the humane society daily and filled out the missing pet form (with picture) on the first day, but every time I spoke with someone on the phone they said they had no cat of that description. We finally just went there today to check be because a neighbor responded to our filers saying they turned him in. The humane society was still telling us they didn't have him but we showed up and had one very helpful volunteer bring us right to him ( our one positive experience). We still had to pay for the room and board they provided! Thank goodness we got our cat back but very unhappy with the shelter! read more

POTENTIAL ADOPTERS BEWARE!!!!!!!!! Fox Valley Humane Association is INFESTED with PARASITES!!! I adopted a pup that had been diagnosed and treated for Coccidia  two weeks before I rescued her. According to the paperwork, she was not the only one infested. Dogs get this parasite from having contact with an infected dog's feces.. Then, after bringing her home and noticing multiple bald patches emerging over the weeks, I bring her to my vet only to find out she's also infested with demodex MITES. Again, she was not the only one. A friend's colleague from work adopted a pup from the same location and around the same time I did, her pup is also losing it's fur and was diagnosed with demodex.. Fox Valley Humane Association is extremely unsanitary and is haphazardly putting the animals at risk for infestations. Clearly, their vets are not performing adequate examinations of the animals before sending them out to potential adopters. Personally, I find this very upsetting due to the fact that a thorough examination isn't being given when it's supposedly included in the (circumstantially) outrageous adoption fee. I would give NO stars if possible! I will never be returning to this terrible, disgusting shelter and certainly would not recommend this hell to anyone because you will be having to treat your pet for parasites if you adopt from Fox Valley Humane Association. read more
