As this is a new restaurant there is a promotional period and we are fortunate to tap into it. Nevertheless the waitress and the owner are happy to treat us to their best. This is not just the food but the service and the little touches that encourage people to come back. The starters is quite large, share between two or even more. The main meals are huge and we had to ask for a doggy bag as they were so good and we couldn't just leave them. We had coffee at the end of the meal...ok it was lunchtime...a glass of wine or a Mexican beer would have been nice...but we were driving and the weather was terrible. Let's be safe this time! There will be another time..especially as this little gem is open of a night. Well, out came our coffees and so did two chocolate churros! Wow! Complimentary. So yummy!!! Their basic croissants are some of the best of the city, and definitely one of the very rare "real French croissants" you can get this far from the super trendy suburbs of Sydney. Their other pastries keep changing and it feels like the variety increases every time I go have a look. Raspberry danishes, almond-chocolate croissants, rhubarb and strawberry foldeovers and much more. They also do sandwiches, quiches and I've seen meat pies too, so even those without a sweet tooth will find something good to eat. And coffee - it's good to finally have another decent brand of coffee in the neighbourhood, and I've always been happy with my lattes.

I don't normally comment on the smell of the meal but the French Onion Soup was absolutely captivating. Once this meal grabbed your attention you couldn't deprive yourself. The restaurant and its surrounds were dainty and relaxing, and with outdoor seating you're given the opportunity to really soak in the peace. Noise level is a minimal. Would love to come back here to try one (or several) of their pastries and a coffee.

On our arrival we were warmly welcomed and quickly attended to. We sat inside where it was warm, dry (raining out), and it smelt absolutely lovely. We were soon served Pumpkin soup with creme fresh and pancetta, which as full of flavour and great first course starter. This was followed by their duck foie gras that was very generous in size and looked and tasted amazing. Third course to follow was seared scallops on a bed of cauliflower puree. This was the dish of the night! It was plate-licking-worthy! Cooked to perfection. Next course, 4th on the list, was duck breast. Perfectly cooked, succulent and flavoursome. Lastly was the dessert and this was the only let down, primarily because it was a cold dish. Given the season is winter, it would have been nice to have a warm dessert. This could have been easily achieved had they heated through the bread and butter pudding and heated the creme anglaise. The dessert itself was large and tasted nice, but it just wasn't the perfect end to the four courses ahead of it. We ordered a lovely French bottle of wine and on settling the bill was served really lovely handmade petite fours - little chocolate and pistachio bites. Very nice. The wait staff were all lovely, attentive and French natives. In all, we thoroughly enjoy our dinner here and look forward to returning.

Large. What a treat. The blend was quite well roasted for a full bodied blend with a slight bitterness. Loved it. I saw another patron eating a veggie delight salad. So I ordered it. Wow! The aubergine was cooked to perfection. There was the perfect amount of feta in the salad as well. Absolutely loved it. As a regular consumer of meat, this was a very well made salad which really hit the spot. The ambience in the cafe was a relaxed vibe all about great food and great company. Lots of people, lots of conversations. But it wasn't overly loud either. And every time another dish was being delivered I another patron, I had to stop myself from ordering the same. If you love food, you'll love Cav & Co. In the end, we arrived at Cav on a recommendation. Bloody marvellous and well worth the drive.

We fronted up on a hot Saturday at the beginning of March. There a small area for fresh fruit & veg, but the jewel is the imported groceries. Squid ink, rice from Spain for paella, gelatine leaves, Easter cake with pistachios and custard inside . . . the joys go on & on. A small butchery, and a large deli. Heaven. We bought some pre made panini from the deli area to have with coffee from the cafe & bakery. Yum!!! We perched at shared benches to enjoy as we chatted to other customers seated opposite. This time we opted for the couches and made friends with a nearby diners French bulldog. It's certainly a dog friendly spot. You can also sit inside if the weather isn't suitable with beautiful styling, nautically themed with blue striped cushions, decorative ropes and anchors. We loved this place last time, so we were keen to try their new menu. The menu has a more varied amount of choices at brunch. There's sweets, salads and some regular and ever popular choices. The mozzarella with avo, perfectly place on sourdough with greens and pomegranates, heirloom tomatoes and and a soft poached egg was beautiful. The roast pumpkin salad with grains, Persian feta, heirloom salad, avocado, confit onion, Pepita dukkah and herbs is the kind of dish I'd enjoy every day. Super healthy and refreshing and the pumpkin was perfectly cooked. For a sweet finish, we really liked the poached pear on brioche, toast with salted caramel, passionfruit cream, candied pistachio and lemon zest. We imagine this will be a very popular menu item.
