They presented incorrect numbers three times and each time I had to point out to them their mistakes. They never acknowledged their errors and treated us like we were idiots. The mistakes were even in our favor as the closing statements they prepared had us bringing in substantially less money than we owed. They should have thanked us but just gave me attitude each of three times. Next they charged me twice for something (not a small amount, but about $400). In attempting to get a refund after closing, they again treated me rudely and even hung up on me. It took calling my agent to finally solve the problem and get the refund that was very clearly due. Now, jump forward just over a year. While trying to list the property for sale we found out they NEVER completed their most basic function of transferring the title. This is potentially causing us financial harm since the property cannot be sold until thy correct their mistake of neglecting to transfer title. I suggest you direct any agent you are using to stay away from this escrow company.

Stuart got us on site the day the property went on the market we put in an offer a few days later and purchased an 80 acre homestead with 3 homes and a barn at 1980 prices. In February Stuart facilitated our purchase of a classic home built in 1926 with a river rock fireplace, lots of redwood and a mother in law unit for our daughter right on the Eel river. Everyone said there was "nothing nice available around Garberville". But Stuart was aware of a sale that was about to fall through. We had tickets to winter in Central America and left with our offer accepted and a loan lined up. Stuart arranged for the closing to go through while we were away. The credit union required a pest report which consequently required a great deal of work on the house. Stuart worked closely with the pest inspector and the carpenters to have the work done in a timely and professional manor and speed the closing. He was on top of it all on a day to day basis with the credit union and the title company too. You will not find a more knowledgeable, hardworking, or more service-full broker in Southern Humboldt than Stuart Shayne and his partner Susan Gratzel.

But when I sold my house this summer they had a new escrow officer and it was a very different experience They told me my house had closed escrow so I left my home and checked into a motel. I was not, however, paid. They said I would be paid the next day and that morning confirmed on the phone that I was paid and my money had been wired into my account. After spending some time at my bank I was told that no money was being wired to my account at all. I went in to the business and was finally told that my money was not yet wired to me and that my mortgage had not been paid off yet. They lied to me. The manager tried to tell me that sometimes it takes a few days to get paid. So why was I told escrow closed if I am not paid and I still have a mortgage on the house in my name? I have previously bought and sold eight houses and I have never been treated this way or had problems with being paid. I wouldn't trust this place with my money ever again. Find another escrow company and stay clear of this business. They really do not care and treated me like trash.
