I was pleasantly surprised! It must be at least 20 years…read moresince I stayed at a Fairfield Inn. My memories of rooms that you enter from the street have been shattered. This hotel was fairly new with a great lobby and friendly staff. It's far enough away from the interstate to assure quiet. It could easily pass for a newer Courtyard. Large rooms and large restrooms. Time for me to reconsider the brand.

I come to Elkhart on business. I have a number of customers in the area so I spend a few days. This…read moretime the Courtyard across the parking lot was full and a bit pricey. That's is my go to. But I couldn't go to. This had good reviews on the Bonvoy Marriott app. So I booked it. First impression on the room is it's older. Not bad but definitely older. The room is a 2 queen room. I like the extra bed to put stuff on. And it's bigger. Bathroom is older too. First issue was the toilet seat was loose. Really loose. Called the front desk and in the middle of the call the phone cord on the nightstand phone separated and I couldn't continue to talk. So I put the phone back together and called again. About 4 mins later Caleb came up. He saw the toilet and needed a screw driver to fix. He came back about 15 mins later and fixed the toilet seat. Also the shower head is wonky but I didn't notice that till I took a shower. So clearly maintenance needs to be done. And lastly under the fridge the wood is destroyed. Not sure what that is but I am not opening up the fridge. Otherwise it's a typical Fairfield, LOl! It's clean for the most part. Staff is fine. It's fine for a few nights. Next time I'm going back to the courtyard.

Mercy, I don't know where to even begin... I called ahead and told the lady ( who is a supervisor)…read moreAngela that we are late arrivals and won't be there til early morning. We drove 17 hours to get here. We arrived in the middle of the morning to find out that she didn't put the notes about our late arrival in the system so they canceled the reservation without even contacting us..... We had to go in after a long drive and redo the reservation. This place is outrageous with zero amenities! We got food poisoning from the unseasoned breakfast. I asked for a side of biscuits and gravy and it was so hard with burnt gravy. When I told the server she mentioned that she knew it was like that and took it off our bill. They want $17.00 for the breakfast buffet and $7.00 for latte...I have never been to a hotel that doesn't have free juice and coffee with breakfast! Don't bother with the bland over priced dinners! The rooms do not have microwaves either. The quality for price just isn't there ! Especially for a Hilton hotel at $200.00 a night as Diamond members! That doesn't include the $15.00 extra a night for the parking. The rooms are dimly lit unless it's a sunny day and you completely open the window blinds. The double queen rooms have a weird layout and uncomfortable beds. The only good thing was our rooms were clean. If you are going to spend this much on a hotel then go somewhere that you can at least get a comfortable night of sleep. Last but not least, We kept getting stuck in the elevator! The doors close and you have to hit for floor number over and over to try and get it to actually go to the floor! That doesn't seem safe at all and they need to have that fixed before someone gets hurt! I definitely recommend staying somewhere else. **The ONLY reason I changed this to a 3 star is because of Ocean at the Elkhart Hotel's Corner Bar! Ocean made the last night of my horrible trip into a night of good laughs and even better drinks! Ocean is a top tier mixologist that makes these stunning and delicious drinks based on her costumer's preferences! From the fresh Brazilian Mojito to the relaxing Butterfly Lemonade, she is THE BEST in the industry! Ocean has this personality that makes you comfortable and want to stay until closing. They do have another bartender Chris who reminded me of a golden retriever haha. He was hyper, had the zoomies, and made insanely strong drinks! Kerri was sweet and has great customer service. Ocean was the saving grace of this establishment!**

The staff was…read morefriendly and helpful from the time I checked in and they always have curtesy waters available. Our room was spacious and clean and the beds was fresh and clean and warm. The shower was nice and hot with great pressure and fresh towels and quality soaps. The fitness center was loaded with all dumbell sizes, a bench, cable machine, treadmill and bike. The free breakfast was delicious I had a cheese omelet with sausage, coffee and juice but the spread was huge with oatmeal, bagels, juices, waffles and cereal. The parking lot was large and well lit and there was pleanty of shopping and fast food near by.

I spoke with the night time front desk clerk who said the semi was not on their property even though a side door and sidewalk lead directly to the parking lot with striped parking spots. I suspect the semi driver had been confronted many times before and was parked in the striped parking lot In retaliation. There was a huge empty lot behind the hotel and another semi was there parked at least 500' away-not a problem. The night desk clerk raised his voice to me saying there was nothing he could do. Definitely make another choice of hotels when in Elkhart, there are plenty.

You get what you pay for. Repeat that to yourself if you choose to book this location. Yes, it's…read morecheap, but there's a reason for it. The check in process was more difficult than expected, considering the room was booked online and already paid for. Of course, they wanted a credit card for "incidentals" as though there were a mini-bar or in case I decided to make any long distance calls on their phone rather than use my cell phone. Regardless, it's policy, so I get it. You never know who is going to try to walk off with the worn bedding. Ok, so where do we begin? The second floor hallway is NOT climate controlled, so it was hot and muggy, and smelled like wet dog mixed with last week's stale weed smoke. It's also dark and aged, with flaking paint and plaster. I can't even venture a guess the last time the carpet was cleaned or shampooed. While preparing to settle in, I took my shoes off and walked around in socks, which ended up getting dirty from whatever had built up on the carpet in my room. The bathroom is dimly lit, I'm guessing the vanity sports a single 25-watt bulb to shave by, and that's the ONLY light in the bathroom. Shower temperature was good, but the pressure was dismal. My hair is only 2" long, and the pressure had a hard time washing the shampoo out of it. Towels were old, stained and ratty. The only "large" one covers either part of my front or part of my back. It's not big enough to get both at the same time. One washcloth had black stains on it and the other one was see-through thin. The toilet wobbled and lurched much like a mechanical bull when used. If I had a tool kit, I would have tightened the bolts and put a bead of caulk around the base to stiffen the ride, but I don't have them with me. Sorry. When I showered, I closed the bathroom door to prevent the possibility of steam setting off the smoke alarm (conveniently placed right outside the bathroom door for some reason) and found a soiled pair of women's panties hanging from the doorknob. (after the shower, I subsequently pinched a corner to lift them and brought them to the front desk. The clerk merely grinned and took possession of them. I hope they fit him). There IS a mini-fridge with freezer. I did them a favor by unplugging it so I could defrost the 2" layer of ice in it, while affording myself some quiet to sleep. The air conditioner is an old window unit that provides plenty of white noise to mask the ruckus outside the hotel, especially after the other tenants have had a few beers, but still isn't enough to mask the slamming doors and arguing from the hallway that continues well into the night. Breakfast is a choice between a bagel, cold cereal, a mini-muffin or a container of Activa yogurt. Thankfully, there's a McDonald's up the road. Just keep repeating "You get what you pay for" or spend a few extra bucks for a better quality chain hotel.

I've stayed here before numerous times over the years. I should've listened to my husband when he…read morevowed he'd never return after his truck was stolen from the parking lot several years ago. In a nutshell, vehicle broke down, stayed 3 nights while truck was in the shop, woke up at 2:30am on my 3rd night to find bed bugs crawling on sheet & pillows! I put them in a cup & brought them to the Front Desk. I asked agent to come to the room to see for himself but he refused to even go check out the room. He brought me keys for a room just 2 doors down. I asked for something further away but said there wasn't anything. He then proceeded to ask if I'd quietly move all of my stuff & my dog to the new room to avoided disturbing anyone else! There wasn't going to be any sleeping now for me! I sat in a desk chair with every light on! I was too traumatized to get into bed, turn the lights off & go to sleep. Went to F/D to ask when GM would be in. Once I was told he was there, I asked to speak to him. GM, who I believe is the owner, came out with an aggressive, unapologetic approach, smirking how "coincidental" it was that I found "so called" bed bugs on my last night there. I just wanted to know what they would be doing for me & advised him that I needed to wash EVERY SINGLE ITEM OF CLOTHING! He dismissed me, said I needed to be patient & that he was just too busy to go inspect the room himself. He also said that not going back to sleep was my own fault. Approximately 1.5 hours later, GM sent a staff member to my door to ask that I go to the F/D to see him. He then stated that he'd made it to the room & saw bed bugs crawling on the pillows but "they were tiny"! He gave just enough quarters for me to wash all of my belongings. While I did that, I walked next door to Menards to purchase bed bug spray so that I could treat all of my bags before repacking my newly washed laundry. Upon checkout @ 11am, breakfast attendant/Front Desk agent printed me a receipt that did not reflect any type of rate adjustment for the bed bug incident. She told me to call back later as the GM was off property. I refused to leave until she contacted him via cell phone. She put him on speakerphone where I asked why I was being charged. He stated that I wouldn't be compensated because they took "care of me" when they changed my room! WHAT?! As an innkeeper, you are required to provide clean, hygienic accommodations. They weren't doing me a favor but simply what was required. I also presented a receipt for $11.22 for the bed bug spray I needed to purchase to treat my luggage. He argued with me for nearly 25 minutes, refusing any adjustment, refused to reimburse me for the spray & said he would take of me when I returned in the future. I quickly advised I would never return & wanted satisfaction now. Finally, he decided to reimburse me for one night with no reimbursement for bed bug spray. I advised I'd already called Wyndham Corporate re: this situation. His response: good for you! I have a discounted driver rate that comes to $56! He could've easily had me leave quickly & quietly had he just adjusted one night & paid for the spray. Instead, he was defensive & rude and will now deal with both Corporate & the Health Department as a complaint is being filed. Side note: before becoming a commercial driver, I managed hotels for 20 years. When I'd advised him of such & what protocol was for rooms with bed bugs, he said he really didn't care or need to know what I did in the past. I did not see pest control show up before I departed. Rooms on either side were not put out of order as they are supposed to be. So I doubt the room above was either. And housekeeper was seen cleaning the room between my original and the one I'd been relocated to. So, who knows if they'll even treat that room and the surrounding ones for bed bugs accordingly.

A -5 rating is what they deserve. Nasty. Disgusting…read more Health Hazard. This hotel was not clean. But very expensive for nothing. I was so disappointe. I take my own big spray and Lysol to every hotel. this one needed it for the mosquitos.
