Dr Ray are pleasant and helpful. Dr Ray's provision for my need of a cap on a cracked lower molar was done well.

"Range"of cost for root canal suggested by Dr prior to surgery was around $1200. Find it hard to believe that since the base cost of the root canal was $1644, the Dr didn't know this was a low estimate . Imagine my surprise on check out after what I can only describe as a friendly but painful procedure for the final bill to be $2450. Would never have done it had I had any idea. My fault for not being more pointed in questioning. LAST ROOT CANAL EVER! Add to the RC a new crown at $1200 plus and the economics suggest pull the tooth or get an implant which has lower risk of future problems.

The Christian persona and mission work he does apparently don't extend to his practice. Last year, I had a crown that fell off and my dentist recommended that I see Dr. Campbell to make sure there wasn't a problem with the root canal that Dr. Campbell had performed prior to the crown being put on. I was in a lot of pain, but when I contacted his office, I was told he was going out of town on a mission trip and they would not let me see the other doctor in the practice because I had originally seen Dr. Campbell. So I had to wait 24 days to see him, in pain the entire time. When I finally got in, they took x-rays (and refused to request the existing x-rays from my dentist). They then performed a CT before I even saw the doctor, but when I questioned this, I was brushed off and just told that the doctor would go over everything with me. When I finally saw Dr. Campbell, he looked at the x-rays only and told me that everything looked great. I specifically asked if he could tell everything from the x-ray and was told yes. When I asked why the CT was performed, he only then looked at it and just said again that everything was great. He then walked me to the front office, handed off my chart and left. It was then that I was informed that I owed $150 for the CT because insurance never covers them. I said that is not acceptable at all for several reasons. The first is I hadn't even seen the doctor and he hadn't looked at any x-rays to see if a CT was even warranted. Secondly, I should have been told that the office would like to do a CT scan, but that insurance wouldn't cover it, and asked if I would be okay with that. The fact that it was just done and I was told after the fact that it wasn't covered and hit with a large bill is very deceptive and even unethical. At this time, I asked to speak with Dr. Campbell to let him know that I couldn't believe that I was being charged and expressed that things should have been done differently. His response was that it was needed for diagnostic purposes. I replied and said at first you didn't even pull up the CT until I asked about it and had already told me that you could see everything from the x-rays. He said that is just the way our office does things. However, their own website says of the CT scan, "Dental Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CT) is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient." Since the x-ray had not even been reviewed, they could not have known that they would be insufficient (when by Dr. Campbell's own words, they were sufficient), thus the CT scan should not have been performed. A few days later, I wrote Dr. Campbell a letter, expressing my disappointment in the way the entire thing was handled and his response was "Roger that, sorry to lose you as a patient. My standards are my standards which are very high apparently compared to your value in my expertise and your dental health." There are lots of good endodontists in the Houston area - find one that doesn't perform procedures that he knows will not be covered and are of questionable necessity without even bothering to talk to you about the financial impact of his practices on you. We all know that performing the CT did not cost him anywhere close to $150, but keeping that profit was more important to him than his patient.

To my surprise, even the Novocain shots didn't hurt. The staff, including receptionists and surgical assistants, were all polite and professional. Doctor Chheda was very patient and explanatory throughout. I think for me, the really nice part was Doctor Chheda calling me (on a Sunday) just to check up on me and make sure I was still doing fine. I definitely recommend this practice to anyone needing endodontic services. This was a great experience -- start to finish. Priscilla J.

Sure, I have raced Ironman, fought MMA, and routinely bit into Geno's Pizza Rolls straight outta the microwave without letting them cool off. I'm a self-proclaimed beast of a man. But this was different. This was a dreaded ROOT CANAL. The big bopper of dental pain. Drills. Drills galore - all medieval shapes and sizes. More drilling than West Texas and the Middle East combined. There were no puppy dogs & rainbows here folks. This was to be 2-3 hours of clutching the armrests and hoping I didn't scream like a little girl. Am I painting you a pretty picture here? Enter Dr. Roh. OK she seems nice. I scanned her CV - she trained at Columbia. Ivy League - that's impressive. Like Good Will Hunting impressive, right? Anyone's mom would agree that's a fantastic school. Well, I'll be honest between her expertise and the copious amounts of nitrous oxide, the entire procedure was a breeze. 2-3 hours of listening to Enya and this cowboy was drifting off daydreaming and doing interpretive dance in my head. Blissful. I didn't feel a thing. Yes, Dr. Roh has the hands of an angel. Would I recommend root canals? No. Absolutely not. BUT considering I dealt with constant pain and infections for 5 years, and this divine deity of dental Endodontics was able to cure me in a single sitting is miraculous. Call the Vatican. It's a miracle. Dr. Roh is THAT good. Kudos to the entire team at South Austin Microendodontics - y'all are simply amazing.

The staff here are extremely professional and the assistants are very gentle and warm, which really help put my mind at ease (or as at ease as possible while you are anticipating certain doom). Dr. Mendez was very knowledgeable, confident and explained everything very clearly and reassured me that the root canal procedure would be painless. And that it was. They were very good about numbing me up and asked how I felt all along the way. What also helped was getting to watch Netflix with headphones on which helped drown out the drilling noise a bit, but also took my mind off what was happening. I waited for about half an hour to get inside, did the cone beam CT scan and get back to get numb. The procedure itself probably took about an hour after I numbing set in. Once Dr. Mendez was done, I think she was off to the next. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to talk as I was still laying there with the things keeping my mouth open. She did mention everything looked good and when she said it was done I felt a huge sigh of relief. Then the other staff member helped with a final x-ray, cleaning up and getting my temporary crown back on. She was great and also explained post-procedure items. All in all, I was extremely impressed and glad I came here. Here's to hoping I never have to come back!
