We stayed at one of these cabins over a short weekend. We were only going to stay one night …read more.. but, we absolutely LOVED IT!!! And drove back to the cabins instead of staying the next night in Austin. This place is heavenly. To begin with, it is a gorgeous setting ~ quiet, calming, lovely views from the porch. Next, the interior is BEAUTIFULLY decorated and appointed ~ nothing left to chance from the dishes to the wifi & TV. These cabins are elegant, more high end than some expensive hotels. And, yet, they are rustic ~ fantastic reconditioned barn wood ceilings, gorgeous stone bathrooms (with shower large enough for two;), giant full cabin length deck. I felt very pampered by the comfy king bed (super delicious sheets!) and the outdoor jacuzzi (easy to use). Another plus is that the owners are great. Easy to deal with and so willing to help. We LOVED our stay and are looking forward to staying again. If you get the chance, stay at Stony Ridge. You will be enchanted too!!!

We just returned from staying at the ruby cabin for 6 days with our 8 year old son. The cabin is…read morebeautifully decorated with amazing views. I loved the covered porch with surround sound and the hottub. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were super soft. I also loved the shades that you simply pull down to cover all the windows at night. It really was peaceful and just the getaway we needed from the city. However, for the price I expected much more because I have never paid this much for a cabin that didn't include everything we needed for our stay. It also could have been a little cleaner for my liking when we arrived. First, they only provided 3 dinner plates, 4 small plates and 4 bowls along with 4 forks, 4 knives and 4 spoons. This would be OK if there were two of us and we were only staying one night, but they knew there were 3 of us and we were staying 5 nights. If you allow that many people for that amount of time, then you should provide enough of everything they will need during their stay. I mean who doesn't at least have an 8 piece setting? Also, while there are pots and pans, they are the cheap metal kind that everything sticks to, so basically useless. And don't count on using the oven because they only provide 1 glass 9x14 pan, so bring your own pans if you want more than a casserole or microwave dinners. There is the grill but its small. Also, the seating in the living room is not very comfortable and really only accommodates two. There is the patio, but again there is only setting for two. And it does get chilly on the patio in the evenings and unfortunately only 1 throw blanket was provided. We had to drive 40 minutes away to the nearest Walmart to get all these basic items that weren't included and that was frustrating. I would have simply brought my own items if I had known. If you are looking to only stay one or two nights with your significant other and you don't plan on making your own meals, then this place is great, but for a family who likes to cook who prefers comfort over looks, then I would look elsewhere. For that reason, I am only giving 4 stars.

On the Buffalo Bend property there are two cabins and the owner's house. The El Sol and the La…read moreLuna are about 75 yards apart. Both cabins have identical interiors and exteriors. However, there are two distinctive differences in the cabins. The El Sol cabin is the second cabin on the road and is a little more secluded. The La Luna has a better view. My wife and I stayed in the El Sol cabin because we wanted more seclusion. The owner of the cabins, Melissa, emails perfect directions and you will need these directions. It's not difficult to find the cabins, but if you didn't have the printed directions you wouldn't be able to locate them. When we arrived at the El Sol cabin, Melissa had just finished checking the cabin. Melissa is extremely nice and told us about a storm had hit them two days prior, so the satellite tv and internet weren't working. This didn't bother us since we never turned on the tv and we used our smartphones for the internet. Either way, both utilities were repaired and running by our second day. Both cabins have wooden floors and consist of a living room/kitchen area, one bedroom, and a bathroom. The living/kitchen area has a wood burning fireplace, tv, sofa, chair, refrigerator, stovetop oven, microwave, coffee pot, and dining table. There are window a/c units in the living room area and bedroom. I don't know how well they work since we didn't need them. They also have ceiling fans in the bedroom and living areas. We were able to sleep with the windows open since the cabins sit high enough for a very pleasant breeze. The bedroom has a queen size bed. My wife and I both thought the mattress was too soft for us. We're not big people, but our bodies formed somewhat of a "valley" in the mattress. Some people like this, but we like some firmness to our mattress. This was our only complaint, if you want to call it that since it really didn't affect our sleep. The bedroom also has a chest to store some of your clothes, end tables, and a clock/radio/alarm. The bathroom does have a suitable place for hanging all your clothes. Also in the bathroom there's a nice size step in shower, a sink, and of course, a toilet. There was plenty of hot water and you don't have to wait long to get the water hot enough for a nice shower. The water supply is collected rain water. Both cabins have their own cisterns and the water is filtered. Showers are nice with the soft rain water and much better than city water. Some people might not enjoy the taste of filtered rain water, more so if they're use to their chemical laden city water. :) We didn't have any issues with drinking the water. Outside, the cabins have plenty of trees. The El Sol is a tad more wooded. Both cabins have a gas grill, outdoor table and chairs, fire pit, hammock, and lounging chairs. There are two rocking chairs on the porch of both cabins. Both cabins have working hot tubs. I think I covered everything you need to know about the cabins. For my wife and I, it was nice to sit on the porch and watch the deer and foxes walking around the cabins. If you want to guarantee yourself seeing some deer, just throw some feed corn a few yards from the cabin porch. You can buy a bag of corn at the Ace hardware store or the feed store in town. My wife and I had a very nice, quiet, and relaxing time at Buffalo Bend. I'm sure we'll plan another stay in the near future.

The hot-tub (built the front patio) has a really nice view of the hills MILES away. Did I mention that it's PRIVATE? It was clean and well stocked. Almost instant hot water too. Also, a very short drive to The Square in Wimberley (maybe 4-5 minutes). I don't like to just click "Excellent" on every detail if it really wasn't but it really was ;). buffalobendcabins@yahoo.com

So far, this place is fantastic!…read more My family - parents, husband, and 2 kids are staying in the Comfort Cottage for 4 nights over the Memorial Day Weekend. Our cottage is just perfect! Downstairs has 1 bedroom with 2 queen beds, upstairs room with 1 king bed, and living room with a fold out couch (2 bathrooms and 1 has a HUGE jacuzzi tub-SCORE!). Plenty of space for 6 people. Great little kitchen. The whole cottage is surrounded by covered porches with rocking chairs, picnic tables, you name it. When I booked our cottage I asked for an outside grill which they delivered about 10 minutes after our arrival. They have an awesome system for "Check-In". No need to hunt someone down. They give you a code that you use for the whole weekend. Electronic lock door. This is perfect, rather than having a key everyone has to share! (also no key to loose!). There are 12 cabins (i think) on the grounds. Everything is very clean, the construction of the cabins is very nice. Huge Bonus for awesome swimming pool, that is mostly shallow end, perfect for little kids. Both ends are 3 feet deep and the middle gets to 5 feet deep. Bonus is a playground next to the pool. We could stay right here to whole time, relax and have fun. BUT, we are only 8 blocks from Gruene so we have to go check that all out and have some cold beers at the famous Gruene Hall. I will definitely call this place any time I am coming to New Braunfels!

We came during December, so it's hard to really take it vantage of everything this place has to…read moreoffer, but it was an amazing stay nonetheless. It's a lot cheaper during the winter, and during the week. But my kids still loved all did this place had to offer. The scenery, the location, the activities are so worth it. Cons There was no shampoo or conditioner, you have to clean up for yourself even though there is a $75 cleaning fee, there are way too many cats and it's gross when they come in your door if you leave it slightly open for more than a second, they are frightening at night, there is no clean water to drink, they advertise cabins that accommodate eight but it's truly only six with you bringing your own bed for the remaining two, wi-Fi is poor, no towels on loan from the inn. Pros Low price in the winter, beautiful scenery, gorgeous cabins, lots of outdoor activities even in the winter like basketball, volleyball bonfires, bowling, connect four, fishing, lots of great indoor activities for kids like pool, ping-pong, Jenga, places to cook out, lots of hammocks and outdoor seating, great outdoor deck overlooking the river, accommodations for various parties sizes like teepees. If you go in the summer they have free canoes to use, paddleboard's to try, river swings to jump from, and tubes. It was easy to access, you can go straight to your room with a code, and it's has great outdoor hiking areas. They even have a hot tub. Honestly it's the views that make this place worthwhile. I had a difficult time choosing between this location, the River Road location, and The Guadalupe River location, they all seem pretty similar. But for the price and amenities, the Geronimo really is the place to go. In the winter when it's slow season it's even more amazing because we truly had the entire place to ourselves. There were no other people here that's pretty cool! There is a grocery store about eight minutes from the cabins to grab firewood or coal, meat to grill and marshmallows to roast. This is a great stay for any family friends or couples. Pro tip stay in the sweet medicine cabinet, it's furthest from the road, closest to the river, has a true stairwell to the loft, and close to the extra bathrooms.

1 Star -- Extremely disappointing and unsanitary…read more We recently stayed at Geronimo Creek Retreat for a family trip and rented several accommodations, including a couple of the treehouses, a teepee, and the main house. Unfortunately, the condition of the property was far below what we expected and, in several areas, was genuinely concerning. The main house was absolutely unacceptable. There was an overwhelming mold/mildew smell throughout the house -- so strong that it felt like you could taste it. The condition of the kitchen was especially disturbing. The floor was literally falling in, the stove was filthy, and the overall condition of the house was so poor that we honestly questioned how it was considered safe to rent. The treehouse we stayed in was somewhat better, but even there we found significant issues. The bathroom had extensive black mold, and there were trees/vegetation growing onto the roof. This is not what we expected when paying to stay at a vacation retreat. And then, after we had already left, we found a bed bug among our belongings. Given that we had stayed at these accommodations immediately beforehand, this was extremely upsetting and concerning. We cannot say with absolute certainty where it came from, but the timing was certainly alarming. The noise was another major issue. There were people partying and being extremely loud until all hours of the early morning. This was supposed to be a family getaway, but it was difficult to get any decent sleep with the partying continuing late into the night. There needs to be much better enforcement of quiet hours, particularly at a property that caters to families. This could have been a beautiful family getaway, but instead we spent much of the trip dealing with conditions that were unsanitary, poorly maintained, and frankly shocking. Between the mold, the condition of the buildings, the cleanliness issues, the potential bed bug exposure, and the excessive late-night noise, this was not the relaxing family trip we paid for. The property needs serious maintenance, cleaning, and attention to health and safety issues before continuing to rent some of these accommodations to guests. We absolutely would not stay here again, and I cannot recommend Geronimo Creek Retreat to other families based on our experience.
