We wanted to get a spot on the water so we had to book exactly 6 months out. That is when the reservations open. The campground is about 35 minutes outside of Nashville. It sits on Old Hickory Lake which is a decent sized lake for watersports and fishing. There is grocery and shopping near by. We were able to take in the sights in Nashville before they closed down. Camping at Cages Bend allows for social distancing. We did not use the facilities, but they are available as is a dump station. All sites are water and electric only.

The breakfast was good. The front desk was friendly. The pool was dirty. The bathroom was falling…read moreapart the bath fan didn't work. The caulk around the tub was missing/deteriorating. The tub was refinished and the coating was falling off and very slippery. The beds were stiff. The hallway had sections of carpet cut out. Apparently they've had a lot of problems with dogs. I checked in the lady behind the desk was kind of strange, but she checked me in efficiently and we were able to get into our room. Normally when I reserve ahead and I say I have a dog, they put me on the first floor, so it's easy to let the dog out. But apparently they were full so we were on the third floor. It happens. Like the La Quinta is got a few little issues. Like the . Otherwise it was very comfy beds and mostly quiet, I slept very well. And it really may traveling much easier when you can get a good rest. The location was convenient because it was right off the freeway and easy to get back on. It also helped that I had a number of good restaurants, but we can get food and then get back on our journey. Would definitely stop by again.

My husband was a Fire Chief for a volunteer fire department as well as holding a regular full time job and he needed to relax from the stress of his work. He was a bit nervous at first when I said we were going to stay in a cabin. We drove up and walked into the cabin and I could see all his stress leave his body as he let out a big sigh. I recommend this place to everyone I can. Nate and Rhonda are two of the nicest people whom I like to call friends now. If you want to go somewhere to kick back and relax after seeing the sites I highly recommend Rockhaven Cabin Rentals, especially Uncle Pete's Cabin. I hope to be able to go back.

He delivered the camper to the campground and was there setting up when we arrived. He provided a quick intro to the workings of the heat/stovetop and refrigerator and we were set! After hiking, we returned to find a record player with records and a flat screen tv and dvd player ready for the evening! The seating areas are easily converted to sleeping space which provided ample room for the 3 of us. Plenty of warm bedding, pillows and towels were provided in the cost of the rental. Rooms are right up next to the pool with no protection AT ALL. On one side, you have regular oldies playing, on the other side you have the DJ playing, resulting in total cacophony. But I can't tell you if that makes staying there worth it or not. I stopped by to see the infamous pool area. It's pretty cool, but fairly underwhelming. Just a small-ish pool, though surprisingly not overcrowded on a Saturday August afternoon. The area was pretty clean and uncluttered. The bar area was dimly lit, retro, and pretty empty. Very few things to choose from. Mostly well drinks/cocktails and frozen margaritas. Laid back, unproblematic service. I spent some time sitting outside, just admiring the aesthetic and taking some photos. There is a Photo Booth outside. A food truck selling tacos and hot dogs. A 38 plus dollar day pass for the pool seems expensive for what you're getting. Guests get a couple hours in the morning before the public is allowed in. For a certain demographic, young and bored, this spot would probably be fine. But I wouldn't pay another 38 bucks to visit.

I originally saw them featured on an article highlighting the countries best divey hotels and I'm glad I booked it because the disco theme was a perfect way to bring in my birthday night. The bar was open reasonably late offering an option to pregame before dinner. The plumbing is sensitive here as when I showered the water didn't drain well but that's probably related to the upgrades they were making at the time so I allowed it. It's certainly a groovy spot and the rooms are not anything like your average motel. Parking is on site and it's pet friendly. Plus, tbere are ashtrays outside on each table for the smokers.

That was the disconnect I felt. I booked a private sound bath for a group because Southall seemed like the perfect setting for my birthday. Visually, the property exceeds expectations. Every building, pathway, and landscape feels intentional, and it's clear an incredible amount of care and investment went into creating such a beautiful environment. Many members of the team reflected a high level of hospitality. The valet staff and front desk team were consistently warm and professional, and the gentleman overseeing the mineral pool left a lasting impression simply by remembering my name after a brief interaction. Those moments felt personal and thoughtful, and they are exactly what luxury hospitality should feel like. The setting itself is also undeniably exceptional. Southall has created an environment that feels immersive, intentional, and visually refined at every turn. Unfortunately, the central experience we came for did not reflect the same standard. Before the session even began, a staff member assumed I was pregnant and told me I couldn't use the sauna or steam room. While I'm sure no harm was intended, comments like that can be deeply personal, and luxury hospitality should never make assumptions about a guest's body or medical history. The sound bath itself also fell short of expectations. The soundbath practitioner was warm and welcoming, and I genuinely enjoyed the portion she led. My concern wasn't with her, but with how the experience was structured. A significant portion of our scheduled hour was reserved for tea and group reflection rather than the sound bath itself. The environment also worked against the experience. Conversations from the hallway were frequently audible throughout the session, making it difficult to stay fully immersed in what should have been one of the most restorative parts of the day. Even smaller operational details reflected a lack of polish. At the bar, our group ordered several cocktails together under one ticket. By the time the last drinks were served, the ice in the first cocktails had already melted noticeably. In a truly luxury environment, there is an expectation of pride in craft at every level, often including remaking a drink rather than allowing it to degrade before it reaches the guest. It's a small detail, but luxury hospitality is built on getting the small things right. What disappointed me most is that I left feeling I could have booked a sound bath with a local wellness studio, had a deeper and more meaningful experience, and spent a fraction of the cost. Southall offered the more beautiful setting, but not the more memorable experience. I share this because I genuinely believe Southall has the foundation to become exceptional. The property is extraordinary, and many members of the team clearly care deeply about their guests. My hope is that the same level of intention evident in the architecture and landscape will eventually extend into every layer of the guest experience. When that alignment happens, Southall will be a destination.

Our family for the last 10 years has stayed at hotels nearly 26 weekends out of the year and never have I ever experience such ridiculous rules. They wouldn't let us hang door hangers on the kids doors, they wouldn't let the kids play at all, indoor or even outdoor which was absolutely ridiculous, so then we try and send the kids to their rooms to just sit and play their video games quietly but then we were told they are not even aloud to be in their own rooms we paid for by themselves because they are not allowed to be in their own rooms without an adult. These are 11- & 12-year-old kids that at home stay home all day by themselves without parents but yet they couldn't stay in their own rooms without an adult that we paid way too much money for quite frankly. It was absolutely ridiculous. Then on top of that, as I mentioned we travel around the country half the year for sports and stay with our teams and have never had anything ridiculous like this. We always order food and sit in the lobby area and eat and drink our food and just socialize with our team, but we were also told that we couldn't bring any outside food or drinks into the cafeteria/lounge area. They literally gave us a postcard with all of these obnoxiously ridiculous rules upon our check-in. So because of these ridiculous rules, we were forced to leave the hotel and go and spend more money to take our kids to a local venue to hangout and eat food which then just cost our team even more money than we already had to spend on this ridiculous $200+ a night hotel just to get treated like complete crap. It was so ridiculous. The 2nd day we were there the 2 young girls working the desk had nothing better to do than to continue to keep leaving the front desk unattended so that they could go out of their way to walk the hallways and stalk every step of what our kids were doing so they could keep coming and giving us "WARNINGS" that were going to be kicked out if we didn't follow their ridiculous rules. They literally even put on the post card that they provided each of us when we checked in that they will only give us "ONE WARNING" before we are asked to leave. Complete insanity that they have an agreement with GMB Baseball Organization to be a "STAY & PLAY" hotel but treat the people bringing them so much business like this. I would NEVER, EVER, EVER stay at this hotel again nor would I ever recommend anyone else to stay here and I want a full refund back for my entire stay otherwise I will have no choice but to file a BBB complaint, and file a chargeback with my bank.
