Discovered all 4 tires were manufactured before the year 2000 - at least 21 years ago!. When I bought the tires I didn't know about finding out the year and month of manufacture from the DOT code on the tire. I replaced all 4 tires and to their credit, they refunded the cost of the used tires I had bought from them, though not the labor to put them on - they should have included that , too, as I incurred other expenses because of this tire blowout - forfeited my hotel reservation that night because I couldn't reach my intended hotel as it was too far to drive to with the donut spare on. I had to pay $200 for a local hotel, and another $150 for a 2nd hotel stay because I had been delayed a day trying to find 4 new tires in a town that had no tire stores, and I also incurred the cost of 4 new tires ($660). So selling me 4 crappy tires cost me an extra $1000 plus a lot of hassle. They should inform customers what the year of manufacture was on the used tires they are buying so the buyer can be fully informed about what they're getting. And Abbsry should not even have tires more than 10 years old in their inventory. Even an unused tire sitting for years in a warehouse deteriorates. This is a safety issue. If that tire had been a front tire and had blown at 120 kph on the Coquahalla we could have had a serious accident and possibly been killed, along with whoever else we may have affected by our out of control vehicle.

When I went to store my winter tires, I opened the bags to discover my nearly-new Michelin X-Ice winter tires had been switched for cheap, low quality ones. I have called them twice, suggesting maybe it was an honest mistake but I really need my good tires back. They have done nothing to fix the situation. They refuse to return my expensive tires and refuse to admit wrongdoing, even though I have the invoice for the Michelins. I used to like supporting small local shops like this, but this has cured me. I will go to large businesses with systems in place for accountability and mechanisms for recourse. I feel ripped off, taken advantage of, and am feeling strongly that I was targeted because he thought I wouldn't notice.

Back in those days they bent over backwards without an ask to ensure customers would return over and over. Staff argued with me that MY tires had a 100K rating when the manufacturer and competitors clearly stated the tires were good for 115K when I originally purchased them This year they are currently rated for 100K. They lowered the rating due to early wear problems is my guess. Mine had only 62K on them. They should have had only 54% wear. They're now down to 3-4 mm where safety on wet roads is compromised. At first the sales person gave me a full retail quote. I had to push for the warranty reduction which he knew I was there for. Then they offered to sell me more crap for full pop retail minus 25ish%. They've been…read morestraight forward with me about problems that need attention versus problems that can wait and they seem to do their best to keep costs reasonable. I wouldn't suggest getting an oil change here unless you're getting other work done because an oil change on its own here is unnecessarily expensive but if you double it up with other work then the labour overlaps and it's cheaper. Other than that, I'd recommend them. They even sent one of their guys across town to pick me up and bring me back to the shop to pick up my car once when my plans for a ride down there fell through.
