It's quite a nice little park with a pedestrian bridge going over the Barren River. It seems to be situated along part of the city-wide bike trail, so I'm excited for warmer weather to take the bikes out for a spin and stop back by! I'm happy to see BG making efforts to have and maintain these parks for the community. Worth a stop by if you're passing through and need to stretch your legs or live nearby and need a break!

Not busy at all. Negative: Might not want to go too late at night. Homeless obviously live there and wash their clothes. You find their clothes hanging all over and some vehicles park below bridge. There was one car that looked like they were packing up their kayak, but another two cars of people hanging out looking like they were up to no good in the woods, but did eventually leave. Overall: I will visit this spot many times in the future. It's peaceful and wonderful just walking the bridge overlooking the view.

There are supposedly 2.5 miles of trails but I am not sure if that counts mountain bike trails or walking trails. There's plenty of mountain biking to do and it looks quite fun if you're into that. The pedestrian trails are paved and nice but they sadly don't have as much of a view of the river as the bike trails! I also didn't follow the trails through the entire park as they seem to cross the road. I couldn't see on the other side an obvious trail connection so I just turned back. The park itself is between industrial area and farmland so you get nice views for half of it and not so nice views for the other half (also lots of noise during a weekday). Overall the trails were well maintained (a bit wet) and the park was pleasant to walk through. Worth a visit if you want a change of scenery.

There weren't any sporting events going on while we visited so the park was pretty empty, but I could see it getting crowded with sporting events going on. Pros: The playground was huge and had plenty of play structures to keep the kids entertained for a while. Lots of cute picnic spots overlooking the pond. Plenty of parking. Easy access to I-65. Cons: It was very hot and shade at the playground was limited, but there was plenty of shade by the pond and other locations throughout the park. No bathrooms that we saw, only portable toilets. Looking for a place to have a picnic lunch after the Corvette Museum and before visiting the Lost River Cave. This is a park along Cave Mill Road. The full name of the park is Bark Park at H.P. Thomas Park. It is off the north side of the road and has a large area to the entire park. There is a small parking lot with spaces for about 20 cars. There is a building overlooking a green that has bathrooms and several tables under the patio away from the parking lot and overlooking the fields. The sign for the park was slightly hidden by the overgrown shrubbery. There are large fields directly in front of the building and a dog park that is off to the left as you face away from the road. The dog park seemed rather busy with many people parking and bringing their furry family for playtime at that part of the park. It was a very pleasant place for a picnic with convenient facilities and good location under cover. A solid place for a pleasant break in the Bowling Green area.
