I arrived at the office without an appointment and there was no one waiting. The office is very small with just a few chairs, and a small tea/coffee station. I was taken in immediately. Very often, my veins are difficult to work with. During the draw, the phlebotomist was Jose. He was able to get the draw on the first try and I did not have type of bruising or issues afterward. I had to return a couple of days later for a test that must be done early in morning. Upon arrival, there were a few people ahead of me and it was standing room only. There was only one person working and she was with a patient in the back, so it took some time to check in. After checking in, another employee arrived and those in the waiting room were helped. The phlebotomist that I had for the second test was Joanna, aka JoJo. She was very personable and was able to get the draw on the first try. I enjoyed speaking with her and she made the appointment comfortable. I had no issues with bruising after the test. The office is on the second floor of a medical building. The building has paid parking, but I always park on the street. There is metered parking and free street parking available within easy walking distance of the building.

I did a quick search of urgent cares that were open now and I came across Holy Cross Urgent Care. I called them to confirm they were still open and if they accepted my insurance. I spoke to Steve and he confirmed that my insurance was accepted and I told him I would be coming in now. To make things quicker and just to confirm he told he could run my insurance to verify that it's valid and it's accepted. I really appreciated that because I didn't want to be blind sided if it was out of network. I arrived within 20mins and they could tell I was in distress Steve called me by name and really put me at ease. I had to fill out some quick paperwork, give my ID and insurance. Thankfully the check in process went by quick, I was greeted by Josh and Mike Chulyan, PA-C. Josh took my vitals and after I told Mike what had taken place with me. I absolutely loved his bedside manner. He took his time to listen to EVERYTHING I said and lol I talked a lot. He made me feel calm and heard. He recommended an x-ray and than we would discuss. Steve did my x-ray and I have to say I appreciate him so much for his care and concern. When he was performing the x ray he asked for my permission to touch me/position me for the imaging and I really think this was so respectful. Once again great service and overall professionalism. I love that they have an x-ray machine on site. Clean waiting room. Clean, spacious rooms and even a hydration room for IV drips. Wow!! Btw the facility on the outside doesn't look very pretty but let me say the minute you walk in you would have never think how amazing this facility inside truly is. The facility was extremely well organized and clean. They have parking in the back. I also like that I didn't have to wait long to be seen, and literally from the moment I walked in, these 3 gentleman were so welcoming, attentive and so efficient. They really took the time to listen to my concerns and Mike provided me with my treatment plan in a way that was easy to understand. All I have to say is that I was thoroughly impressed with the level of care and professionalism I received from the whole entire staff...Steve, Josh and of course from Mike, PA-C. I couldn't wait to come home to write this review because this is the best care I have ever received at an urgent care ever. God forbid I ever have to come back but if I do this will be the first place I go. I highly recommend this urgent care. I used to go to another urgent care on Reseda, but comparing the two, there is honestly no contest. AFC is far cleaner, much better organized, and endlessly efficient. We've been coming here for two years now, and to be honest, I prefer coming here over seeing my primary care physician. You never have to wait a long time to be seen (making an appointment online is a bonus!!!) and once you're in the room, you never feel rushed. Every question I have is answered thoroughly, and you can truly tell the entire team wants what's best for the patient. A special shoutout to Sosa, PA! He has been absolutely amazing with both my kids and myself, consistently delivering the exact care we need to get back on our feet. Filled out paperwork then waited and waited over 45 minutes. Paid $199 as I don't have insurance. Was finally brought to the back and a nice lady took my vitals and brought me to an exam room. All the exam rooms doors were open. I was the only one there. Waited 15 more minutes. A young man came in and said he was a physicians assistant. Ok well I'm here now so. We talk for one minute then he starts the exam. He looks in my ears and says I need lavage. Weird because I do that every couple of months. He stops the exam and says he'll be right back. Another 15 minutes later he says yes I need that and it's an extra charge. He wouldnt tell me how much. So, I asked if I could shoot home real quick and do that myself and come straight back within the hour. He said if I leave that's the end of the visit and would have to pay again. I said, jeez it seems like you guys are all about the money here. He steps toward me and says "don't even go there". So after paying $199 to see a doctor, now I have a PA telling me I can't question why I got a one minute exam and they want more money. He wouldn't check my eyes, he wouldn't check the rash on different parts of my body, he wanted more money and I wasn't allowed to question that. He said it in a mildly aggressive way. He never even told me how much more money this would cost. That was enough for me. I walked out and told the lady in the front I felt like I was ripped off and I expected my money back. I did not get a refund and this money grubbing corporation had texted me that someone would contact me for a resolution. Almost a month later and nothing. This is a test case as to how our healthcare system is totally broken. I went to an urgent care in San Fernando and met Dr Parray. $150 and a 5 minute exam and he prescribed ear and eye drops, and a cream for the rash that did the trick for me. He called me 2 days later to follow up with the treatment. He's a nice older doctor that has seen it all and cares for everyone he sees. AFC doesn't even have a Dr they have an aggressive PA and they only care about siphoning money from your insurance company. Don't waste your time or money.

This particular visit was on a weekend, and I noticed it was just Dr. Armine M and Nurse Tina handling everything. Despite it being clearly a busy time with lots of patients coming and going, they were absolutely incredible. Both Dr. Armine and Tina were incredibly professional, so understanding, and genuinely caring. What really stood out was how they managed to greet every single person who walked through the door, even with everything going on. And even though they were obviously swamped, they remained so calm and made sure to apologize to everyone for any slight delays. That level of consideration and excellent communication really made a huge difference. It truly means a lot when staff go above and beyond like that, especially under pressure. Just wanted to give them a huge shout-out!
