I have mixed feelings about Foto Source. I appreciate that they exist in Whistler - but their prices seem exorbitant - even for a resort! I bought a Canon Rebel camera kit back home in the U.S. the day before I hopped on the plane to Vancouver - and what I did not realize is the camera kit did not include a memory card! So I found Foto Source, called them to verify they carried memory cards, and then made my way over from the hotel. I bought a ProMaster Performance SDHC CLASS 10 32GB Secure Digital Memory Card - for $60.00 frickin' dollars! I would have paid half that if I had bought in back home in the U.S.! I'm glad I found a memory card so that I got to use my digital SLR while on vacation, but the prices are to high! Also - a lot of businesses in Whistler have an address problem - I've noticed that what appears on many businesses credit card receipts - DOES NOT match the address listed on their web site/social media sites. The worst customer service I've ever experienced beyond a doubt. He was on his computer when he asked me what 'I wanted' and wouldn't even leave his chair. After I asked for an SD card that I could use on a go pro he tried to push other SD cards on me that weren't the ones I asked for. He never stated they weren't the gopro ones. After I checked the list and said those weren't the ones he actually started yelling at me to leave the store. Disgusting and distasteful. I'm here on vacation trying to have a good time.. This past summer (2013) I visited the Foto Source photography store in Whistler, BC when considering the purchase of a Nikon D-SLR camera; as a full-time resident of Whistler, I prefer to shop locally whenever possible. Because the Nikon D7100, the camera I was looking at, was newly released and priced at a higher price point than most of Nikon's non-professional line, I didn't expect that the staff would be as familiar with the camera as they were, particularly since they had only received their first shipment that week. Before purchasing the camera, I visited the store twice the same week and, as a result, had the opportunity to meet every staff member during those visits. I was highly impressed with the staff's knowledge base and familiarity with many of the comparable D-SLR's on the market, and when they weren't sure about a particular feature on the new D7100, they took the time to find out while I waited. However, what impressed me the most was the patience, courtesy, and attentiveness every staff member showed me while answering my many questions. There was no hesitation to open up the box, assemble the camera, and allow me to try it out in the store. Even when I didn't purchase the camera my first visit (telling them I wanted to do a little more reading about it), they were courteous and professional, and even offered to answer by email any other questions that I may have. They were a pleasure to interact with. My last comment is an important one for anyone visiting the Whistler Foto Source. Many times residents of Whistler pay a premium when making purchases in our beautiful, but small and somewhat remote, village. When I talked price with the staff at Foto Source, they told me that they would match any price offered in the Vancouver area (which has a large and competitive retail photography market, but is 2 hours drive away). True to their word, when I purchased my D7100, not only did they match Vancouver prices, but they honoured a 'special' that several of the city stores offered. As a result of my experiences at this store, they are the ONLY photography store I use. Without hesitation, I recommend this store for any photographic supplies and services you require.
