    Store front at night

Greenfield is known for their family owned companies, and Foster's is another Greenfield gem. This Supermarket has all the items that you would be looking for in a chain store, but they also have an incredible selection of local goods. Ever time that I walk into this store they have great deals on fruits and produce as well. They also have a great deli and an incredible staff. They always great me when I walk in, and have genuine conversations when checking out. If you are looking for chain supermarket quality items but don't want the headache of shopping in one, then Foster's is the place to go! This family owned store will make you feel warm and fuzzy!

My childhood is riddled with memories of Mr. (Bud) Foster's voice on the radio yelling about fresh fish. When fish was on the menu at our home, it always came from here. Now, as an adult making the decisions about where our family shops for groceries, I get to visit Foster's once a week. The people who work in the various departments are knowledgeable, friendly, and accessible. The meat guy, for example, once saw me making a sneer face at commercial beef. He asked me why, which started a whole conversation about grass fed local versus commercial, and how my husband did not share my ethics and I was buying the beef for him. He helped me choose burger for my husband and I headed off to complete my purchases. I was in line to check out when this same staff member brought me a pound of Foxbard ground beef - grass fed, and local - so I could have a burger too. The kids at the register are pleasant and communicative. Even the guys who BAG are social and fun to be around. I've heard people say that it's more expensive to shop at Foster's, but I haven't seen that reflected in my grocery bill. Maybe this is because I am a perimeter shopper - produce, fish, dairy - or maybe it's a wrong perception of locals. Regardless - It's the little things that build and make a community what it is. Foster's lives and breathes local community. As long as I am the one doing the shopping, they've got my dollar.

Live lobsters. A large selection of options in every aisle. Incredible customer service. Place is old and a bit run down.

A bit pricey, but over all a good store, very friendly employees. Alcohol is cheap.

Barely pushes the four-star. It was fun to snoop and compare it to Kroger, Safeway/Albertsons,…read moreAldi, Trader Joes, and indie world markets. The variety and presentation of foods was very good. The prices, whew. On the high side, but it's tougher now to keep up with what must be a nightmare of price changes. Nonetheless, there was attention paid to stocking a wide variety of foods. You could go to Sam's Club and get broccolini for about a third of the price. Trader Joe's has the same sweet Vidalias for about a third less. You can't find the vegan substitutes at either Sam's or TJ's. There are good fresh fish and mussels/clams/etc. I picked up some "Norwegian" cod (probably Icelandic) that was fresh and stellar. We found exactly what we needed; the prices were a little high but we also felt it unusual to find the variety we did. This has a price and we paid it. It could be less expensive, but then, they'll have high competition from the Aldi's going up across the street soon; perhaps that will temper the prices, but we hope it doesn't temper the variety, which was pretty darn good.

Mind you I work overnight shifts and travel often for work for health and human services as a paramedic. So the convenience was very much appreciated especially when I drive 45 minutes to and from work. But as of recently I'm not sure why since it took forever to get some explanation why I'm being targeted, granted I've always paid out of pocket because it causes less of a delay on picking up my medications, and it's actually more affordable because my health insurance sucks so I don't utilize that. Plus the discount for paying out of pocket made more sense. But as of recently Rachelle, the large lady who has been nothing but rude to me suddenly states she can't fill my prescriptions, yes I understand it's just my regular Adderall that I take as needed especially during classes while out of state and it helps me. But I'm suddenly told she can't fill it because she needs to talk to my prescriber and that I'm suspicious. I've been coming here for over a year, not once abused any sort of medications because I would lose my job on top of my job with the government, and suddenly she tells me I'm suspicious and won't fill it. When she does talk to my prescriber she's just as rude when I heard what she told her. Absolutely agitated and felt completely upset that she assumed I was someone who would be suspicious. Now I'd like to say because of that rude troll Rachelle, which by the way you can probably encourage her for better hygiene due to her breath and tartar and self care, I have not had my medication for over a month and it has been nothing but a struggle because of her assumptions and suddenly targeting me after going there for over a year with absolutely no problems! Though I'd like to say I have not had any problems with other persons in this pharmacy, I'd like to a commend Lee, Sam, And Ed for all being kind, patient and never once made me feel like I was being profiled as well as the kind small talk and interactions. You 3 are much appreciate and I'm sorry your stuck working with a tyrant.

Was looking to buy a kielbasa, but was specifically looking for one stuffed krajana style (Polish for chunky), not ground meat style. They only make the latter. I ended up with frozen packages (frozen, due to the long drive home) of Italian sweet sausage, Italian hot sausage, and bratwurst. Each priced at $10.49 / lb. For me, a bit steep. DD got breakfast sausage. Also, what seemed to be a side of beef. It was very heavy carrying it to my vehicle. He, who wears a Rolex watch (and drives a Lincoln!) also thought the prices were steep. He rated them 3 star, which is to be expected. He has, in fact, earned his reputation as Demanding Dan. If I lived a bit closer, would be interested in trying a few other things. And fresh, not frozen. Update - next day. I had one each of the hot and sweet Italian sausage. Very, very good. Nicely spiced, seems like lower fat content than store-bought. Still pricey, though, and no fennel seeds!?!?
