Both holes if not played 'smart' can ruin a good score. I live in Crook county (not a typo) and if this course were there it would cost twice as much. Golfing in Lake County is truly value based and worth the drive. Midlane and Foss park are nearby and very nice with similar rates. The club house is also worthy of having lunch after your round.

Our foursome was on time and ready to go, but they were behind which is understandable. As I started to tee off I got a call and my watch vibrates - I silence it. Took me an extra 10 seconds - grand total of 30 seconds to tee up my first shot of 18 holes. Then this disrespectful turd decides Echem me and start talking as I am trying to tee off - completely ruining my tee shot. No apologies. Then he proceeds to yell that we are "going to have to hurry up" after his ineptitude delayed us more than 15 minutes from the start. Really a poor excuse for a human and a starter. To think that this guy " runs the place" says terrible things about this course. I would avoid this place at all costs if you care about your time and being treated like a human.

This is the first time I went to a driving range that is built essentially on the course. When I went, it was empty so I had the range to myself - just me and a bucket of 100 or so golf balls. Grass was in OK shape but I heard it is maintenanced every Thursday I think - I was there on a Wednesday. The people working there do not seem to care that you pick up balls close enough to your bay either. So if you, or someone else, hits a ball 10 feet in front of you, you can grab it. Obviously much easier for me to do this being alone. Anyway, loved how quiet it is and how nice the people working there are. Would be nice to have perfect grass but tell me where I can get that if you ever find that.

Curds came out first and were delicious. Boneless wings next - I take a bite and comment they are cold. Daughter has one and said it was ok. Wife bites into one and realizes the chicken is raw! Raw chicken! That is not good or good for you! The staff once back to the table hurried the uneaten wings away. Provided a free round and a $35 gift card. After paying the bill I am not sure why I did not use the gift card as I am not sure I will be returning. We ordered burgers and tots, which were decent (tots - yum!) although we were let down by Beer Nuggets, which were like pillsbury crescent rolls with red sauce and neither beer nor nuggets. The Detroit style pizza did look very promising and I saw lots of pizza being carried out. Duffer's had a fun, friendly vibe and I'd come back to try the pizza.

The clubhouse and facilities are very nice and staff is superb. This is a private club and if you have any way of playing this through an event or member, I would jump at the chance.
