We vetted various renovation companies and decided to go with Stake Renovations as they checked all the boxes. Off the bat Michael swept in with a detailed plan, a reasonable quote, timeline, and a great team of experts. Michael dedicated time to sit with me and discuss design alternatives for the apartment, that will best maximize on space. The Stake team executed the work as planned and with attention to every detail. Our home was in good hands with Michael, so much so that we decided to expand the scope to include our basement, with a new kitchen and sprucing up of our utility room. Of course they helped with design ideas and provided reasonable quote for the additional work - installing air mini-split units through the apartment and basement (the modern ceiling insert kind) - also replaced a huge large water heater tank with a space saving modern wall mount tankless water heater. This team is the real deal - they can do it all! The overall results were night and day - high quality and truly breathtaking, sleek, modern, and amazing. Having said that, I began my search for a decorator to refresh my living room to accommodate the new spouse as well as our adopted four-legged brood and I am so happy I came upon Rhobin. A few of my concerns were: 1. Budget. We were looking for a "bigger" living room versus being able to just move out into a larger apartment 2. We don't live in Manhattan. We aren't far away but nonetheless, not being in Manhattan scares away vendors. 3. Too small of a project for anyone to bother with. I came across Rhobin's site and saw that he actually did a project in Hoboken so I got to work on drafting a very detailed email. Worst comes to worst, he can ignore me like some of the firms I reached out to or he could respond and politely let me down. But he did not. He responded and thanked me for my detail in describing our situation and detailing what we were looking for. We met with Rhobin and Chi to go over the presentation, agreed that we wanted to take on this project with his firm and that was it from there. Having never done a decorating project before, I think I learned a lot working with Rhobin. First off, you don't have to micro-manage. He has it under control. I think that the areas which gave me anxiety such the electrician, the painting, installation, etc., he took care of and I really didn't have to worry at all. This is an evolving process and ultimately you have to remember why you hired him. You trust him. You trust his professional experience, you trust his taste, you trust his vision. When I see the reactions of guests that come by to our place, it makes us realize that our apartment (living room) looks completely different. The statement pieces, the accessories, wall shelves - they all take a part in creating a bigger living space for us. This was phase I. I am hoping our bedroom next year will be phase II!!!

When we bought our new apartment, I needed some help with choosing the right paint colors and finishes since I was overwhelmed by the options and wanted to make sure our new place had character and warmth. Jennifer took a look at my new place and helped me plan where all my existing furniture would fit and then we discussed goals for what new pieces would be needed. Then she got paint samples which she tested in different parts of the apartment with different lighting. In addition to those choices, she gave me a good sense of what to look for in case I went to the paint store myself for additional colors. She also recommended a painter to do the actual painting. Everything turned out wonderfully and she pulled together some unique colors & looks that hadn't even occurred to me. After the painting job was completed, I hired her for advice and some general help in choosing the right kind of carpet, furniture, window treatments, etc. Again, she presented great picks for my budget. I also liked that she - being a mom herself - knew a lot about products that are safe and suitable for a family with children, while not compromising on the look. Jennifer was great with my crazy schedule (a toddler, job, moving, etc). She is very diligent, follows up and you will never wonder when something will be delivered or completed. Like most renovations, costs ended up being higher than expected, so we had to make a few adjustments along the way and couldn't implement every single detail exactly as originally designed. That said, we followed Nada's vision as closely as possible--and it really shows.
