The cream was sweet, but not overpowering, and the tart of the berries balanced out the meal. As I was getting ready to check out, the waiter asked if I had ever received my second café con leche. Embarrassed for them, I admitted that I hadn't... Realizing they'd made ANOTHER mistake, he apologized profusely and quickly asked the barista to make me one to go. To compensate for my time and patience, he generously comped my entire meal, leaving me to pay only for the initial coffee (2.50 euros). I found Chocolat-Box nearby in the Gothic Quarter and it was walking distance from my hotel. I left my hotel and walked along the corridors of the quarter until I found the little brightly-lit dessert shop. I ordered the churros con chocolat to dine-in, paid in cash, and waited until it was ready. They reheated the churros from the case and poured me some hot chocolate for dipping. While it was not the freshest, it hit the spot. I'm a sucker for desserts and this one was pretty good. They sell other dessert items like gelato-style ice cream and pastries too. The café was not too busy and I was happy they were open late.
