Now this place is on my radar and when I need coffee in Greensboro I will look for Common Grounds. Most other places were closed or closing at this time of night and consider ourselves so fortunate to have found this place. To me it is the essential Coffee House. It must cater to college age clientele, as observed that night. Grungy and edgy atmosphere with a beatnik vibe that night. Especially with the poetry reading and rotation of musicians doing the music of The Beatles and the 1960s. Which makes sense since it was Sir Paul McCartney's birthday that day. I felt like I time traveled decades back. The coffee that we got was excellent. I believe I got a standard cafe latte. Inviting coffee aromas. Housed in an building from an older error, in an immense space with multiple areas/nooks. Back area I did not spend time in but I could see there was a pool table back there with people just hanging out. Definitely seem like places where people could just be themselves whilst being warm and inviting to those near them. Felt welcoming to intellectualism and good discussions. Also felt like a place not to be rushed and just stay however long. Plenty of board and other games on site. Kind of limited parking in the lot right in front of the building. Parking on the avenue might be challenging? We were lucky to get a spot right by the front door in the parking lot. Close proximity to UNCG campus and other schools. Probably a place that can be walk to fairly easy. In closing one of my favorite coffee houses that I've experienced in the Piedmont triad area.

Their food is scrumptious, inexpensive and it doesn't make me want to die five minutes later, unlike most fast food joints. They also have a huge selection of beer you won't find at your food lion and snacks for every occasion. It's a small, local business which actively participates in local community, if you drive by there once in a while you may catch a celebration or a farmers market which really is about the same. I've purchased several wonderful wines from Zetos in the past. But after the interaction I had with…read morethe owner last night, I will NEVER purchase from this business again. Myself and 2 colleagues were on our way to an evening event at a hotel in downtown Greensboro. I was not familiar with the location of the hotel and took a wrong turn down a dead end street so I pulled into the Zeto parking lot to turn around , confirm the hotel address and reset my GPS. It was closing time for Zeto so the owner was locking up the door at the same time. She sees me pull in and starts gesturing wildly to get out of her parking lot, then (before I can even put my car into drive) she jumps in her car and drives straight at my car while flashing her lights and boxing me in. I had to back up and drive around her car (which I immediately did) while she continued to wave her hands and point at the exit. Completely rude and uncalled for as we'd literally been in the parking lot for less than 2 minutes as I reset the GPS address and had no intention of parking there. I do understand that her parking lot is surrounded by apartments and she may have had a problem with people parking there in the past but this was very bizarre behavior for a business owner that should care about the community and act professionally. The unfortunate part is all 3 of us in the car were regular, frequent customers and enjoyed her store. After her over-the-top rudeness, we all agreed we'd never step foot in Zeto again. She lost 3 customers due to her behavior! We won't support businesses that treat others so poorly. I hope she will, in the future, take a breath and assess the situation before acting so inappropriately toward people.

Sue also shared a really cool story about the bottle of sparkling wine that I ended up purchasing, not only because I was excited to savor it but also because knowing a bit about its history made it that much more alluring. And it paired perfectly with my fried chicken! If you're really into wine, plan to drop by when you have time to explore - and get lost in their curated selection. If you're dropping by to grab a bottle for dinner or a party, ask Sue for a recommendation - she knows her stuff!
