At 5:45pm today, Wednesday October 19, 2022, as I was driving using my phone via car speaker. I thought to myself where could I find CURRENT and ACCURATE information regarding my early voting locations. Immediately my first thought was just Google it! Immediately Jesus told me not to because I was driving! So, I called up my local library yes... I knew the time was pressing but surely someone there would definitely be able to assist me. Low and behold I was sadly mistaken. When I asked if she knew of any places for early voting her first answer was NO! OMGoodness I thought! My mouth is so quick I said ma'am ( black lady) aren't this the library-I'm driving is there anyway you could help me, search Google or whatever. She placed me in hold then said oh yes the building across the street Merle Manders are doing early voting but they closed at 5:00pm. I couldn't believe it! I asked her for number and she gave it to me. I attempted to call and no answer-shoot forget it ( like most of us would say) Ugghh. I got home checked my mail and guess what- remember all those mailers that we sometimes don't read ? GUESS what was there? Yes you're right! Merle Manders was on the list! 8a-7p. SMH Guess who voted tonight! Yep! I did!! For any manager that is reading this please update your team! I waisted 24 minutes of my time due to lack of knowledge from the library staff! Peace!

Seems like these library staff even encourage it since they seem to have the loudest voices and unrestrained laughter. People talk in the mobile phones in a regular tone of voice despite signs on each computer terminal to go to the lobby if they want to use their phones. The staff doesn't seem to mind it and they do not enforce it. This is not a library---more like a flea market where one are encouraged to socialize...where loud voices are encouraged with abandon. The number one practitioners are the staff---prima donnas at their best.

They have a very intensive calendar for Children, Young Adults, and Adults. The first time I stumbled in was simply to put in your documents and to use the computer. After seeing all that they offered I decided to bring my little man with me for Story time. Children's Section: The children's section of the library in sectioned off with doors and is a joy to be in. There is plenty of space to explore and a private room for more events. They offer the following: 1. Toddler Story time: Tuesday's @ 11:00am 2. Baby Lap Story time: Friday's @ 10:30am

WHERE'S THE RESPECT?…read more I love libraries but more than anything I really respect libraries so I was absolutely shocked when I first saw this library and how neglected it is. The outside is a very dated structure and it was absolutely filthy! What an embarrassment to the community. This is their main library with "Headquarters" clearly printed on the sign. I was at a loss for words because I just believe that public buildings should be maintained in a respectable condition, (grounds included). Obviously we have great libraries in North Fulton County so we ended up at this library for a very specific reason. My husband who does genealogy needed a specific book that could only be located here and in Knoxville. Since this location is closer, we came here. In order to have access to books here, you will need a PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services) card which provides access to 284 libraries, in 53 library systems covering 143 counties (53 of the 63 library systems in Georgia). Materials can be delivered to your home library free of charge and alll residents of Georgia are eligible for this card. My husband needed to get a Clayton County library card in order to get the PINES card (which was a relatively easy process, all you need is a photo ID), and was then able to make the necessary copies he needed. This was a very busy library. I was surprised at the number of people actually using the library today, especially with the beautiful weather we are having. The library is a large open structure that has everything located on the main level. They did not appear to have study rooms or private enclosed areas, (even the bathrooms had disturbing signs and outside locks). It was definitely a different experience and one that made me appreciate my home library even more. * The staff member who assisted us today was top-notch and very much appreciated. ***The real annoyance occurred when my husband discovered that the rare book that he needed had been intentionally damaged. The entire first chapter had been removed. It was a very smooth process as if someone had used an X-acto knife. SMH!

Little town of Jackson, GA... another stop after a series of twists and turns on our summer road…read moretrip of 2022. This little town was one of several places we park the truck and trailer so my kids could visit some of the filming locations for Stranger Things and The Walking Dead. Several scenes from stranger things were filmed here around the town Square... if you're a fan of the show, you probably remember the big fight in the alley, or the army surplus store, or the RadioShack, or even where hopper works. It was this last place that made the Jackson-Butts library a memorable spot for us. Interestingly, there is still a Confederate soldier statue standing in front, not yet torn down. Time will tell, I suppose. Aside from featuring some places you've seen on TV, the whole little town is pretty cute, with shops and restaurants starting here in there. Many of the local stores embrace their notoriety from Netflix, while others seem to dismiss it all together. Either way, we enjoyed our brief stop here, walking around like slack-jawed yokel's, mildly starstruck and amused at the novelty of it all. I can't imagine a future where I will travel back along these scenic byways and two lane roads to visit Jackson, Georgia... But I suppose that if we leads to weigh, and I do find my way back, That would not be such a bad thing. Hell, maybe I'll be in the witness protection program, and they'll drop me here. Oops, scratch this one off the list...
