Let me start off by saying this is nowhere near the largest library I've ever been in but it still is pretty cozy to me. It's bigger than the Sue Kellogg branch in Stone Mountain. Redan-Trotti has more computers, tables, and seating thus making it a comfortable spot to read and study. The bathrooms here are usually clean as well. There's also a copy machine but no fax machine. The only downfall is that I can't bring in any food or drinks... which is understandable because some people are messy and there's carpet, computers, and books that people could mess up. I still wish I could bring in my coffee though for my reading/studying sessions. With Redan-Trotti's humble size yet the right amount of equipment (and furniture,) this will be my go-to library as long as I'm living in DeKalb.

I entered and we both got new cards and bounced. Then someone put me on to a library app called Libby and now I'm checking out books from my iPad and never thought about entering one again. FFWD to 3 days ago when I ran out of ink for my printer at the house and it was faster (and cheaper) to go to the library and print instead of running out for more ink. So I went in this library with that one goal in mind. But... all of that was tossed aside when I was met at the door with a book display that blew my mind!! On my mama I found like 6 books I wanted and they just GAVE THEM TO ME!! Like all I did was show my card and that was it. This *ish seemed criminal!! I forgot how easy it is to get books at the library. I'm shook!! Dead a**!! I'm ready to get more and I don't even know what the limit is!! Anyways this is more of a general library review and not necessarily this library. I came to the Hairston Crossing Library on a Monday afternoon for studying, and quite honestly, I…read morehadn't been here in more than a decade, but it looks like several renovations have been done since I last stepped in. Computers are available front and center as you walk in, and there are tables for studying, large ones that can seat 4 people at a time. There's also smaller tables that line the walls that seat two people at a time. Each table has its own outlet if you have your devices that need powering, and while I did hear some beeping noises from time to time, it was pretty quiet. An entire section in the rear of the library houses a children's book area with a table for kids. Of course throughout the library are several rows of books and staff were on hand to help anyone who needed it. The parking lot is decently sized, having no problems finding a parking spot. While the parking lot was easy to find a space, it was a bit challenging to find a table. Library computers were all being used at the time of my visit, and every table had at least one person sitting at it, so sometimes you have to share, which is what I did. Smaller library with limited books, but it does the job for me, especially when i'm just trying to study. I'd happily come back.

I've been here on numerous…read moreoccasions from early voting to HOA meetings but I never actually walked around to see what's offered such as classes in language arts, crafting, etc. On my last visit I was here for HOA meeting. On my way out, I picked up the quarterly publication of the upcoming events. I've always wanted to speak Spanish and low and behold the class is taught here! I was so excited but I later learned the class started Oct 1st thru Nov 5th. So I dropped by today to see when is the next class. I was told it's March 4. The publication is out Dec 4th. Good I came by today because the class most likely would be filled after Dec 4th. There is a beginners and Intermediate class. I'm looking forward to it bc I'm interacting with several Spanish speaking clients and I need to know their language so I can communicate with them. Not only that I believe we all should know more than one language. When I was in High School, French was the language of choice. I never used it but I'm still familiar with it if I had to read or speak it. So if you're in the Snellville area visit this library. They host parties, showers, retirement parties, meetings, etc. Im not certain what the fees are but I would think they're reasonable and competitive.

The guy at the entrance was really nice who was actually checking us in and helping us get our actual card. he provided a lot of information and provided us with a couple of pamphlet that was very helpful. they look like they have a few events that take place there from time to time it is currently still summer. They have different summer programs going on , plus you can tend to register to vote here as well. Anywho my daughter enjoyed herself playing on the computers they had set up for kids in like the kids zone she was able to play games that were already set up on there just as well as they had lots of books to pick from. We would definitely be back. They made a great first impression only downfall that I could say is none of the books that I really wanted to check out was available somewhere on Libby available to be audio read but I actually want the physical book so right now I'm currently in line waiting to get the book that I want.

The exterior of the building is beautiful with a pool leading up to the entrance. The pool is blue and undamaged (take notes Trump). There is a walking path with a pond in the back along with a Japanese garden in the back. There are also statues and separate buildings for research and a peace retreat. Inside the Museum, there is the usual gift shop to get your token souvenirs. The museum is setup in chronological order starting with him growing up on a farm in Southern Georgia, his military service in WW2, his rise in local politics, his Presidency and then in my opinion his most impactful part, his post Presidency. The displays are very well done with artifacts through all phases of his life. They have his paperwork from his military service, gifts given to him while president from other heads of state, his Nobel Peace Prize, and lots of other stuff. During his presidency, they have a timeline wall with pop culture events that happened during that time. The mock Oval Offices are always my favorite part of these museums. I like to see what each president had in their offices. Jimmy was far from a great President, but he was a phenomenal man. The museum does a great job of capturing all of it.

We visited the Carter Center on Jan 6, 2026 as part of Road Scholar's "The Civil Rights Movement -…read moreAtlanta, Montgomery, Selma, Birmingham" program. It is the home of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. Access to the library is by appointment only. Tickets to the museum were covered by our program. Upon entering the Carter Center, the first thing we did was lunch at the Kitchen at Copenhill cafe. The cuisine was all-American, and decent enough. By the time I began exploring the museum proper, we had 100 minutes to spare. The way to the museum was into the gift shop, and then through either auditoriums A or B. The Carter Center is (so far) the only museum I've been to where the gift shop comes before the galleries. Given the limited time, I got to see three of the gallery sections. The first gallery section, aptly named "The Man From Plains", covers Carter's years before becoming POTUS. Exhibits cover his relationships with various people ("Black And White"), farming background ("Farm Family"), small-town education ("A Plains Education"), naval career ("A Career Officer?"), religious upbringing ("A Man Of Faith"), and courtship and marriage ("Jimmy And Rosalyn"). Easily my favorite section of the galleries, I got to appreciate (profoundly) Carter the person, human being and humanitarian. (Footages of this section are found on my YouTube channel in playlist "2026-1: The Civil Rights Movement - Atlanta, Montgomery, Selma, Birmingham", titled "Day 3: Jimmy Carter Museum, Part 1 - The Man From Plains".) The next gallery section is my least favorite, and not just because Carter wasn't all that great a POTUS. It covers the 1976 presidential election and his only term of office from 1977 to 1981. Exhibits include "The '76 Campaign", "The Walk Down Pennsylvania Avenue", "Inaugural Celebration" (including the Bible used in the swearing-in ceremony), the Oval Office (during the Carter administration), "Camp David Accords", and "Final Year - Two White Houses". No surprise that the focus is on the achievements than the failures. As photos the posted by others on Google show, there is apparently more that I didn't see because I wasn't aware of them. Wish I had a map of the museum. The final gallery section is my second favorite. It covers Carter's humanitarian work post-presidency, and is wonderfully illustrated by exhibits "Nineteen Eighties... Nineteen Nineties... Two Thousand and Beyond", "Building Hope", "Renewing Spirits", "Waging Peace" and "Recognition from Home and Abroad". The latter displays numerous accolades including a Grammy award, a Gates award, a Nobel Peace Prize, and (with Rosalynn) two Presidential Medals of Freedom. Situated near a window is the presidential lectern (supposedly) from the Carter administration where visitors can take photos of and with it. I took three of myself standing in front it. There is more that I didn't see because I wanted to go to the koi pond, but time had ran out. (Footages of the last two sections are found in "Day 3: Jimmy Carter Museum, Part 2 - Presidency & Post-Presidency". Same channel and playlist.) If I had more time, I would see the rest of the museum's content, the koi pond, the Japanese garden, and the Jimmy Carter bust near the museum entrance. What I did see impressed me so much that I'm adding presidential museums as places of interest for future travels. I recommend spending at least half a day to appreciate the museum and grounds of the Carter Center.

Library staff seem to be reluctant to provide the parenting skills that are so obviously missing from the real parents. BTW, if your child is too young to walk, it is too young to be expected to appreciate a library. One star is generous
