Being from one of the beer capitals of the world, Wisconsin, I was very happy with the beer at Fortnight! They provide a wide variety of locally made beers which really impressed me! There is something for everyone! The only drawback was the food truck that was there that night, Buff-O-lina l. Beer drinker beware... this place has a great atmosphere, but when it comes to consistency in their beer formula, they struck out. Take for example their 'Call the Hops' IPA. It was by far my most favorite IPA... it was so great that they had trouble keeping it in stock in stores and at the brewery. Then someone has the bright idea to change the type of hops used in the recipe. While it doesn't taste bad now, it certainly is not the same great juicy citrus IPA Call the Hops was intended to be. I don't mind you tweaking a recipe, but for Christ's sake, don't tarnish the Call the Hops brand that so many have grown to love. At least Coca-Cola had the decency to label their recipe mistake from the 80's 'New Coke'. If you are missing the right ingredients, don't make it or call it something UPDATE: so these guys brought back the original hops in their 'Call the Hops', but during their drive-by beer sales on 3/27/20 they loaded our vehicle up with beer brewed over 6 months ago. Guys, please don't sell 6+ month old beer that has been sitting in a hot warehouse since mid-September! read more

Cary's first local craft brewery!! It's about time!! Staff are very attentive, the set up is really nice, and they are in the process of creating some outdoor seating (hopefully in time for summer!!). My favorite is the porter. Went in, tried all 3 that we're available, and ended up buying a growler of the porter! That growler is long gone and it tasted excellent! My favorite part about this space is the picture window! It allows you to drink at the bar while peaking in at what takes place behind the scenes! We ventured here on a Wednesday night. I have drove past this place on the daily for a long time now. The food truck out front was a determining factor. It's a bit hidden and unless your looking for it you may have never knew there was a brewery there. It's a whitish brick building with a it's name located on the top. Like other yelpers mentioned parking is not great. When I arrived the parking lot they offer was full. They offer more parking thanks to the business next door but that was also full, and so was the lot across the street. We waited for someone to leave to find a parking spot along with a line of other cars. We walked in and knew why the place was so packed! On Wednesdays they offer DJ bingo, and they also have run club.There was a ton going on. They don't serve their own food but usually have a food truck out front, I believe they rotate. With a full house I knew it would be hard to get a beer. But it was worse than expected because they only had 1 bar tender for 50 people or more. I got the blonde ale which was average. My fiancée ordered the coffee amber beer. He enjoyed his and liked the flavor. I had a sip but that's just not my thing. Inside there is a bar, large menu for everyone to see, a few tables, chairs, small tv, and a table reserved for lap tops. I found that a bit odd. But we decided to sit outside on one of the few pick nick tables they had. Our table was on a hill with a terrible slant. I didn't get to view the brewery or have more than one beer to get the full effect. All in all I think I would return to get a tour, try out a flight and defiantly to experience some of the rotating food trucks. read more

We visited for the first time when I found an awesome Groupon for a brewery tour, two beers, two six packs, and two Fortnight glasses. Wish we would have come sooner! We love the ambiance, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and having a brewery in the neighborhood that is child-friendly is amazing. The food trucks are a cool perk, but being able to bring your own food is great too. And of course... the beer is to die for! read more

Came in the mid-afternoon on a weekend following a long bike ride that ended nearby. I was even still wearing all my gear. The vibe inside is pretty classy, kind of like a parlor with fancy chairs and stuff, I'd like to hang out in there with a smoker's jacket instead of a bike jersey. Oh well. the attitude of the bartender was not very warm. I was the only one at the bar at this off hour and he wasn't really into talking too much about the beer when I asked him for recommendations, which made me a little sad. They specialize in English inspired ales. I tried the porter. It was OK. if you dig into my reviews you'll see I'm not a huge beer fan (I go to breweries for the anthropologic experience and insist on drinking beer anyway). So the lack of enthusiasm may have affected my experience. I still bought a tee shirt. I'd come back if I was in the area with a group of friends to hang with. read more

Fortnight makes good to better than good beers....err, ales? My wife likes them very much, and she's very particular about what she'll drink. We frequently go in for growler refills, and the consistency is there. Said growler was $5 for the vessel, and $10 for the beer. Pints are served at $4. From my first visit, before they were technically open... They had the Ale also avail on nitrogen, and it really was a nice touch. Creamier? The mouth feel was much different, and it went down very easily. And it's not too strong. A lot of the local brews are high gravity. The English bitters and ales will be a nice addition to the crazy-fast growing beer scene. The place was super-busy - Cary is definitely ready for its first brewery. The good folks at Fortnight were very attentive to their guests, everyone was smiling and having a good time. The growlers were taking a long time to fill, 30 minute back-log at one point?. My only criticism or advice would be to put the growler filling setup out front where folks can see it. Might sell more that way. The bar area is u-shaped and looks like it could easily seat 20 folks or so. Lots of comfortable tables and a couple comfortable pieces of furniture to hang out at. Definitely looking forward to the place opening and having their full complement of beers available. I saw lots of bullet and full kegs sitting in the back, so we might be seeing their stuff available at our favorite restaurants and bars soon as well! read more

Unfortunately for them it was rather empty, but it was a gem... Nice to find some yummy very interesting beers, and a warm place to enjoy the barbeque being made outside by the Humble Pig barbecue truck. I had a sample of the Cacao Nib Porter. It was cask ale and the perfect temperature bringing out the chocolate flavor. I don't normally like call ale, tastes.... Flat... Too me. But this I enjoyed. It was really spacious inside, and through the glass walls you could e where the magic happens. The staff was friendly and not overly in your face. If I get to go back if love to try other flavors. Arrived a little after 4:00 p.m. to find the food truck was packing up to leave. Great selection of in-house and other local/regional taps. Tried 3, including Turtle Back Brown and Carolina Amber. Food truck was outside, but didn't try. Bar staff friendly and checked on us often. Loud, but not deafening. Bet it's even better during spring and summer when outside seating can be utilized. read more

A year ago when this placed first opened, my first thought was "Why in the heck would I want to go there and drink English Beer? This is Murica!" Well in the past year, thanks in large part to a trip to Ireland, my taste in beer has changed big time, and I am glad I now have Fortnight around the corner from my house. If you, like so many "beer" drinkers, like breweries to have 67 different IPA's, than Fortnight is not for you. Sure they have an IPA and will sometimes have another on small release, but this place is about old school beers that have some weight behind them. I am now at the point where I only drink darker beers, and the different styles they have are awesome. The ESB is my favorite, but the English Ale, Porter, and Coffee Amber are all good. The best part of this place is something that you are not really going to find anywhere else, and that is their cask system. You might find a restaurant or brewery that has a beer engine, but they usually will only have 1. Fortnight has 4 cask taps, and if you have never had a beer from a cask you need to try it, it is how beer was orginally served. read more

To the guy who posted that he's not a beer connoisseur: well, I am one. I have brewed my own beers since the early 1990's, have sought out new and unique beers in my travels to Asia and all over Europe, and I just got back from the Czech Republic where I stayed at a château that had its own on-site brewery. There, my wife and I had a beer spa experience. Fantastic. In the UK, I have spent hundreds of hours in pubs in Oxford, Reading, Edinburgh, and London drinking some of the best cask-conditioned beers in the world. What does this have to do with Fortnight? I know beer, and this beer is awful. Also, the "pub" is neither a pub nor a decent brewery sampling room. For that, try The Bruery out in LA, Lagunitas in Petaluma, or Stone Brewery in Escondido, CA. This place had no food option when we were there, and they serve beer in *gasp* plastic cups! The whole place feels - well - temporary. It's like they are preparing to go out of business at any moment. With the taste of these ersatz "English" ales, I can see why. This place has no "vibe", and it certainly doesn't qualify as a place you'd want to go to spend a couple hours quaffing brews. I'd rather go up to Gizmo in the ratty business park and sit on a wobbly chair in their garage. At least they are funky and brew decent beer. My wife and I wanted to give them another try, so we each ordered a Fortnight at a local restaurant just last night, and we didn't even finish our pints of "ESB". This stuff was nearly undrinkable. Sorry for the brutal review, guys, but you need to learn how to make beer, then figure out how to create a place where people would come to enjoy it. This ain't it, on either account. Here's a tip for the owner(s): Take the RDU to LHR flight, then grab the train to Reading. Walk four blocks to The Hop Leaf and drink whatever they are pouring from the cask. Then spend the next four hours imbibing with the locals. Taste and feel the difference. That's English ale in a proper pub setting. read more

Excited to see a Brewery opening in Cary I have wanted to like Fortnight Brewing Company but after several visits here I am not impressed. This place is in need of a personality and a more flavorful selection of Draught Beer. The starkness of the interior was understandable when they first opened but one would expect a theme evolution over time. As far as the beer goes I drink the Porter because it seems to be the only one that has any semblance of flavor, The English Ale and Blond are bland. read more

My husband and I have been here a handful of times since they opened. They took over a warehouse building and have a nice space, the parking can be tight but the dog kennel allows you to park over there for overflow. Recently they have started having food trucks (if you follow them on Facebook they usually post which one will be there on any given day). They support you bringing food in or ordering delivery to the brewery. The beers are english style and slightly warmer than most are used to drinking. They changed their blonde and personally now it isn't nearly as good as it used to be and tastes similar to a natural light the last time we were there (not a positive note but maybe it was the batch). Hopefully after a few batches they get the beers tasting more consistent. I should also mention they started offering wine and champagne. If the owners are in there, you are guaranteed great service, if there is a random bartender.... good luck. We've been in there and watch them stumble over one another from not knowing how to use the computer system, not pour a good beer, ignore you when you make eye contact with them when they are NOT busy. Finally tried Fortnight Brewing. I was not disappointed. The space itself is very open with dart boards and board games you can play. You can choose to sit at the bar in your traditional bar stools or you can relax on a couch or lazyboy. There are also a few tables and booths to enjoy your food that you got at the food truck or brought yourself. There are also large windows that allow you to see into the brew room and watch where the magic happens. The bar has the usual bar feel however there is an added bonus. This brewery being owned by a few people from England has added the bonus. The bartender has a great accent to listen to. Also you can choose to have beer out of the cask or the regular way. The cask beer is just like you would find it in England and takes a bit more effort to pour. I tried the Blonde that was on tap and loved it. It was light and had a great flavor. My friend enjoyed the stout as well. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a good beer and doesn't mind venturing to Cary. read more

Fortnight is a ok brewery as far as I'm concerned. They have a good selection of every style of beer you would want to try but nothing really stands out to me as a real "wow" beer. The inside of the place is pretty bare bones but they have your typical darts, tv and some board games you can try if you'd like. The staff is always friendly and service is always good. read more

The beer selection is rather limited - a Blonde, a Porter, an ESB, and a Stout (I think). They've added a few bottles of gluten-free selections, though I've not had any. And, they have a limited wine list, though, again, I haven't tried any. They have recently added dart boards, and the lounge area is comfortable if you'd like to relax and enjoy a beer. I had a Groupon for a tour, two flights of beer, and two pint glasses. I hadn't heard of this place before, but after checking out their website I gave it a shot. I love it! The tour was very informative, and I was impressed that they had only been open about 6 months! The guys working that day were really friendly and knowledgeable. They stick with traditional English brewing practices and types of beer. The cool thing was that they naturally carbonate some of their beers in traditional wooden casks. They had 4 different types on tap in their tasting room. I tried the Cask English Ale. It was really weird not being as carbonated as I'm used to, plus it's served a bit warmer than normal beers. It took a few sips to get used to, but it started to grow on me. They don't serve food in their tasting room other than snacks like chips and pretzels, but they usually have a food truck parked out front- especially on weekends. There's also dartboards and plenty of seating inside, as well as picnic tables if you want to enjoy your pint outside. Plus, I love their name. A fortnight is a period of 2 weeks, which just so happens to be the length of time it takes for a beer to ferment :) read more

Went for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere is typical for the local area brewery tasting rooms. (big and basic room with a bar and a few tables/chairs). So the atmosphere is focused to those that want to chug a few craft ales, it's not date-night material.. I really like the English style ales and they.re a nice change from the over-hopped, big kick brews that come from many of the craft brewers these days. The big thing going for Fortnight is they have cask conditioned beers pumped by hand. Not too chilled and gassed which makes for a great flavor. I tried the English Ale which was OK for me as it was a more traditional Ale, being darker and heavier than I typically like. Next choice was the ESB, that was great. ESB's are less hopped than IPA's so it had a great malty flavor that came through. In my old age I've started to go off the highly hopped beers, and find the brews here a nice addition to the regular craft breweries in the area. I'll come back and try some of the others, and wash out my old growler for a fill up to take home. read more

Yep, rad place. Literally the only time I've ever bought a growler was from this brewery. They were featuring a chai tea beer in which they'd actually brewed tea into the beer somehow with science. It tasted just like chai tea. I bought 2 growlers. read more

Cary's first brewery is a good one. They do great English ales, and I'm a big fan of their cask ales - the cask porter was superb. The atmosphere is "industrial chic," I guess...? There are some TVs with sports on, and some nice easy chairs and couches for hanging out. My only complaint is that I wish the place was open later than it is, but hey... Cary. A great place to go for after-work drinks or to chill with friends. I'm a fan. read more
