This small station is located at the higher end of North Queensferry and proudly stands over the rest of this coastal town. And it is its position which make the station standout on the rail route towards Edinburgh. With great views of the city of Edinburgh and its surrounding areas, tourists flock here with their cameras. Furthermore, this station is used, along with Dalmeny as a hop off and on station for crossing the Forth Rail Bridge. The station is small and is set in the Victorian mould with the main building and bridge. One of the walls at the station has been decorated by local school children with an image of the iconic bridge and the Firth of Forth. As a frequent train traveller I have formed an admiration for these small, old stations which almost look out of place in our villages and towns. However, North Queensferry train station certainly adds some character to the place and is well worth a visit for train station enthusiasts!

Situated just outside Inverkeithing and just off the A90 is Ferrytoll park and ride. This park and ride service allows users to park their cars in a secure car park and get a bus through to Edinburgh. The bus service is mainly run by Stagecoach, and the services in the morning and evening are very busy! However, the prices are not bad at all, and are cheaper than going via train! I have only used it a couple of times and I found the service quite fast and only took around twenty minutes to get into the centre of Edinburgh. From Edinburgh you can get buses back from the bus station or George Street. A great service by all accounts and a great way to get cars of the road in Edinburgh!

Boat tours leave from this pier and it is possibly to book them in advance. When I was passing by, the queue for the boat trip was long due to the large amount of tourists. From the pier, one can get remarkable views of the Rail Bridge, with the pier being almost being practically under the bridge. The Pier is not as dramatic as others and is quite bland, the only change it gets each year is the annual visit of the shows for the festival season.

There are plenty of signs throughout the airport indicating where you need to go to get the Tram (though, heads-up, depending on what gate you're coming from/going to, it could be a very long walk). Pass the enormous E D I N B U R G H letters outside the airport, and you'll see the ticket kiosks (pricing is currently £7.50 for a single, or £9.50 for an open return - the better value! I think you also save 50p if you pre-purchase online). Trams to the city from the airport run every seven to ten minutes, it takes about thirty to thirty-five minutes from the airport to either the Princes St or St Andrews Square stop (admittedly, I've never traveled beyond these two stops). There's spacious luggage racks to store your bags, plenty of seats for everyone, and it's noticeably clean as well. Make sure you have your ticket on you so they can check it (because they will). This is definitely the least stressful way to travel to/from the airport!

Personally, I'd rather get from A to B without getting a headache from the in-your-face purple, turquoise and blue décor they plaster the insides of their buses with. And I also don't understand how they can justify charging more than Lothian Buses do - First cover a fraction of the routes that Lothian do, and Lothian's buses are much cleaner inside and run to timetable a lot more than First. There's a reason they're lagging miles behind Lothian Buses. No pun intended!

Since I fall in the second group for Edinburgh, I can say that I was at first a little bit confused and slightly lost. That cleared up very quickly once I was directed to the Lothian office near Waverley Bridge. A friendly and helpful clerk (who must deal with people like me day-in and day-out) was able to explain the day ticket (£3? All day? Yes.) and provide me with a map of the bus routes. Five minutes later, I was waiting at my stop and five minutes after that, I was in the front row of a double-decker on the way to my destination. The bus ticket is surprisingly simple and very clever. I purchased three, as I'm here three days. Each one has a series of scratch offs for the day, month and year. You just scratch off the right date and you're good to go. Nice. The buses I've ridden have been clean and prompt. While the ride may be speedy, the roads are a little bumpy. I think my driver yesterday actually missed one of the drains! They also have an iPhone app (jeez, there's an app for everything!) so you can find the nearest stop and when the bus is due to arrive.

Unlike some other stations, which I will not mention by name, Burntisland has a station which is full of character. The main building is large and was moulded and built in the Victorian era (late nineteenth century). The building is currently undergoing some work at the moment, however the building seemed to be in good nick. Inside, the building is, sadly, like all stations of this style has the dodgy sixties interior. It's not as bad as others, but this station deserves better. The station is clean and presentable, and it even has a bridge to the other side made of good old Victorian steel! The station is not as busy as other stations on the Fife line as not all the trains from Dundee and Edinburgh stop here. It is predominately Fife circle trains which do.

At the end of the castle tour, my sister became extremely unwell and we called Martin back to pick us up. At the time, we thought he would just take us back to the bus station. However, he agreed he would take us all the way back to Edinburgh (and he hauled a$$)!! He went out of his way to help us and we greatly appreciate him! He literally was a God send for us that day. I don't think any other cab driver would have done that. THAT will forever be a day we won't forget from our vacation!

Near half along the High Street in South Queensferry stands a stone monument on the land side of…read morethe street. The monument and surrounding garden is lightly set back from the main street. It is dedicated to the former Lord Provost of the town (1884 - 1899), John Reid. I don't know that much about the man and his achievements. However, he obviously was an important man due to this significant stone monument. The gardens take on a seaside look, with the gardens dominated by sandy coloured stone paths and shrubbery. Worth a visit, not every Lord Provost gets a monument!
