That's something I really enjoy at a rock climbing gym, and I can tell they value the importance of customer service. The facility is absolutely beautiful with high walls- many of which are leadable, new holds, and frequent new routes. The route setting is different, technical, and well thought out. I really appreciate the effort they put into their routes, and that is the main reason I choose to drive an hour to use the gym! They also have a great workout area and yoga room. This place is definitely worth the visit, and if you're a student, have your ID ready because they offer a big student discount :)

Don't get scammed by the manager…read more I recently relocated to NH from the west coast and have been an avid bouldering enthusiast for 15 years. This is the only climbing gym in the area so naturally I went to check it out and bought the 2 week punch card promotion with free top rope class. On first impression evo is a beautifully constructed climbing gym that is primarily catered to top rope. I was disappointed that the bouldering area seemed to be an afterthought. The second thing I noticed was that this gym is absolutely FILTHY. Chalk everywhere, every surface is coated with a layer of chalk the climbing holds are caked with chalk and grime. There seems be no daily cleaning being done despite the numerous amount of staff members on the floor. You can't sit on bouldering mats without being covered in chalk. This place is a COPD hazard. I was still going to sign up for a monthly membership despite these issues. However, on the last day of my 2 week pass I was called down to the front desk on the intercom. I wasn't sure why, but the employee notified me that his boss told him that my pass had already expired and I need to pay $20 for a day pass. This wasn't correct, I asked to speak with him and he insisted that my trial began the moment I paid online several days before actually starting my 2 weeks. After 20 minutes of explaining the terms of my contract to the manager and showing him what 14 consecutive days means, he eventually said that my contract was indeed still valid. The ordeal took so long I was late for work and I never got to ask if this mistake was due to the manager being incompetent, or if he was trying to commit contract fraud. I went back to speak with him in person and he denied any accountability and started becoming belligerent and banned me for life while screaming and cursing me out the door for questioning him. If you are a member, know the terms of your contract and if this happened/happens to you please report it to the NH attorney general. If you are a staff member, if the manager asks you to do something illegal, say no and tell him to go clean the walls. If you are the owner of this establishment, you need a new manager.

This class was definitely hard as a beginner but I tried to remember that this is new to your body and to give myself some grace. I did need some breaks but all in all the instructors tell you to listen to your body but they motivate you to keep going. It was a great class definitely will come back I signed up for 2 more classes of MEGA: Essentials. Which is their beginner class or for those who want to perfect their form. I do wish they had a 30 minute intro class that really went over the machines because it was hard to hear over the headset the instructors wear and I did find myself looking up and watching what others were doing. But still it was easy to keep up and understand after doing it once.

It's always a small class size and the owners quickly get to know everyone well beyond just your name. I go regularly for the surfset classes. Surfset was an invention I once saw on the show Shark Tank. I was delighted when the classes came to Manchester. The surf board is securely attached to stability balls. Every move you do requires stability and therefore your abs get a major workout. Every surfset class is a different routine, which keeps it interesting. You get strength training added in with the use of kettlebells, medicine balls, and hand weights. You get a great cardio workout from it as well. It's a lot wrapped up in a 50 minute workout and it's fun! You can reserve your board online up to 2 weeks in advance. There is a limit of 9 people per class so be sure to sign up. In the warmer months, Saturday morning surfset classes are often taught at a local park when the weather permits. I highly recommend giving it a try! Your first class is always free. Come a few minutes early so they can review some of the moves with you and you know what to expect. Bring water and a towel as you'll need them in this class! TI Fitness also has boot camp classes. If you are interested in running or becoming a better runner, they also have a variety of running programs to help your particular needs. They also have many children's fitness classes.

Location update. Location was updated inside with new…read moreflooring, paint, and new equipment and reopened in Jan 2018. The cost for membership has not changed so far. The management continues to be very attentive to the customers and has even brought back some of the older equipment due to numerous requests for it. Location has a personal trainer who is available during the week. This location, according to management, may at some point go to 24/7 service. That would be a major plus for people who have different work schedules.

I've been an Express Fitness member for over a decade. A previously great gym, I have grown…read morefrustrated with how the parent gym, Executive, seems eager to find ways to nickle and dime members, advertise disingenuously, and how staff attention has waned. Many gyms seem to have a cost model of a sign-up fee plus monthly charge. At New Year, to entice potential customers, the start-up fee is often waived. However, Express is the only gym I know which has started to carry this supplemental forward year after year. When is a $29.99/monthly fee really a $34.16 monthly fee? When they tack a hidden $50 "maintenance fee" onto your account at yearly renewal time. It's slimy fake advertising. If you have issues with credit card numbers getting stolen, Express will want to charge you for that, too. The second time my billing card was compromised and account number changed, Express issued a $35 charge for a bounced $24.99 charge (monthly fee at the time) against a closed card. This fee was $10 more than the actual charge that bounced! Do you want to use the top row lockers so you're not hunched over using the bottom row lockers? Express will want to charge you a rental fee for that, too. The parent gym, Executive, actually locks all the top row lockers so you're forced to use the bottom ones. "Hunch over for health?" In fairness, they're not yet all locked in Hooksett. A friend left Express in 2016 when they instituted the "maintenance fee" and speaks quite highly of his Planet Fitness membership at half the price. Staff there is always out and about cleaning up and organizing equipment, a refreshing change from the mess that sometimes greets late day visitors at Express. (Express also has at least one slob member who trims his beard and leaves the trimmings around the sink which may sit there for hours. This has gone on for years.) There are some pluses. There is new equipment starting in 2018. There is free childcare with ample toys. Care quality varies by employee, however: sometimes there is interactive child engagement, sometimes a student is busy doing homework while the TV provides entertainment. Regardless, I am very happy Express has a nut-free policy. If you care about building functional full-body strength and balance, doing things like barbell squats and dead-lifts are a key training component you can do at Express. Planet Fitness is all about machines so you'd miss those there. I used to love Express, now I sound like crotchety old man describing it. I still go because it's the closest place I can lift heavy weights once or twice a week. I try to work around the class schedule, since many group exercise instructors blast class music so it's louder than the ambient music in the rest of the gym. My "light" days are now at home with a doorway pull-up bar, Bowflex adjustable dumbbells, and an incline bench. A few small fixes, and some integrity in the billing office, would be all it would take to make Express great again.

I was informed while in the pool that I was not allowed to be in the pool during swim class time. I said " I think my contract says I can be in the pool during open hours, other than water aerobics" " He literally yelled at me and said, "it's at the pool staffs discretion and you signed the contract, if you have a problem with it talk to the front desk and tell them Bobby said it's the rule" I reported this encounter to the owners son. He shrugged it off and said "ya, Bobby can be like that" After that I went back a few times. but felt uncomfortable, always looking to avoid him and this was not worth the stress. I am a leukemia patient. Stress is very bad for me. I initially signed up for exercise and swimming to relieve stress. I than decided it was best to not return. I never went back. 9 months of wasted gym membership. I felt uncomfortable and very unsafe. Afraid he would come at me with comments about reporting him to the owner's son. Bobby is a loud, disruptive self-centered inconsiderate and very rude person. I was sad to not return. however, his professionalism and communication were unacceptable. One of the hardest parts of moving way from NH was knowing that I wouldn't be able to consistently attend the classes at NRG. Lisa has built a studio that not only challenges and changes you, it provides you with a supportive group of lifelong friends. You will always feel welcome at NRG and you will always leave knowing you gave your workout your all. NRG provides classes of all types - bootcamp style, circuits, spin classes, and yoga. There is something for everyone here and you're missing out if you don't try it!

Lisa has done an outstanding job finding a team of trainers who are incredibly knowledgeable as well as compassionate in what they do. The best lesson I learned from NRG is that 'we're not uptight here'. Every session is accompanied with laughter that has made me love to workout again. But don't get me wrong... each session will push you through your comfort zone and beyond (because you can) but will make you want to come back for more afterwards.
