Fort Worth Academy is an amazing school. The teachers are dedicated. The curriculum and teaching approach is evidence-based and engaging for the students which makes learning fun for them. Teachers meet students where they are at and help them grow. Social-emotional development is also a big area of focus. Students are kind towards each other and they engage in projects to teach them things like gratitude and appreciation for others. FWA also has a great sense of community. If there is ever a concern school leadership is there to listen and help any way they can. I'm so glad I found this school for my child. read more

Enrolling my children in Fort Worth Academy is the very best decision we've ever made for our children. Our twins have been students since kindergarten, and this year are 5th graders in the middle school. Every day they are both excited to go to school where they won't be trapped in desks filling in worksheet, rather they will be immersed in experiences. Through those experiences, the content becomes part of them rather than facts they memorize, test over and forget. Curriculum at the Academy focuses on Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Innovation and all of the character attributes necessary for creating, innovating and community building. The school is committed to very small classes - no more than 15 in a class and two rooms per grade level. This allows the dynamic teachers to provide individualized attention focusing on strengthening each child's strengths which gives kids the confidence to tackle challenging material. Their teachers constantly look for the best way to engage each child and encourage them to go all in. Kids who are accelerated, are given opportunities to explore to the edges of the ability. The academics are incredible, but even more compelling is the character education that the kids don't even know they are getting -- we embrace the diversity of our school, community and global community beyond skin color to include culture, religion, philosophy, socio-economics and much more. Our students have connections with students across the globe and participate in shared lessons with friends abroad. The Academy's innovative approach to integrating technology throughout the curriculum including a 1:1 Computer program throughout all grades. K & 1 have tablets and Smartboards, 2nd - 4th have their own laptops in the classroom and 5th - 8th graders each have a touchscreen laptops all provided by the school. These aren't used as a glorified typewriter rather they are integrated into the learning process. I can't even describe how this happens, but its amazing to watch (come out for a visit and see for yourself!) I know some people are concerned about K - 8 school, but the Academy is K-8 on purpose and by design. This structure allows students to engage in age-appropriate pursuits and events, without the distraction of upperclassmen - who experience a very different set of academic, social and emotional stresses and pressures. I feel so incredibly lucky that our son is able to attend kindergarten at Fort Worth Academy. He is happy to go to school everyday and is happy when I pick him up. This morning he asked if he had school today and said, "the best days are school days". FWA caps their classrooms with 15 students. This is perfect for my son, who loves to be creative. The low student to teacher ratio allows my son's teachers to allow him (and all the students) to really branch out creatively and focus on each child's ability level in all subjects. It also insures that students have the ability to advance to the next level when they are ready, while allowing others to keep learning on pace. I knew FWA was the right school for us from the beginning. I wanted a school the devoted energy to supporting every child's individuality. When I went on tours at FWA, I saw students getting individual attention in almost every classroom and all the children (and the teachers) seemed happy! I also love that FWA is K-8. This allows the children to be children. I wanted him to have an elementary school experience, to be young, and to feel at home in his school. And in 9 years when he is off to high school, FWA students have close to a 100% acceptance rate to their first choice high school. Great school at the forefront of innovative teaching in a child centered, family environment.

We came to Fort Worth Academy because our preschool director recommended the school for our son. We could not have landed in a better place! The small classroom sizes really make a difference; no teacher is overwhelmed by an oversized classroom. The smaller size of the school enables our children to know and be known by everyone so they are very comfortable there. The lessons are very relevant to real life, practical, everyday living experiences. The ELI Initiative program (Entrepreneurship/Leadership/Innovation) is making a difference, as evidenced by our ten-year-old daughter. She prepared a presentation for us on why she needs a cell phone, complete with Powerpoint slides, graphs, benefits for us, cost, etc. We were so impressed by her unsolicited initiative! For those who are concerned that this school is K-8th Grade rather than K-12th, I would say that part of the reality of life is that students must move from high school to college anyway. Changing schools for 9th Grade will be good practice and good experience for the student. And I am confident that the preparation that our children receive at The Academy will ensure they are ready to move up. As a prior military family we were no strangers to researching schools for our two daughters. A summer move brought us to Ft. Worth and FWA and we could not be more pleased. It is truly everything they advertise and more! As a former FWA student myself, I was familiar with their smaller class sizes and nurturing environment...but it had been 25+ years since I had stepped inside the doors of Fort Worth Academy. When we made the decision to start our son at FWA his kindergarten year we were grateful that it had maintained the same feel I had experienced, but improved in so many ways. We have been extremely pleased with both teachers our son has had both in Kindergarten and now in first grade. Their curriculum is challenging yet engaging for the student. It has been exciting to watch our son grow! Their commitment to academic excellence is apparent through all levels and staff. My daughter started Kindergarten in September 2014. My husband and I carefully selected FWA based on the school's culture and education. The small classroom size lends itself to student centered learning while maintaining an over all accelerated syllabus. FWA has a wonderful program built to increase global knowledge and my daughter has classmates from other countries able to offer first hand accounts. My daughter's teacher is warm, consistent, bright and open minded. I attended FWA from 1986 until I graduated in 1991. The school still stands on genuine, unassuming roots, but a technology and entrepreneurship culture has propelled FWA into a cutting edge facility. read more
