Came during the off season so was able to drive through and look at signs. During prime season they had parking rates listed at the gate.

We arrived around 4:45 pm and very few at the campground, though as nightfall came, there were a few others that stopped and were mostly out early in the morning. Very friendly and helpful check in. We had reservations but had our pick of spaces. I wish I had taken a photo of the showers - they were plenty big, had a chair and were very clean. This was wonderful for my 83 year old mother that wanted to refresh after a few days on the road. I was on the fence about a full 5 stars only because of the ants... crazy ants everywhere but I had non-toxic spray for the tent and sprayed around the picnic table. It didn't stop them all, but helped. We still have a few ants that managed to find a ride on our tent to our next stop. We all got a few mosquito bites as well -- something we forget about not having many on the West Coast. If you stay here, it is peaceful and the "Prairie View" name suits it well. Had we unhooked our RV we would have ventured into the quaint little town for some food. It is worth a look if you stay. Otherwise, it's no frills, but clean and friendly and will be a nice stop over on your travels.

Riverside Campground - Nice campground. Enjoyed the stay. Lot size is good, just a tad tight between units, though.

Pretty disappointed after reading the good reviews. The bathroom was NOT clean - it had clearly…read morebeen a while since anyone had even wiped down the sinks. They have showers, but I'd have to be really gross to have to venture into them. The sites were habitable, but I wouldn't want go spend more than a night there. Full sun, and right by the railroad (the trains go by quite regularly). In spite of the campground being sparsely booked, the hostess was less than friendly. On the positive, there's a nice playground, a dog park, and a walking path. It's also very convenient if you're visiting Scott's Bluff National monument.

This campsite truly has it all and then some. The bells, the whistles, the whole train. Of course…read moreit's a campground first and foremost, but the other nearby features really add uniqueness to the experience if you want to branch out. First of all, the camping itself is affordable. Could've been that I visited in the off-season, but it was just $15 for the night to park my van. I could've camped in a tent on the ground, but I have a set-up that allows me to sleep in my van. Either way, the price is the same for them. The bathrooms are equipped with at least one hot shower - I couldn't get the other side to turn hot. Otherwise, they're clean and laid out conveniently for anyone to use and have relative privacy. They have pull through spots great for longer RV rigs, though I assume those come at a higher price because they have hook-ups. A greenway style trail runs right through the campground. I rode a lower-profile tired bike in both directions for a mile or two and never found the end. It seems like a significant trail for the area. There's a sizable river flowing nearby, a pond within the grounds for fishing, a YMCA summer camp with lots of family activities (maybe geared more to locals), and a zoo attached. I heard the sounds of some bizarre birds cawing in the night. There is a steel ring fire pit and cute little picnic table with each site. I backed my van up to the picnic table to help keep my cooking out of the wind and prevent flame-outs on my propane stove. I suppose you could cook over the fire pit too, if you like. The camp host was friendly and offered to stay a few minutes longer to meet me when I arrived. Located just 10 minutes from Scotts Bluff, this is in my opinion the best campground option around.

On Wednesday I filled my Antelope tag and called Sheila I would be leaving in the morning instead of Saturday. I asked for credit for the 3 days I wouldn't be there, she told me no refunds. I thought this was very unfair, if she had told me this when I booked, I would have only booked day at a time. But be never had something like this happen and have stayed at some very nice hotels too. I think BJ's is a nice campground with mostly overnighters passing through, maybe this is why. I would stay there again, but be careful how you reserve a spot. Only 3 starts because of the billing BS.

I went on over and talked to Gary, who immediately grabbed his tools and ran a full diagnostic on my car and helped me discover I was just an idiot and was low on oil. He filled me up and cleared the codes and made sure there wasn't anything else going on in my vehicle. He then barely charged me anything. Told me he was just glad he could help. He did warn me that his shop is only open part time so apparently I was lucky, but I have a feeling he'd be willing to help out any time he was around . . . even if the garage wasn't officially open. I hope if you have the misfortune to break down on a road trip, that you'll be fortunate enough to be within range of Gary. I was so grateful for his help that I brought him cookies the next time I went through town. He's a dream.

First, the hospitality and management are down to earth. Very friendly and were able to answer all our questions. They have a small store with some basics.. mustard, ketchup, and beer to name a few items. Very friendly. Second, the campsite was very reasonable considering full hookups and pull through. The campsites do share water, meaning one main water faucet that is split between two campsites. The pressure isn't a problem at all. Our problem was that my camper's water was on the front left of the camper. Given the sharing, my original 20 or so foot water hose couldn't reach. Our fault for not having an extension, but we ended up having to park the other way with the camper to hook up the water. Bottom line: we are newbie campers, so just make sure you have an extension. Lesson learned. They do have a cool little lake/pond that offers fishing and swimming as well as boat rentals. Water is clear and they have it sectioned off to prevent swimming too deep. Finally, you are within 5 or so minutes of Cold Brook Reservoir, an Army Corp of Engineers recreation area. They have a super nice beach, and facilities there. You are also within minutes of the cool little town of Hot Springs. If you are looking for a cool and out of the way campground with all the amenities, check this place out!

There is a lot of unique things to do in the town of hot springs. I enjoyed the camp ground having walking trails. Every evening I was able to sit on the hill in a quiet and peaceful place to meditate. The lake is super clear and feels amazing, I felt like the water was healing. There is water sports activities to rent. There is cute cabins if you don't have an RV. There is laundry and a store to get things you need. My dogs loved going walking around the lake and the trails. I felt like I was in a high end resort with all the amenities. The price is rather cheap for what all your getting. The views and the environment are very peaceful! If your looking for a place in the black hills this is one that is worth the drive from the parks and gives you so much serenity.
