Solano's is truly a lifesaver in disguise!…read more My forgetful self forgot to pack snow gloves for a snowboarding weekend up in Shasta. Long story short, I wasn't going to pay big bucks for a pair of gloves at the ski park. How could I forget to pack such an important thing right? I first went to a nearby Rite Aid for gloves but with no luck. I asked the clerk if they had gloves and she had said that those were only seasonal items... like what? How does that make any sense if this Rite Aid is located in a ski town. Anyways, she said Solano's down the road might have some. Glory to my cold hands and their unbearable intolerance to the snow, I found some cotton mittens at the store front. Hesitantly, I had the notion that the mittens would be better than nothing at all. Thank goodness I asked the nice clerk lady during check out if they had a bigger selection and she directed me to the recreational section for the Carhartt gloves they still had in stock. The moral to this story is to pack accordingly and to not procrastinate with packing. I was lucky Solano's was nearby and fortunate, as was with my wallet.

The crew and it's manager are ALWAYS there to help with a smile and greeting. I chose to shop here at this store and I AM NOT ALWAYS IN A GOOD MOOD when I walk through their doors and that is NOT their fault or job to fix. I want good service and a fair price and that is the #1 priority. The change I have seen in this store over the last 6 months has been HUGE!!! I can go in and get multiple quantities of the same product NOW because they have CLEARLY put an emphasis on INVENTORY and selection. Change is not always good, BUT in this case it is PERFECT!!!!! Keep up the good work Yreka Ace and it's employees. Yreka and it's community are a better place with you in it.

Staff's utility seems to correspond with their time on job. One recurring issue, however. Regularly I find that the price charged at checkout is higher than the price marked on the shelf. Staff is willing to look into the issue but only if I stand and wait while they do so, which is not always worth the wait on small items. The annoying part is that when I return later the price on the shelf is still not corrected to match the price I was charged.

LOUSY LUMBER. For a lumber yard to sell the crap they sell is offensive. They claim it's all they…read morecan get, but I as owner would order my lumber from CANADA if I needed to get decent stock. Theirs is wet, warps almost instantly when taken home, full of knots, cupped, warped, pitch oozing out... I went there the other day, paid for some 1x8" boards, went thru 40 or so DID NOT FIND ONE GOOD BOARD. Add to this they're EXPENSIVE. Further, Solano is a cheap owner. He will not hire experienced clerks and has a propensity for cute girls. they are usually very nice but useless as a 1910 sears catalog. I will shop ACE for my hardware from now on and find lumber in Redding. You can get your gun fixed in his store but can't find a decent board foot of wood to save your life.
