Just come here and throw your life away!…read more Located on the Old School Farm property this cozy ceramics studio is a great spot for beginners and those with a few years of pottery experience. I practiced ceramics for about five years and then school, work, and life got in the way. Fast forward to 2019 and I'm back on the wheel thanks to OSP. The classes here are super chill and offer all the basic needs for a successful novice potter. There are about ten wheels here which includes three standing wheels. There's also a slab roller and clay molds for hand building, if throwing on the wheel isn't your thing. The classes here will run about $190 for eight weeks which includes tools, discounted clay, unlimited glazings, and kiln firings. If eight weeks is too much of a commitment, they also one-off date night classes so you can take the class for test run. I know $192 may sound steep, but this farm is 100% a non-profit organization. So you're not only supporting the arts, but also a fully functioning farm as-well. Friday are free days if you're enrolled in a class, but will cost non-students $6.50 am hour. Bonus, you can grab beers from the restaurant upstairs and bring them to the studio. Yay for clay!

Robin's Gallery is a great place to go for your framing and gift needs. Even if the gift is for…read moreyourself! I've been a patron for a couple of years now. Not only do I go for my framing, I also go to a monthly painting class called Create It. Each month, the resident artist comes up with some fun painting and I sign up to go and paint along. Bring a friend or two, the beverage of your choice and your imagination and have a great evening out for mere $30. The classes are always an absolute blast and it is quite entertaining to see how so many people interpret the painting differently and make it their own. Aside from Create It, framing, paintings and prints, Robin's also has a wonderful assortment of jewelry and gifts. Since I am easily distracted by shiny things, this delights me to no end. Plus, buying from local artists and artisans is a great way to support community and I am all about that! Speaking of supporting all things local, David and Jessica, the owners of Robin's Gallery, are really into that as well. They are very active in both Hip Donelson and Hip Hermitage. They are local business owners who support their local communities not just by word, but with action and actively participating in events within their neighborhood. You really need to swing by and check out all this place has to offer. You won't be disappointed.

The East Side Performing Artist's Co-op is a cool vibey rehearsal space located at the Five Points…read morein East Nashville. This room is really a great space. The room is really large, it is about a 28 ft x 50 ft space, with a 20 ft x 20 ft stage area. The room is painted all different colors, which you would think would be distracting but it actually works for the room, and acts as fuel for your brain by making it more active. The stage is framed by big drapes around the back in golds and greens. These are all good feng shui colors and textures for a creative space. That is probably why I like the space so much, everything about seems to work really well to create a great feeling within the space. The other great thing about this room that sets it apart from a lot of other rehearsal spaces in town, is that it isn't built like a bomb shelter, this room has real windows to the outside world! You can see daylight, or whatever weather might be happening outside. They have a full stage PA, it is 3000 watts of power with a full sound board for running up to 24 channels. It is a great place to really hone in your on stage sound. The rates for the room vary depending on what kind of event or rehearsal you want to have. In general though, the rate is around $20-$25 an hour, sometimes more sometimes less. Call and ask for Mo Sweeney.

The rooms are great and they have a size for whatever you need. We've been in every room from the smallest, which is good for a small band practice, to the largest, which is great for events and the stage is huge. The equipment is high quality and we have always been pleased with things we've had to rent like drums, keyboards, and amps. They always have plenty of connections for our big group, and plenty of monitors to make sure we all can hear everything clearly. The staff is usually pretty attentive to our needs. They are not crazy about you touching the mixing board so you have to bring them in when you want to tweak stuff but they are usually on top of it. Whether you are a professional touring act needing a place to prepare or a local band needing a place with great sound to practice, this is a great spot.
