Parking: 5/5 - Personally did not have an issue parking here there were plenty of spots available at around 10:30/11. But there is another lot a further down the road. I prefer the one that i was at however I felt like the other lot going up to Lainkai was more for fisherman and kids. Location: 5/5 I had Lainkai Beach saved on my list so going to this one was a bit unexpected but they deliver the same views and even better that there's a restroom! Restroom was super clean too With that being said it was pretty windy which wasn't a problem but know that its blowin. The sand as well is that fine white sand which is super pretty but it sticks to you so if you're not a sand person...well...you're going to have to accept your textured fate. I wish I could've stayed here longer honestly. I love the fact that there's a foodland nearby to get some lunch and lounge here. There were families of course what are you going to do but there's enough space I feel like without too much crowding. The water was a postcard blue, warm and clear and tranquil. We arrived around 11A, and both the parking lot and the beach were already slammed. We got lucky and snagged a parking stall just as someone was pulling out. Finding a spot on the sand took a little longer, but eventually we found a place to nestle. The water was beautiful. The waves were mostly soft rolling breaks with the occasional stronger set that could catch you off guard if you weren't paying attention. Overall, I think it's a great beach for inexperienced swimmers, but I probably wouldn't recommend it for families with toddlers who just want to wade near the shoreline. Those occasional waves have enough push to knock over the littles. One thing I appreciated was how well-maintained the restrooms were compared to some of the other beach parks around the island. They also have a foot rinse station just outside the bathrooms, which made it easy to rinse off the sand from our feet and slippahs before heading back to the car. Such a simple feature, but one I always appreciate. Would I come back? Absolutely. The soft white sand, beautiful warm water, and relaxed vibe make it easy to spend an entire afternoon here. Just come early if you want a fighting chance at parking.

With powdery white sand, crystal-clear turquoise water, swaying palms, and breathtaking views of the iconic Mokulua Islands, it's everything you imagine a Hawaiian paradise should be. However, parking is extremely limited, access can be challenging, and this peaceful residential neighborhood deserves visitors who arrive with plenty of aloha and respect. The Details: I'm almost hesitant to write this review because Lanikai is one of those special places you wish could remain a well-kept secret! Having lived just down the street in Kailua for years, returning here today was especially nostalgic. Some places change dramatically over time, but the natural beauty of Lanikai Beach remains extraordinary. The Beach & Those Incredible Views...! The scenery is simply spectacular! Soft, golden-white sand meets impossibly beautiful shades of turquoise and light blue water. Palm trees sway overhead, tropical flowers brighten the surrounding neighborhood, and the Pacific Ocean stretches toward the horizon. And then there are the two little islands offshore! Known affectionately as "The Mokes," Moku Nui and Moku Iki are among the most recognizable landmarks on Oʻahu's Windward Coast. Their distinctive silhouettes rising from the ocean make this beach especially photogenic. Honestly, it's difficult to take a bad picture here! A Little Kailua Nostalgia: Seeing the Mokulua Islands again reminded me of a wonderful piece of local artwork from years ago. There was once a legendary Kailua deli called Doug's Gee a Deli that featured a particularly clever painting of these islands. The artist had imagined a beautiful mermaid reclining beneath the ocean's surface, her long hair and arms flowing with the tides and currents. Her upper body rose above the water to form Moku Nui, while the bend in her body created Moku Iki. I always thought that was such a wonderfully imaginative interpretation of these familiar landmarks! It reminded me of another clever Hawaiian island illustration depicting Chinaman's Hat (Mokoliʻi) as the hat of a man sleeping beneath the ocean, with a rice bowl resting in his lap. Those little pieces of local creativity have stayed with me all these years. Funny how returning to a familiar place can bring back such vivid memories! Parking & Access: Please Respect the Neighborhood...! Now for the less glamorous reality. Lanikai is a relatively small beach with limited public access paths, and finding legal parking can be an exercise in patience! Unlike larger tourist beaches, Lanikai sits within a quiet residential neighborhood. There are no sprawling beachfront parking lots waiting to accommodate visitors. The sandy access paths wind between private homes, opening onto the beach almost like little secret passageways. If you decide to visit, please be mindful that people actually live here! Park legally, don't block driveways or accessways, keep noise down, take your trash with you, and respect private property. A little consideration goes a long way toward preserving the peaceful atmosphere that makes Lanikai so special. Final Thoughts: For me, Lanikai Beach is more than another beautiful Hawaiian destination. It's a place filled with memories of the years I spent living in Kailua, and returning reminded me just how fortunate I was to have this extraordinary coastline practically in my backyard. If you're visiting Oʻahu, I absolutely recommend experiencing Lanikai at least once. Just remember that paradise is also somebody's neighborhood...! Bring your camera, your patience, and most importantly, your aloha spirit. Leave nothing behind but footprints! Aloha!

We did the trip to Moku Popoia which was perfect for getting to experience being out on the water as well as learning about the area. KBA had everything we needed for the trip from wet bags to a shop to snag any gear that we may have forgotten. The area is a great spot to experience a cool part of the island with solid food options close by and having beach access.

Even though we have done this excursion many times, there's always a twist. On our latest adventure, we got to see five monk seals, with two of them playing in the ocean like little puppies. We had a good group and had time to do extra things on this trip. Our guide, Tupre, made it a fun and interesting tour, throwing in historical and additional wildlife information. This experience solidified our decision to book Kailua Beach Adventures on our next trip to Oahu.

Parking can be quite limited and I noticed a few cars waiting for parking. I would recommend going early as I got lucky with parking. The beach is very sandy, no rocks or anything. The ocean was pretty calm, not sure if it ever gets rough here. Perfect for kids as well. The views are amazing! There's a bathroom and outdoor shower on the path to and from the beach, which is pretty clean. Overall, I definitely would go again and I recommend you guys to check it out as well! Perfect for a calm summer day!

Kailua beaches are just so beautiful and this one doesn't quite show it's glory until you walk the short path...tadaaaaahhhh! Yes there is a path which most are paved until you get to the bathroom/shower area then it's all sand and which I think is a great spot to just walk and take in the view. Wide open beach with views as long as your eyes can see it's all beautiful and something that you just need to experience for yourself, I wasn't dressed properly as this was just a random visit though since I was in the area I just though to give it a try and am so glad I did, very quite and peaceful place to relax and enjoy what we here in Hawai'i are so blessed to have. Went to Bellows on 23 March for the first time in a long time. It's odd to see people give…read morenegative reviews about a beach based on jellyfish being in the water. It's the ocean. The jellyfish don't know that Bellows is a semi private beach that requires military ID access to get onto. They are just there like they are there at Kailua, Kalama, Lanikai, and Waimanalo beaches. Going on a Sunday, the beach was not very crowded. We got there around 1100 and there was still parking available in the main parking lot. Not sure why another reviewer complained about no public shower as there is one right at the point where the parking lot ends and the beach begins, right next to the public restroom building. We brought our two dogs and kept them leashed the entire time. I brought our own dog water bowl but recognized it was too small and our dogs kept knocking them over so I walked to the shoppette and was able to purchase a much larger silicone dog dish for their water. Afterwards, we stopped at the reservation building where we sat on the covered deck and had some chicken and french fries as well as some cold drinks. These are all amenities you won't find at Kailua, Lanikai, or Kalama Beach Parks. Nothing but pros and no cons. The best part is, it is o ly about 20 minutes from where we live in Kaneohe. Will go again.

Yesterday, I "found" a "new" beach!…read more How I got there: As a volunteer for the Kailua Beach Clean-up, in celebration of Earth Day, there were several buses that drove volunteers to sites along the Kailua coastline. If I drove there myself, I would turn left at Kalapawai Market on North Kalaheo Avenue, instead of turning right to Kailua Beach. After passing Kalama Beach, I'd park at the residential area on or near Kailauana Place and Kailuana Loop, then walk to the sign at the entrance to the access road. The sign reads, "Kailuana Brow". The word, "brow", refers to an entryway. It was a flat, relatively easy walk along a sandy pathway that opened up into a clean, white, soft-sanded beach with a steady, cool breeze. It was so beautiful, that I may just have to return! It seemed to stretch out to forever... Notes: there are no facilities (restroom, shower, picnic benches/tables, lifeguard, etc.). It's just an open, natural space for all to enjoy! There weren't many people there - so unlike Waikiki Beach! Lucky we live Hawaii!
