The rest of the wines are between 5-7 by the glass, with sparkling white wine for €4 as well. Bargain! They have loads of bottles at both everyday and special occasion prices. Someone has put a lot of money into the decor here, it feels very decadent and luxurious. You can also get charcuterie plates. The staff are very warm and friendly, even to scruffy types like myself. A real find among the overpriced Den Haag bars.

The best seat in the house is probably the few tables outside overlooking the cannel. We got in around 6pm on a Wednesday night and we saw locals pouring in after work, super packed and vibrant.

This atmosphere was absolutely beautiful and intimate. A very lovely place if you wanted to go on a date as well. Clean, organised and just lovely. I would highly recommend and would definitely go back if I have the opportunity. At first, you might think it's a little sketchy because it is downstairs but it's only to give you the maximum privacy in a church not to mention!! I had some wine for 3.75 or 4.75 and they were ok, however I had better and for a lower price. I tried a really nice one for 5.75. It was a good wine, but the price quality wasn't that great. If talking about the food. We had a big meat platter to share and vegetarian platter. They were ok, nothing too fancy and also quite pricey I must say. Later we found out that they also had a special 3 course menu offer for 25 - which sounded like a good deal. He has had this place for three years and designed it like a cosy living room inside. His wine list and his little black book of wine is amazing. Very reasonably priced vintages and a great selection of organic and other wines from Europe. He also has a small selection of Israeli and Lebanese wines. Ask him for a recommendation and he will be glad to help you. He has a small list of food items to share and I think we tried most of his menu. The cheese and cold cuts are just fabulous as were the olives. The Flammkuchen was also nice and he has nice sourdough bread to complement the dishes. All in all a wonderful evening and we tasted some fabulous wines. The hospitality and warmth of the place makes it super special and the food was also very nice. Happily come here any day. Since it's my favorite place, I looked it up on maps and saved it. When I was there a month or so later, I was riding my bike in the afternoon and saw someone sitting near the front window working on his MacBook with a nice glass or white wine. I immediately slammed the brakes and parked my bike! Fortunately I had my MacBook so I could get some work done and drink some great wine at 4 PM (16:00 hours). Bottom line is you simply purchase a 20-30 euro card (or whatever you want) when you get there and can just choose from any wine in the restaurant. It's awesome. The notable thing is, the bartenders are wonderful and very helpful. They don't just let you fend for yourself, they assist you, give you advice, even free samples! Awesome place. Also, great food too! Try the oysters! They have bitterballen (of course) all day - then dinner and food all night. My favorite dinner place in Overtoom. Don't be afraid as I was the first time - when it was really crowded. Friendly and warm place - gezellig!
