Great place to fish and see the sky scrapers of San Francisco. Catch some rock crabs as well.

Foggy day to see the GGB

I've only been to Baker beach before and it's great for dogs! This was my first time at Fort Baker Beach! I had no idea this beach was even here! This particular Saturday it was super windy and the wind seem to be coming off from the ocean as the fog was pretty sick and the blue angels were grounded during the last days of fleet week. Nevertheless, we could hear the planes and boats flyby through the fog, which scared our puppies a bit, but they really love playing on the sand and running along the beach! We brought our own umbrella and blanket and were able to set up a little area for ourselves. Everybody was very polite on the beach and it seem to have a larger event party going on with several canopies on one end. I also believe some people were making a music video or some sort of documentary, they had their own music and special video camera. Kind of cool to watch! Lol I was mainly happy to walk along the beach and not see any trash or debris besides some washed up jellyfish. If you don't know, jellyfish can still sting you even though they're dead. We were careful with the puppies in their paws. I will definitely be back to this beach and hopefully it'll be sunny next time! I need more layers for San Francisco! Lol

We took our dog to Fort Baker for a cool (literally and figuratively) afternoon. It was fantastic to go from 90+ temps to 60+ temps with a cool breeze and see people fishing on the breakwater for Rick fish, watch sailboats come in and out with such grace, and visit with a few old salts at the Travis Club. We did some hiking around, took in views from every vantage point, and walked around WWII remnants. It was a fantastic day. Our dig loved the sheltered beaches and light waves (she's no surfer!). This is a well-kept secret and a gem!

If you are going fishing or crabbing or what not - go here early to get good parking and good seating area around the pier. This pier tends to pack up quick around 9AM. Luckily we got here around 7AM. Great view as well. But during the time we went, mid-November was so cold and windy so dress warm.

Can't believe it's taken me this long to come here. One of the best views of the bridge hands down! Esp, for a car photoshoot etc. Lots of space and parking all around. It can get a bit crazy getting down to the area, but it is well worth it! They have lots of porter potties for you to use. Parking is free. There are also a fishing pier you can fish off of. Lots of people crabbing when I came. Hiking trails, views and lots more. Even saw a couple boats come and go. Downfall to fishing here is that there are lots of seals!!! Seals are a no go! They will scare the fish and take your bait!

This hidden gem of a waterfront/ park is definitely 10/10! The space is big enough where you can enjoy the open green field and have a picnic- not sure if they allow BBQ'ing but some groups were. There is ample parking with several lots, some lots are waterfront so you can see the big cargo ships go by. Other lots are paved and some have gravel. I've also been here for New Years and July 4th and it's perfect to sit on the waterfront and watch the fireworks! Although fireworks are lit from this location- you can see them from around the bay.

A Good place to park if you want to hike/wAlk to the Golden Gate Bridge. Don't underestimate the distance like we did. Roundtrip hike from here to the other side of the bridge was about 5.5miles.

It's a great spot to get a nice picture up close of the Golden Gate Bridge. You're literally so close to it. It's also a cool spot to do a bit of fishing or crabbing on the pier. Beware that the seals will take your crab bait if you don't secure it. Please also note that you can only keep red and rock crab here. So if you are looking to get some Dungeness Crab, expect a fat fine if you get caught. I would definitely take relatives out of town or visiting here. Parking is small and the road to get there is full of curves.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! There's something calming about being on this side of Golden Gate Bridge. Can life get any better than this? I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. There's a myriad of activities to choose from. Families and tourists come from all over to explore this beautiful historic army post. - Bay Area Discovery Museum - Marin Headlands - Point Bonita Lighthouse - Muir Beach/Stinson Beach - City of Sausalito - Kayaking - Kirby Cove - Muir Woods National Monument - The Marine Mammal Center - Scenic hiking/biking trails Spend a full day and discover countless outdoor activities this fascinating place has to offer. You'll find it hard to decide which nearby attraction to tour. Try them all ~ happy picture taking! =)

    Great view of the GGB!

BEST GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE SHOT we took was from here! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fort-baker-sausalito?select=oU9f64xuAsm4h6IOCmoQtw#kkz3kf1mOC6jccDlojlVeQ This would be a great first date or even a great 100th date! It's windy and freezing cold, even in the middle of June! We even saw a sea lion or something frolicking right there at the end of the pier! Best of all, it was FREE.

Wow go crabbing at the pier regularly. You don't need a license and you get an awesome view of the bridge. There's not a lot of parking so get there early and there's only port a potties which are always pretty dirty. There's a children's museum and restaurant/bar on site but we haven't been to either one.

Ok picture this. You're out crabbing/fishing with friends/family + lawn chairs + beers + some music = Good times, 4 stars you're a fan right? now add... a ridiculous view of the Golden Gate Bridge (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/aUJOGO3I85H43G9uk5gdeg?select=Sreud_PFzLSvDkiXWTkf0w) and some caught crabs. No, not the itchy crabs you get from drunken Taco Tuesday at the Power Exchange. Rock and Dungeness crabs like this (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/aUJOGO3I85H43G9uk5gdeg?select=MYgL0H_AiYnBQ3-_7QI86g) I've been fishing before and it sucks when you don't catch anything, but the crabs here, just like at the Power Exchange are plenty. To me that's instant memories and a 5 star experience. ------- FYI ------ -Crab season is from November to June. -You can only take crabs fished from the Pacific Ocean (so you can't take them from here) the rock crabs aren't as meaty as Dungeness but are fair game to take home. ------ Usefel Links ------ California's fish and game page for Dungeness which has the current rules and regulations. http://www.dfg.ca.gov/marine/dungeness.asp How to do on the pier crabbing http://www.heff.net/crabbing/ and just in case if you were thinking about the other crabs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pubic_lice

Best spot for viewing the Golden Gate Bridge! Also, the road that leads to FB is a great spot for a picnic.

Great views, few people. The tour buses generally do not come here. The night view of the Golden Gate is wonderful.

This is also great for photographers. Pretty much the hills, grass, trails, rocks, and trails are amazing! This is also a great place for photographers. There are other places like those Battery ones and Hill 88, but my friend and I didn't really get a chance to go there since we pretty much missed the path and we didn't want to turn around. Honestly, it's really hot here and thank goodness that I bring water and snacks in case I'm thirsty or hungry. Most importantly, bring water! You'll need it if you're ever going to hike here. The trip is short in my opinion since I'm used to hiking for a long time. In the future, I am planning to come back here to revisit scenic spots that we missed. The hike might be longer since I enjoy hiking at regional parks.
