Today I visited this spot again, and I got to park much closer than the previous time as I passed the entrance to the trail to Hippie Tree last time. The trail to the Hippie Tree has a slight incline, but pretty short hike. This time, there was just one swing. The swing was also pretty high so it was a bit difficulty to get on. The two girls who were there were not able to climb on. Then I tried to climb on, and I was able to do it. :D I showed them that using one leg to hook on the seat and holding onto the ropes to pull yourself up while swing the other leg onto the swing worked for me. This spot is truly a hidden gem, and I just felt pure tranquility when I was swinging there. :) The view is amazing even though today it was a bit foggy over in SF area so couldn't see the city and bridge as much.

We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it was empty so we got to enjoy the views and swings to ourselves. This is also great for photographers. Pretty much the hills, grass, trails, rocks, and trails are amazing! This is also a great place for photographers. There are other places like those Battery ones and Hill 88, but my friend and I didn't really get a chance to go there since we pretty much missed the path and we didn't want to turn around. Honestly, it's really hot here and thank goodness that I bring water and snacks in case I'm thirsty or hungry. Most importantly, bring water! You'll need it if you're ever going to hike here. The trip is short in my opinion since I'm used to hiking for a long time. In the future, I am planning to come back here to revisit scenic spots that we missed. The hike might be longer since I enjoy hiking at regional parks.

It was overcast when we hiked, but I like it this way only because it was very cool and the exposure to the sun was limited. We saw so many unique historical sites also, which I did not expect. The route we took had a lot of elevation gain and I had to put on some gloves for rock scrambling, but there are so many easy trails also. We also crossed the Golden Gate Bridge also, which is a first for me! Please come and create your own adventure.

Amazing views from any seat, an amazing backdrop as our daughter played. While we were there, two toddlers and a young boy joined the playground. Not many children were present. Our daughter had fun exploring the different parts of play on the structure along with climbing up the wall to the rail of the street. She lasted for almost an hour before she was ready to go. We saw two boys on the full basketball court. There was a water fountain with a refill station, oversized wooden lounge chairs, picnic tables, grassy areas along with trash, recycling and compost bins. We did not see restrooms, but we also did not wonder further than the extra to the playground. Parking is on the street on flat ground or on a slanted slope. Down the road from this area is a water front, lots of shops, eateries, some hotels and spas, grassy areas, coffee shops and more. The Bay Area Discovery Museum is less than a ten minute drive away. Lots to do and see before or after a visit here.

Unusual little neighborhood park with stunning views of the city…read more This is a neighborhood park - not for tourists... but it doesn't stop a tourist from coming here a few blocks off the main road to imagine life in such a serine area. Most of SF and the bay area is so much hustle and bustle and car break INS and crazy - its almost hard to believe that people just a few miles more away enjoy peace and quiet and serenity. Life in the bay doesn't have to be all gun shots and barbed wire and security cameras. Maybe if you live in one of those situations its important you come here to see how the other half lives. Show your kids the world is big - and you don't have to have some extravagant vacation to Japan to teach your kids this. The park is mostly flat but the surrounding street where you might park is very steep - if your diving a manual transmission car you might test your skills.

The park is full of palm trees , a decorative fountains , grassy lawn areas , and benches . The park is most famous for two 14-foot-tall concrete Elephant statues named Jumbo and PeeWee . The fountain and the elephant statues originally came from the 1915 Panama- Pacific international Exposition in San Francisco. William Faville , the architect of the fair 's court of the Universe , arranged to have the fountain and a pair of the exposition's 12 elephants status moved to his home town of Sausalito after the event closed . The park was named in honor of Vina Del Mar , Chile , which became Sausalito 's first sister city at the 1960 . This is a great place to sit and rest after a long walk from the pier or shopping in the downtown.

On top of all that, people have their dogs illegally off leash, even though it says dogs must be on a leash. There were two off leash dogs FIGHTING right next to my kids and the owners could not control them. Dog owners also let their dogs' poop and pee everywhere and do not even clean it up!! It is unbelievable how unsanitary this beach is. DO NOT GO.

I stopped by yesterday for a phone call appointment with the kid brother at 7pm. I was driving north to Russian River for Pliny Season and just happened to be at around that time. there are views and boats and sandy volleyball courts and water fountains for dogs - very nice. I talked with the kid brother about the unending mystery - a story involving our friend. It is a story revolving around red flags and suspicious events and no answers. There is a foul smell revolving around the whole story and the more one learns of the event the more questions one has. Our phone call ended in more confusion than when we started and when he hung up he sounded like he was going to do more phone calls and digging immediately after we hung up. I suspect he did as I got some call the next day from a person I hadn't heard from in 10 years. A great place to walk, or look at the bay or make a phone call I suppose.

Dumphy Park used to be a natural place filled with trees and little rolling hills, including fruit…read moretrees, avocados and wild fennel with a natural beachfront and lots of wildlife until the morons at the Sausalito City Council decided to chop down ALL the trees, bulldoze the hills, and turn it into a prison yard in their ongoing "massacre of all living things" in Sausalito. Now this location is by far the ugliest place in Marin County with a parking lot for your tesla (yippee). The city also ripped out the old pathway that ran along the waterfront with a large hedge that blocked all the traffic from view--which allowed people to stroll peacefully along the water without having to face traffic jams along bridgeway. That path and the hedges were also ripped out and replaced with SMART chargers for Teslas that now speed 60 miles an hour into the lot running down children and elderly people in the parking lot. Just another overpriced scam designed by the Sausalito City Council. Avoid it like the plague.

Strolling along the waterfront, exploring the adorable shops and eateries on Bridgeway, this park is a nice little spot to relax and enjoy the scenery. On a clear day, I was able to admire wonderful views of the city and nearby islands, especially as there are steps to an elevated level for visitors to take advantage of, to feel like you are actually on the water.

My daughter used to have fantastic games of tag and hide and seek here with just about anyone who showed up. The little children's play area is fenced with swings, a play structure and a sand box that is usually shaded. The bigger kids area has a sort of wooden castle structure with walkways and secret spots as well as a great twisty slide. There are several picnic tables and large lawn. The lawn is sometimes used for off-leash dog play, so take that as you will. If you like dogs and want to bring yours, it's welcome. If they make you uncomfortable, this may not be the best spot for you as the dogs are right next to the children's area. Usually it's just one or two dogs chasing a ball for a few minutes and then they continue on with their owners. One definite downside: there is NO BATHROOM. I think the neighbors fought this tooth and nail -- the ones immediately next to the park, that is. While I respect the notion of not wanting a public bathroom just behind your yard, this approach was a little short sided. Kids have been known to pee in the bushes along the fence line.

Great park for toddlers! Hard to find but worth the effort. Separate areas for little guys.read more
