I've done this and let hours slip away while I just zenned out here. It's also in a fantastic location- right next to the MV Library and the Friends of the Library Bookstore. It is a smaller park, and it's a very peaceful place. Come and enjoy, and please leave no trace. =)

Playground has been moved to the edge of the bird sanctuary -- apparently in the belief bringing closer the hollering and jumping six-year-olds will attract the birds to return. The playground was moved to a formerly grassy overlook of the bird sanctuary, and the grass was bulldozed under concrete walks and large spongy carpets (permanent) of blue-green, close shaven astro-turf (honest, come look for yourself). There were no birds today, but perhaps they haven't read the new sign or learned to appreciate six-year-olds on astro-turf. The elementary area (for ages five through twelve) includes a sand and water play feature that's representative of a creek, a 17-foot climbing net, an 8-foot climbing wall, and a turbo slide with a mini-overlook. There is a large a remodeled bathroom, several new benches and picnic tables scattered throughout, a redesigned amphitheater, a new overlook that offers stunning views of Corte Madera Creek and Creekside Marsh as well as an outstanding view of Mt. Tamalpais. In addition to these facilities, the heart of the park is the playground. Honoring the local community's wishes for a modern, interactive, and engaging place to play, parents and children will discover a park with something for all ages and a place that pays tribute to the surrounding environment, both natural and built. Now my son is 15, but we still go together with our 2 dogs. I appreciate the doggie bags, but have always wished there was a bathroom there, it seems to be the only thing that caps our time. We have even hosted many BBQs and Bday parties at Kay Park. It's completely fenced in so even the fastest runners can go off leash here!!

If you drive there and park on the road, just look for what looks like a small pathway or paved little alley between two houses --- that's the entrance. No bathrooms... not even sure if there's a water fountain... (can't recall and don't live there any more)... but just the sweetest little spot to take small children! There are two separate fenced play spaces and one large grassy lawn. One play area is for toddlers, the other for older children. You are unlikely to encounter playmates at this park, so bring a friend! What you will find is shade on a summer's day and a spot where (if you have a dog as well as children) you can bring the whole family.

It is a small park with limited resources but everything it has, it does well. There is a nice grassy field in the middle, with a path going partway around it. This field would be good for playing impromptu sports, even though it's not fully level. There is a nice playground and swingset for kids, including one of my favorite kids toys I've seen, which is a digging machine that kids can sit on and dig up the sand. Very fun! The best part about this park is that there is a picnic table and it comes with a barbecue grill! Without the grill I would say this park is nothing special (especially since there's only one picnic table), but the grill just raised the property value. Of course, if it's in use then you're out of luck. When I came to this park, there were people sitting at the picnic table, clearly holding it for a party they were planning on having later that day. So it seems like if you want to plan a barbecue here, you better be ready to stake your claim on the picnic table before someone else does!

I used to bike this route often, but chose to walk it today- it's glorious either way & the temperature was 20° cooler than where I live, which was quite pleasant. There are views along the entire route, plenty of benches located in shady spots where one can take in the beauty. The huge lawn space is wonderful for kites, frisbees, and soccer games. Most of all today, I appreciated all the new signage which was so whimsical.

There is a nice Mosaic of tiles with kids hand prints and names.( I wish I knew more about this but I am new to the area) There are 2 children's swings. A couple of little(sit in and move it with your feet kind) cars and plastic toy see-saws. I do not know what this is called but, it has 4 tall polls and a rope like net is hung between for the kids to climb like monkeys! The play area has 2 slides, 1 tunnel slide, 2 steering wheels, a mini rock wall, and a swirl pole to slide down. A picnic table and a couple of benches are available for seating. This place is not as big as the park in Fairfax and in a sense I like it better. It is less crowded and seems to be more intended for small children. Most of the 'caretakers' are mothers or fathers and not a nanny who sits on a bench while the kids raise hell.

This is a small park - you wouldn't come here unless you live less than a mile away. The perimeter of it near the street give off very natural vibes - not man made concrete and straight walls. I traveled all the way to Playland Sausalito from the South Bay with my 5 year old son for my cousins 5 year old son's birthday party. Upon exiting and making a left her and a left there I found myself driving through an old, dusty, shoddy, dirt road, with barrack style bungalows up into an old, spooky gymnasium. I'm assuming they're using 'Playland' in the school's old gymnasium. Is the school still open? I do not know, but from the looks of it, I doubt it. Just looked run down and unkept to be actually open on a day-to-day basis. I'm giving Playland Sausalito a 1 star review because mostly everyone from my cousins party ended up catching either the flu or some variation of the stomach bug that's been going on. Depending on if you were an adult or a child that kind of dictated your symptoms. After calling and asking around if anyone else from the party got sick I was not surprised to hear that, yes other people in attendance got sick. In addition to getting sick, the overall venue was kind of run down and seemed like it's on it's last leg. A few inflatables, a few balls to kick around, 2 pop-a-shot basketball hoops (one didn't work), and a cold gloomy atmosphere. Nice! I understand what Playland Sausalito is trying to do in terms of providing a safe fun-filled place for children to have parties and hang out with friends and family but if children and adults are getting sick than that's defeating the purpose. Maybe it was a one time thing or others have gotten sick at this establishment but I think lack of attention to detail, sanitary practices, and overall kind of just a dingy, ordinary, throw a few balls and inflatables in here and call it a 'Playland' is lame and dangerous. Also, when I called Playland to ask a question as to if they are open or not? (says they are closed on Yelp unless it's a private party), the guy that answered the phone said "Hello".. LoL, not "Thank you for calling Playland how can I help you" so I had to ask the guy "Is this Playland?". Not professional dude. In hindsight, as I was oblivious of what was to come the days after the party, I made a comment to my cousin that they were having another party right after us and I didn't see them doing any kind of sanitary wipe downs or anything. Yikes! In conclusion, I probably won't be coming back again and if you were thinking on planning a party for your little one here, I'd look around some more for I'm sure there are other venues that offer more bang for your buck. Do I recommend, No.
